People don't actually hate the newer Minecraft, they just miss the older MC, Minecraft would be dead if new stuff haven't came, combat update is not that bad.
edit 12/23/23: hello, i dont like doing this, as I think it's kinda weird. But here's a followup, I would see this comment come back every once in a while within the last several years because of a reply. It's a good touching stone to go back on to a simpler time. My opinion has changed over time, I play Minecraft still but not as often at all anymore, it's typically in those two weeks periods where my friends and I are addicted to Minecraft just for our new world to fall silent again.
I was about 13 when I originally made this comment, now I'm 20 years old while in college. Time flies by fast, and eventually you're going to have to deal with the reality of adulthood. I hope everyone is doing good in the game of life, and if not, I hope you have the strength to push on.
1.9 Combat isn't suited for EVERYTHING, but I'd say it's a good way to balance console combat and PC combat to be relatively the same. 1.9+ servers can't still get around the new pvp system with plugins if they feel it's breaking the meta, but I'd say that update was just severly misunderstood by many. It was a breath of fresh air, and we as a community just decided to treat it like poison.
yah i say microsoft and mojang are doing a good job, but there too much emphissis on exploring instead of accually mining and crafting with the nether update, bastidons give too OP mid game loot and make people more interested in the sub-world than main, over-world
hopefully they realese a overworld biome update that make more biom diferances including ores which can act as a mini cave update by, for example making swamps and dark oak forests have way more lapis because of its magic properties

The difference between starbound and terraria is the mechanics and mindset.
The difference between minecraft and those is that the developers didn't quit and they weren't bought out. They also focused on expanding the game, not building on things that the game isn't intended on doing.

While that is a good thing to imagine, I am more reminded of flying with Elytra Wings with about 900+ Fireworks in my Inventory and we are still flying to 50,000 and further faster than the Game can load Chunks. 😂

I remember this being used in the 360 edition trailer. This means a lot to me actually. Hearing this gives me a lot of hype, the wait for MC on 360 was long but worth it.
When you really think about it comments from 9 years ago were already talking about nostalgia and how good Minecraft was in the past now its 2024 and people are talking about how good Minecraft was around that same time

Started playing in 1.2.5, Not that old I know. But good memories. I had so much fun on servers that didn't have donations. And ended up skyping the owner one day. Became helper. Then moderator, then admin. But then 1.3.2 came out. It changed everything. And I knew. Precious Minecraft would be forever different.

I started at 1.4.7, but I went back and played the Beta versions when the 1.6 launcher came out. I was blown away by how... Home-like everything was. It was still Minecraft. Less stuff, sure. But it was still the Minecraft I had so dearly loved at that time. Mid-Summer, 2012... Beautiful.

Minecraft is still a good game, after all this time. The community out there is the opposite now, and that really is a shame. The game itself has changed, sometimes for the best, sometimes for the worst. I don't really mind the changes myself, I'm just in it for the new blocks and monsters.

i honestly don't understand the negativity of minecraft's progression, and everyone saying how minecraft was ruined and complaining about how they can't play this earlier versions of it and how they miss the old mine craft, but if you just simply press edit profile in the launcher press allow old alpha or beta on the side, then you can to back to the simpler minecraft extremely easily, it is not like to have to use the current version of minecraft all the time!

Microsoft literally has done NOTHING all they did was buy the rights to the game. The team is almost exactly the same. Also, why is progression a bad thing in this game? Just because something has been a certain way for a long time doesn't mean a change to it is bad. 1.9 and 1.10 are the basis of a whole new era of the game.

The nostalgia is so real... I remember when I first started playing Minecraft, right after that big Halloween update with the Nether and whatnot. I was completely captured by the beauty of the game, and the serenity. And now, almost exactly 5 years later, I find myself playing until 3 or 4 in the morning every night on me and my older brothers' LAN server. Yes, Minecraft has changed in many ways, no one can deny that, but it is still Minecraft and it always will be. No other game's atmosphere will ever come close to Minecraft's, and for the sheer nostalgic fun me and my 19 and 24 year old brothers still play, and I doubt we'll stop anytime soon.

Ah I remember when I started playing Minecraft, my friends and I started to play the classic version in 2009 on the website... we just found that game randomly in the night because we were bored and wanted to play a game and then we found it. The game was so fun when we started it and we continued playing it (survival test mode, first alpha versions and the first minecraft servers for multiplayer) until like 2012 where we all did other things.
Minecraft was really something special, the mindset of the people back then was different on servers and so on. We were really happy when we finished our castle made out of cobblestone on our first server and build some farming houses and fields... damn those memories. Nowdays if you join a server you always see those copied and pasted "lobbys" which are so damn huge and perfectly created, you need to pay money to get a premium account on almost every server, everything is just PvP Modes with crying kids that write in some MLG shit language all the time and the build part? Pff... who cares about that anymore? There are just these weird property maps where everyone gets his 10x10 square where he puts his chests and a p*nis made out of diamond blocks...
Minecraft had a different feeling back then in the early days (I mostly liked the days in classic mode servers and alpha / beta servers) but nowdays I don't like the game anymore. I wouldn't say the game is bad, I more likely think it became better for people that like PvP and things like this but for me the game changed too much in a way that I don't like and most people that think the same as me left the game too and now the people that like these changes are left (which is the bigger part since the game gets more and more players each day, Mojang focuses on the mass with each update).
This is just my opinion, as I said, I think the game is still great for most people (who like the changes) but for me it became too much of an PvP-Roleplay game with all it's new realistic sounds, realistic combat or realistic world generation... I liked the old stuff in Minecraft, the simple things that made Minecraft to Minecraft are not here anymore.

We all remember, and I guess we always will. I remember when I started my first world and I felt so awesome when I built a house of sand with a bed in it. When I started multiplayer I met loads of friends, there will never be a time like that again, now there are only 6-10 year olds, you never make friends in minecraft anymore. But the worst thing to me is that no update feels like it felt 2-4 years ago. It really felt like mojang put everything into minecraft. Now the updates feel empty and not good at all any more.

Nether was really Dangerous and we often died.
Public Server without Protection (everybody was friendly and nobody was griefing)
Never got boring after hours or days playing the same Map.
The only Minigame was Spleef.

Nobody Plays Survival/ Most of the kids even don't know that it is a Survival Game and that you can craft....

The chaos and confusion that was Minecraft back in 2010 was what made it so great, ill never forget the hours of fun I had on servers with my friends. I'm in college now, but I still reminisce back then. So strange how just a game can give off so much emotions and nostalgia. Such a shame it will never be how it was back then, if only I can take a time machine back.
