    Just stumbled on this as I was looking at buying a set and needed an honest review. I'm 45 and last time I had one was when I was 12.

    Took some white stitching thread thru every net opening to secure to top and sides goal frame. Works great.

    Excellent idea to sell club editions in club shops, even at lower league levels, kids going to their first games at Luton would want to recreate their matchday experience, captive market bringing subbuteo to people who would be attracted to the game, subbuteo should employ you as an adviser

      I’ve said many times, maybe if licenses for Prem clubs is too expensive then aim for lower leagues. I understand it’ll sell more sets league license on the box over individual teams. Could still do well in a club shop

    Great show stu. New pick feels and looks nice but didn’t pass kieth littlers thread test beat sticking with 70s cotton pitch. And the new players looks like sport billy 🤣

      Thank you buddy :-). Remember tho, there is more than one test than Littlers toothpick test, and he’ll be the first admit he is not guardian and last opinion on the game. We play on that pitch every other week at the RAS club and it’s holds up well even against Astro.

    I agree, the starter sets are great for beginners. Get the goals sorted, and mate awesome. Yes, and why not instead of a blue team, have a Liverpool team in away colours?

  • @alankimber9096
    @alankimber9096 Před 2 lety +1

    Spot on Stuart, it's a starter set to get people interested in the game again. Hopefully they will sell it in Australia?

    Is there going to be a representative at the 75th? If there is then surely they would see for themselves the importance and the possibilities of creating a game for both kids and adults alike.

      As it stands, during my last conversation, we've invited and they working on getting rep to the fest. They are supporting us in other ways with it too, so I'm hoping Uni games get someone there

    Its great we are seeing more Subbuteo Products. But comparing the detail on these to even the old Paul lamond licenced teams. These are no where near. The quality has dropped in just 10 years. BUT i do think its a great looking set and i think with time they will get back. The standard charter sponsor has the logo on the wrong side but hey im not gonna complain as im an Arsenal fan and don't plan on buying it haha

    • @SubbuteoCollector
      @SubbuteoCollector  Před 2 lety

      I think the kit details is good, aside from yeah the logo on the sponsor being the wrong side. Amazing to print so small. It is the cartoony face on the figure. I often wonder if he were blessed with the original mounds back in the day would we hate so much on the figure 🤔

    • @randomsh1t1471
      @randomsh1t1471 Před 2 lety

      @@SubbuteoCollector Im not worried about the figure as such but the kit detail has dropped a bit since the first licensed teams when they first relaunched in 2012. you look at the first couple of liverpool teams and compare then you'll probably agree

    na - 9/10 kids getting this will ditch it when they snap the goals and a few players and lose the ball, surely subbuteo must realise that adults are the biggest market, they just keep churning out poor quality ‘starter’ sets and pretty much nothing else, seem to be completely ignoring the possibility to sell a huge range of teams and accessories which could be of great quality given today’s technologies and still offer a good visually stunning and sturdier ‘starter’ set for the kids

    • @SubbuteoCollector
      @SubbuteoCollector  Před 2 lety

      It’s all about getting the licenses for me, get them get the teams and it’s away

  • @SubbuteoOnline
    @SubbuteoOnline Před 2 lety +1

    I understand it's aimed at kids but that isn't an excuse for it to be sloppy. Terrible goals, a standard ball (why not the LFC badge?), you mentioned the lack of away team, no branded pitch...
    It goes on and on with the new Subbuteo. Just no pride at all in what they're doing. Why should people pay more than it costs for a new FIFA game for something that they clearly don't care about?

    • @SubbuteoCollector
      @SubbuteoCollector  Před 2 lety

      Yeah you know I agree with much of what you say. It’s all very little tweaks. That will make grand improvements.

    Tell university games we don’t want vars sets or lioness box sets god knows what they are planning next we need new 70s brown and green grandstands new saint johns ambulance men a remake the old spectators so I don’t get ripped off on eBay 😂

    • @SubbuteoCollector
      @SubbuteoCollector  Před 2 lety

      Of course we want VAR sets, just like how in the 80’s we dugouts etc. and of course we want lioness sets, female figures represent where football is today. Replicas of old product isn’t what I believe is required what we need good quality new product. Football has moved on, Subbuteo can too, but the product has the match quality of yester year. But that all comes down the demand and cost

  • @paultiplady

    Rubbish Goals !!!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGGHH .

  • @mikebradbury7003

    low quality tat yet again which will ensure that no competitive event anywhere in the world will use "Subbuteo" equipment. If that pitch is the Paul Lamond one which sells for about $20/£18, then it's not bad, but when will these manufacturers ever talk to the ESA or top players and understand that cheap tat goals with no strength will last about one week? The figures' design looks decades behind the times. Clearly made by people who have never played the game. Yes we need teenagers to switch from playing computer games to doing actual hands-on things, although in the VR age, it seems ever less likely. Why does the game thrive on the continent, with hundreds of men and youths at tournaments, but in UK, we see the same 30 players whichever tourney you go to?

    • @SubbuteoCollector
      @SubbuteoCollector  Před 2 lety

      I talk to them all the time, the distributors feed it all back to Longshore. We can but prey it changes.
