Now two weeks into her journey down the Nile, Joanna Lumley leaves Egypt behind her, crossing Lake Nasser by ferry and entering Sudan. During the 18 hour journey she has to deal with crowding and less than sanitary conditions but agreeable travel companions. She gets to view the great statues at Abu Simbel as they pass by. They then travel by car to Wawa where they boat down a stretch of Nile in search of giant crocodiles that can grow up to 20 feet long. A further trip by car takes them to a holy mountain and then go deep underground to visit the tomb of a Queen who lived circa 650 B.C.
Welcome to the History Channel, the home of gripping and powerful documentaries. Here you can watch both full length documentaries and series that explore some of the most comprehensive pieces of world history.

to the other artificial lake, Lake Volta, in Ghana, which covers an area of 8,502 square kilometres.
It was, for the people of Ghana, just as big a sacrifice, to lose even more land, at the time, but now,
they are exporting electricity to many other African countries! .

I think why so many of us love Joanna, is that she is always ready to slum it. I mean, she just gets on with it, no matter what the conditions are. She would be the first person I would pick alongside me, if I had to survive in a jungle somewhere. There are simply no airs or graces about her, and that's why she is loved.

She’s a real inspiration! brave. She’s a touch older than I am, I don’t think I could have her nerve.
