- Today I’m out to do some fishing in the beautiful gin-clear waters of Grand Lake Stream, Maine (GLS)! Although, I didn't have much luck today. I still made the most of the day by taking the Ruffed grouse that I got yesterday : (Here a link if you want to see how I got this grouse : • Hunting the Remote Mai... ) and making a unique dish in the back of my truck, to lift my spirits, and get me ready for the next day of fishing! Enjoy!

And you ate it with chopsticks 🥢
I love it! Thanks for sharing this!
Great work the family and I loved the meals!
Super tes vidéos merci de partager tes passions 👍
Leatherman, Good👍
Buck knife, I have the same, Congrats
I eat grouse the same way, pan fried no sauce. Has a very unique and pleasant flavor. Glad to see you keep the legs, a lot of people leave them in the Bush.
Agreed! no need to spice them up. I find their flavor alone to be enjoyable much like I do brook trout
I waited almost a year for a Ruffed grouse video....Definitely worth it...Great vid...
More Ruffed grouse hunting videos...Please
Ive got another one on the memory card and plan to do a duck hunt next weekend as well

A good way to toast up a bun or bagel is a little bit of mayonnaise
Beautiful spot!
Amazing job. Fun video to watch. Meals looked great. I love catch and cook videos
You inspired me to keep a camp stove in my truck, great job again.
Thanks! It’s worth doing there something nice about cooking in the back of your truck. probably just because I’m not use to cooking on something level or raised off the ground when I’m on these trips 😂
good to see you bud
I went on a canoe trip in northern Ontario with a guy who carried 2 cutting boards, He was picky, one for fish, one for vegs. (I use a beavertail paddle as my cutting board) I wish I thought about telling him to use both sides of one board, save some weight. Good video, nice eats
I like the idea of using the paddle the more uses the better when it comes to trips like that
Always nice to see someone eat the whole bird. Nice job on that meal
The cranberries are just naturally tart. If you caramelize an onion before you do the mushroom cranberry mixture the sugars from the onion may cut the tartness some.
It would be cool to forage some mushrooms if it weren't such risky business.
Great video as always. The grouse looked delicious and the scenery is hard to beat.
Thanks for the tip! ill try that next time. I wanted to do some foraging but I just bought some thinking id run out of time. Next year im sure ill get some mushroom foraging in.
@@MainelyOutDoors nothing wrong with store bought, the meal looked exceptional. I've never been that far north or east so I definitely lack perspective as far as the foraging goes. You saw southern California lol, oaks and cactus, quail an rabbits. The occasional acorn
207 gang
roll call
Cheers from 🇨🇦 your vids are awesome! ✌🏻
Thank you!
Love the partridge videos. My father went out 4 or 5 times this October and saw quite a few birds. I need to look into a stove and/or a jet boil for my truck for next springs fishing trips.
I’ll have another video out on it too maybe I’ll make another during thanksgiving too. You should it’s a great way to spend a afternoon during a hunting or fishing trip
Never had Grouse before but it looks great
Definitely worth trying if you ever get the chance
you take tailgating to the next level
If you throw the cranberries in while the chicken is cooking, they'll caramelize and be less bitter. Love the channel. Good meals out of the truck is always a big flex
Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to try that this year I actually didn't think of that but it makes sense now that I think about it
i cooked up sharptail grouse for dinner tonigh brined them in a bay juniper brinet... sauted medium rare...with a juniper spruce orange red wine reduction....a nd sunchokes for veggies ....mmmm greetings from south west Montana....i love grouse
Wow that’s sounds awesome!! Might need to try that one day

I live in Dresden an I want to try grouse hunting I dont have any idea where to go. Anyone have any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.
Are you getting out this year? I’m heading to Maine in 3 weeks and can’t wait?
Definitely i've never missed a season since i was 3 😂
All you are missing is some deer steak beautiful setting to eat fresh Maine critters
Your about a hour south of me on this one
oh no kidding love that area sounds like your in a great spot!
Nice video........ Here is an idea for a camping meal in the fall in Maine. Scandinavian fruit soup; various wild berries you can collect in late Summer//Fall, cooked with water, honey [ or sugar] and thickened some with whole wheat pastry flour. It cooks up quickly and is very tasty.......
Thanks for the idea I’ve never heard of this but it sounds like a great meal to have in the woods!
As always, great video. Glad you were able to experience GLS. I have never fished it in the fall. If you use the same technique in the spring, you should have some decent luck. The Micky Fin is a great fly for up there. I think I would have used a Stonefly as a dropper maybe. In the spring make sure you watch for the dam release.
I'll definitely be back in the spring such a great area. I actually did that later on and it was bring in all the brook trout
@@MainelyOutDoors I have never caught a brookie out of GLS. Not really sure why but I always get the salmon. Not that I am complaining
Nice video. I wish I was that motivated to cook like that out there. Just bagged my limit of birds up by Gulf Hagas this weekend. Tons of birds everywhere in Maine this year. Very good editing and presentation. Just an FYI though: Maine rivers, streams and brooks are closed to fishing come September 30 in both the North and South zones.
Nice I’m headed out tomorrow! Well a lot of people think that but there are plenty of rivers open past the 30th including some open year around. Such as the East and west outlet. GLS is open until October 25 I think this year
@@MainelyOutDoors, ahh I see. I had to look it up. Never knew GLS has a special extended season. Just looking out for you.
Good luck tomorrow. The birds are plentiful this year. The lack of rain made for an optimal nesting season this year. Last year I only got one after four trips so this year is a good surprise. I had a late start this past Saturday. Missed four right off (2 spooked and 2 I just shot at terribly). Shot four in 35 mins a couple of hours later. I saw the first one I bagged. Drove down the road at 3mph after. I heard the next two, rustling in the leaves, before I saw them. The fourth one I almost ran over with the truck. I've got four in the fridge so I might have to try that cranberry, mushroom and rice dish you made. I bet the bitter cranberry would be great paired with the grouse topped with a little gravy. I think it will beat my pan fried bird with a can of mushroom soup dumped in it. Haha. Thanks again for the content!
Can you do a video of your tailgating/truck camping set up???
Sure its not very elaborate but ill be making a series on building a better one this summer
that alarm sound at the start legit made me mad, made me think i had to wake up and go to work already lol
Didn't mean to give everyone flash backs hahah!
kinda cold for top water
I was using streamers but i did see them rising for something that was emerging
The cranberries are supposed to be white in the center and a little bitter.
Awsome video again! What wildlife do you guys have on the table for Thanksgiving
Hopefully a deer but for now it will be some grouse and ducks. I have yet to go on a turkey hunt so thats not on the table yet maybe ill get into that next year might make a cool video
If you don’t mind traveling and like catching salmon get ahold of me next September and come catch some Great Lakes salmon here in NY
Definitely something ive been wanting to do. I'll let you know, might need to remind me though i'll have a hard time finding this comment a year from now
Your voice is deep af
I know and the camera has a hard time picking up on it I even use a bass recuser in post. I got a new mic now thats been helping
Are you a chilli head? That looks like a lot of spice on those bagels. What is your favorite hot pepper? Mine is, habanero.
Definitely, Im a fan of any hot sauce that uses roasted chili pepper and garlic as a base with habanero as the heat.
@@MainelyOutDoors Have you had Garlic Nandos Hot Sauce? It is amazing! It would also be good on grouse.
I haven't ill pick some up if i ever find it
@@MainelyOutDoors They sell Nandos Hot Sauces, at Market Basket.
I like the hunting vids like if you agree
Ive got some more coming
@@MainelyOutDoors Good can't wait
