#woodworking #DIY #desk - Jak na to + styl
Thanks for tuning in! I hope you enjoy this video. I wanted to see how budget-friendly I could be while creating an inexpensive desk, and this is the best I could come up with for now. I have also created plans, so check them out here diycreators.gumroad.com/l/40dollardesk
I've already told you I very much enjoy ur videos!! THIS video came at the right time!! I'm in need of a sewing table, not wanting to spend a lot of money (LOL) my husband had convenieced me to clean off several concrete blocks in the back yard and we would get a piece of wood for the top!! A solid piece of wood alone was going to cost close to a hundred bucks!! Neither of us "really" knowing how to work with wood (all that I do know I've learned from you) his idea, was going to be the only choice I had!! Now with this video and plans I can get from ur web - I myself can do this!! FOR LESS MONEY!!!! Without using the tilted saw (for the sides of desk) I could put two straight pieces in there, right? We have the saw that u cut the rest of the wood with. Oh I don't have the piece that makes hidden screw holes - but that's ok!! I have stain and varnish left from an old project!! Thank you thank you so very much!!!
Thanks for this - and all your other videos, as well!
I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving!
This was a great build, I loved the approach of making it for those with limited tools.
Thanks Glenn, see you in the next one.
Glad to see new content from you, keep it coming!!!

Always impressive! So many clever touches in this video, up to and including splitting the window in two during the sponsor segment. With the build continuing in one window, and the segment running in the other, we get the sponsor's message without any break in the action. Elegant and seamless. Great job, Glen!
Thank you, I very much appreciate it.
@@DIYCreatorswe are all proud of Glen! Keep up the great work!
Desk looks good. Best way to mate the 2 halves together is push them against each other, clamp them down and run the skil saw along the join - then they will be exactly parallel and should be a perfect join.
Interesting thought for getting a perfect join. Both pieces receive the same cut one on each side of the blad in this manner. Do you have experience here as I haven't seen that done anywhere? I am wondering on the safety of execution in this manner.
@@darkvirisI tried it out and it worked great! The key to remember which I should have thought of it before I did it is to clamp them to the work surface and not to each other. I made that mistake and had a scary kickback.
@@darkvirisI came here to ask something similar. I’m so glad the hive think responded. Kickback did not come across my mind until I read your comment. As below said, I think clamping to the base or as glen said, a table saw would be the options. To your question though, there are a few vids on long side joinery like this.
I clicked on this video hoping to save some money on furniture and I got exactly what I was looking for. The host's detailed instructions and affordable materials list made it seem like building a desk was within reach for anyone. It's inspired me to get creative and tackle more DIY projects around the house.
EXACTLY what I was looking for. I want to build a new desk for my workspace and this was everything I imagined the desk to be.
Yay! Another great video from my absolute favourite CZcams woodworker/diy'er. So glad you're back!
Thank you for the kind words.
I’ve been off YT for a while. I’m so glad to see you’re still here and creating awesome pieces! Hope all is well my friend ❤
Haha, well, I was away myself. It's good to be here 😀
I have a habit of over complicating things… I love how you kept this minimal, with an understanding I could make it as complicated as I want :)
I always learn something from your videos.
I absolutely LOVE when I see your face come across my CZcams feed with a new video! I love watching everything you build! You are such an inspiration!
Oh thank you! I love to hear that!
"Out of sight ≠ Hidden"
Taking that token of knowledge.
So simple and good lookin... And the budget!!! You seems to be one of the few famous youtube hobby woodworkers that did not started making things more and more complicated. Respect for that!
P.S. It's soooooo good to have you back here 🙂
This is a sign. More budget friendly builds coming soon. 😂
Haha, maybe IDK yet.
@@DIYCreatorsplease 🙏
In tough times, budget friendly is good 😂
Keep 'em coming Mr. Creatorz
Yes please! More budget friendly minimal tool builds.

Mate, you've been missed, this is so fresh and cleanly done, both the build and the editing.
That's a gorgeous build, and proof you can make construction lumber into beautiful furniture. Gets me inspired every time I see your videos. Glad to have you back.
Haha, construction lumber is inexpensive and readily available. Just take some time to plan out what is possible.
You're one of my favorite DIY CZcams creators, I never plan to take on doing any of this but enjoy watching these so much, thank you for all the effort you put into these!
Removing stain for a reveal never gets old! Nice work. 🇨🇦👍🏼
I stumbled upon "How to Build a Budget Desk - Step-by-Step DIY" video, and it inspired me to get creative with my furniture. The presenter's explanations were easy to understand, and I appreciated the emphasis on cost-effective solutions throughout the build.
