Thank you Wanda 🙏 ❤ this was an informative and interesting watch. I particularly liked your fifth slide where you talk about the consequences that come when you act God-like. Also, thank you for reminding me about The Art of Love! I wanted to start it after I finished his magnum opus.

Thank you so much for your video I'm about to read a collection called after Ovid I think it was around 94 that this was published is edited by Michael Hoffman and James lasden I'm sure you're familiar with the work I needed a brush up so I chose this video so thank you a couple points of contention I have I don't think I have them with you but just society in general over the way this kind of work is treated I don't think we can interpret a poet's intentions this long after the work has been done I think we have to let it sit and use it for what we need to use it for and I think the important thing to use it for in this time and day would be to show those quotes sins of the patriarchy however I hope we do that carefully and don't lump all human beings together in the same pile when we talk about these things. Secondly it's just my opinion I am never for banning any sort of book or any sort of information that's written down I think that is at best cowardly and it worse too contemptible evil and as far as trigger warnings go for books like this I come from a different time and a different era and University and so my genex sensibilities don't allow me to give much empathy towards the trigger warning or those who would ask for it but while being a thetic to the state of a human suffering I have always felt it facing that suffering is what gets people through and I think works of literature like this can help certain people face certain kinds of suffering and certain faults of human nature. As I stated earlier I think it's too late to determine what the poets intentions were I hope that they weren't intended just as a narcissistic hedonistic rebellious journey through his own time and yet I hope that there was some intent of showing the downfalls in human nature but I don't think that we is modern folks can be sure since I'm a believer that intent is always prior to content I think intent that far behind is hard to know. Yet again I thank you for this video and the brush up because I believe the best things on CZcamsr lectures like these thank you for doing one.

I think the Metamorphoses is very relevant to the metoo era because many of its rape stories focus not only on the assault itself, but on how the victims are disbelieved, ignored, silenced, blamed, and/or punished by those in power who should be on their side.
