My Mom and Dad bought this for us kids when it first came out in 1964. We were in Germany. My Dad was in the Army. I listened to it so much that parts of it I know by heart. Just now went searching for it and I too am very glad I found it! Thanks!!
This was my FAVORITE album when I was little. My other favorite was “Madeline” narrated by Carol Channing. Classics!
What a great story teller Danny Kaye was! Like the others who have provided comments, I wore this album and Stories from Faraway Places out when I was a pre-schooler. I probably learned how to use the family record player mainly in order to be able to play those two records by myself. I was thrilled to be able to share the CD with my son on car trips.
... I used to listen to this album. My father had given me the vinyl he received as a child. Thank you for uploading.
Me too, the record looked worn out, we listened so many times.
We are cooking some chicken tonight, and we could hear it sizzling in the oven, and I said to my husband, it’s just like on the Danny Kaye record, and he didn’t know it, so I came to CZcams, and sure enough, here it is! Thank you. :-)
“So zzhoosy, so zhoosy!”
My brothers and sisters and I still quote this record and we’re in our 40s and fifties!
I love this album ! Had it since I was 10 I know almost evey word by heart !
Thank you. Listened to this so many times, there was a groove in the record. I love all the stories.
Thanks. This is fantastic. It brings back so many fond memories of my childhood!
Absolutely wonderful! I am so glad I was able to find this and thank you so much for providing it for us. So many great memories of a happy childhood and listening to these records on my little Mattel record player. My favorite was The Water Nixie!
Thank you for this!!!!!🥰🇨🇦
My sisters and I listened to this record over and over again, and laughed together, way back in 1966-1967.

I still have this record but the grooves were destroyed since I played it endlessly as a little kid on a very old 'Webcor' Hi Fidelity record player given to my Dad from the 1964 Buick Dealership where he worked. Like others here - I learned the story by heart and also loved Clever Gretel with the sizzling sound effects! I loved imagining the animals talking to each other and having adventures with each other and people. That cat in Bremen Town musicians sounded might pitiful tho😁 I never thought about it at the time, but WTF did Rumplestiltskin want to eat the Queen's baby for? Cannibals in Fairytale Lane??? Ew.