Loved how the stain looked when you wiped it off. Beautiful. 👌
If you're looking to upgrade your workspace on a budget, this DIY desk tutorial is a winner. The step-by-step guide and affordable materials featured in the video turned what seemed like a daunting task into a manageable and enjoyable project, resulting in a custom desk that suits my needs perfectly.
I cannot get over what fantastic camera work you do! I bet it is a pleasure to work on the flooring you installed a while back!
I’m a retired mechanic and I’m learning to do wood projects your videos have helped me a lot plus my wife likes me having clean hands for a change
That's a very nice looking table. This shows how nice projects for the home can be made with basic tools and home store lumber and supplies. Thank you for showing us the build and the drawbacks you encountered. I look forward to your next video. I've always enjoyed them. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
So happy to see your creating again, looking forward to all the new content, thank you from Ireland 🇮🇪
That's a beautiful desk you did an excellent job as always and it's good to see you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Thank you! and Happy Thanksgiving
Love your videos. Clear and easy to follow. This is a great desk. One tip to make your life a little easier joining up the top. If you have it close and just want to match your joint perfectly, push the two pieces together and take your saw and "cut" the joint. Try to get your blade half on each piece, in a single pass. That way even if your blade is slightly off 90, they'll match perfectly.
Once again, another quality project. Way to go, man. Love your work.
If I'm trying to rip a glue seam, I put them both together and have light clamping to allow kirf to pass through. Then I just rip down the seam and they will be as close as you can get without a jointer or trying to jig it up on a tablesaw. I have planers, jointers, tablesaws (yes plural) but I love trying to make things work otherwise. For example, I had a bunch of walnut, and I really didn't want to have to power up all the things so I just pulled out track saw, a doweling jig and did it that way. A little bit of sanding and it was fine, and it was fun. Easy to just run things through jointer, planer and domino it all (I don't have a domino, that's still a crazy expensive tool!) but doing it by hand can work as well too.
Also, that ODyn straight edge is fire. Never saw that before! I Want one now. I have a johnson 8 footer but that odyn looks cooler.
Wow! Perfect for college students, home office newbies, or anyone who loves a good DIY project.
GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see you back to creating!
That desk looks awesome! I'm building it! By the way, pine has a lot of resin. You could blacken the legs with steelwool/vinegar for a really cheap option too. Like you said a preconditioner works (or water) to help make the treatment less blotchy.
Very happy to see that you're back and making awesome content again. Very happy. Love the build, and it's timely as I need to build myself a new desk! Thanks for the video.
Gotta give it to you man, this looks more like $400 than $40! Well done!
Kudos! What a friendly approach and detailed instructions make it a breeze to follow, even for beginners. Using affordable materials, the video proves that creating a functional and stylish desk doesn't have to break the bank, making it a must-watch for anyone looking to personalize their workspace.
I have made this same desk at least 50 times. I’ve sold them within two days on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for $150 a piece. Thanks for being an inspiration my guy 👍
Nice project, well done! Have used your technique @2:52 many times - with the exception of alternating the pocket screws so each side gets support from the screw. Yes more screws are used but I’ve found the result much stronger and less prone to warpage- especially with the size wood being used. Keep up the great projects and take care. Thanks
Thank you for coming back to CZcams. You videos are amazing.
This is a BEAUTIFUL desk in it's simplicity and style. You could sell it for quite a bit of money.
I'm not only impressed, I'm INSPIRED! Well done!
Glad to see you back with new projects. This will be a great process to follow to build a plant stand.
So glad you're back 🖤
Awesome video!!! Glad you’re back. Keep bringing em!
Good job, nice to see you back and working hard to show us great new things.
I really look forward to your videos. They calm my nerves and put my anxiety at ease. Thank you 🙏🏻
Absolutely beautiful 🤩. I already have a few wood grain table tops that are in need of legs and some 2x4’s/2x3’s just laying around my house. So this came in handy, because all of the replacement legs on Amazon and at retail stores are $40 and above for 4 straight legs. The legs you made would cost every bit of $100 or more on Amazon, but they would be much thinner. Great job 👏🏾.
"keep the cost down, put the work in else ware" 100% true... Great vid
Welcome back. Nice job. Thanks for making it simple.
Good to see you back creating again and I hope life is treating well . Cheers from Darren in Australia
Excellent build as aways!! My favorite DYI'r! So glad you are back man. I appreciate you!
That is gorgeous! Just the kind of thing I want to build for my teenage son’s bedroom. You are a great source of inspiration! Top work!
Beautiful desk glen!
Very glad youre back in the workshop and videoing for us
Youre looking well
Hope your doing good ! 👍
Nice work... Glad to have you back!!
Another great build. Nice work Glen!
Missed your videos! Glad you are back and bringing back the LEDs
This is exactly what we needed! Looking forward to more build videos from you!
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome build!! Great that you showed us how to build it with simple tools. Not all of us a jointers and plainers. Appreciate it. Cheers!!!
That's a clean looking desk. Diggin the added leds too. 👊🏼
So good to have you back on YT. Happy Thanksgiving!
Turned out beautiful
Nice one Glen. Very simple, very functional and it will last decades.
Glad you’re back. Nice project. Great for gifting grandkids.
Thanks for the video, Was a joy to watch. Glad to have you back.
Necessity...due to lack of money, is the mother of all inventions. I should make a placard as wood project out of that...
Very nice, and it feels as satisfying as any black-walnut-resin-took-three-months-to-built video to watch. Keep it up!
I re-purposed old bedroom doors into companion desks for my home business. I see now I can do much more. Thanks for the insight.
I turned a cheap old wardrobe in to a desk by sandwiching the two sides together and putting some legs on it 👍
Absolutely looks amazing!
Thanks for the vid! I really value that you owned the mistakes and flaws, and just powered through to an excellent final product. Thanks again!
Awesome work as usual, Glen! And the Aura is a quite appropriate sponsorship for a video like this.
Desk looks great!! Neat and clean
Im the biggest fan of the budget builds thank you! 🙏🏼
You build cool stuff. Glad to see you on here again.
Nice job! Love the colors!
Pretty cool project! Awesome you made it for less than 40 bucks!
Love the legs, at first sight I thought it was a steel frame, which would not have been possible within this budget. Good solution to make it out of wood and just paint it black!
glad to see you back at making vids
So simple but looks amazing
I liked some of the technique employed in building the desk. I would probably make the top and purchase a open frame so I can alternate between sitting and standing at home to alleviate back strains. The use of 2x12s for the top is an idea I had not considered as I was so focus on wanting to buy a live slab and build a river desk with my brother.
Gorgeous work sir! You are a master. If I build this, I might have to change just a few details to make the legs individually removable for easier moving
Great to have you back.
This was exactly what I needed to kickstart my DIY project!
Welcome back man! We missed you and your work!
Wow !!! Awesome work man !!!
thanks for keep em coming Glen... this chnnel actually gets my creative side going
I've built several table tops like this. Including a coffee table top and my kitchen table top. Save yourself the headache and use 5-1/4 stock (true 1 inch). Edges are square and the boards are much straighter. There is still some sanding but if you line it up right and take your time, you can limit it. You can use 2X stock but it's a ton of extra work and I don't have time for that.
I love these budget builds!
Ingenious! I love it. Thanks for sharing such a detailed video. I cannot wait to try making one for my reno'd room.
Turn out great brother, can't say how much I love seeing back at it! Keep up the great work!
Sir…thank you! I’ve been looking at the ikea build everyone is doing but it was already over 400 dollars. I just spent around 1,500 bucks upgrading my pc and was looking for ways to save to get a desk! Thank you! Subscribed!
Looks great. Your best bet would be to leave the lumber in a dry environment for as long as possible at home before using it. Months if possible. Framing lumber moves around a lot and the warp you sanded out won't be the end of the warping you're going to see. Love the design!
I Truly appreciate makwrs that show their mistakes, and, ways to fix them !
Plus your videos are chock full of helpful tips ! 😀
Great tip tinting the filler! Definitely gonna use that one in the future
superb piece of work
You're Awesome bro, stay blessed. SHALOM from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Nice. Glad to see you back.
Good to see you back man. Nice work
Thank you, 😃
Thanks for the inspiration.
My daughter going to high school and she needs a new desk.
So thank you!
Nice video. Great desk build. Glad to see you back at production bro. Always enjoyed your content.
Glad your back, enjoyed this one since I'm moving soon and thinking about what to do for a new computer desk. I like the idea of diy to my own dimensions! Keep up the great work.
Really nice work. Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you for sharing. There are so many good tips.
Beautiful
Good to have you back.
My son and i are looking at building a new desk. Im going to let him design and build most of it
Great job! That looks amazing. You are so talented! Love your videos.
Combine ad with working process is a genius idea.
