Girrlllll.... I went all out CRAY CRAY declutter mode when I was super stressed and anxiety was on 100000 few weeks ago. The outcome - best declutter of all things I always get frustrated with, indecision, fed up and over all the STUFFFFF! Literally if I touched something in my way, it was in the bag ASAP. Large black bags are my 100% go to.

Really good idea. Reasoning out how much time a task should take cancels out the perfectionistic and unrealistic fear that it will take forever. And it’s right there in black and hot pink.

I tried this today and got 3 done! Which is so awesome as we are a couple of days into lockdown 3.0 and school at home. So nice to feel like I actually achieved something and not just swept up in the chaos of life, which is now. I used smaller post it’s and stuck the finished ones into my planner, so I can see my achievement but not need to write it twice! Thanks! Loving your videos from Australia x

The kids cabinet looks nice! I was laughing when you were about to say you had no idea where the lid was. I was thinking "I have no idea who Lyla is! Love your kids names!

Love this idea! Sometimes it all feels overwhelming but when you break it up into timed activities, I can definitely spare 5 or 10 minutes here or there!

Great idea! 😃 Breaking tasks up into bite size pieces is a wonderful way to avoid feeling overwhelmed! 💗 I keep a running to do list on my phone and then when I have time/energy, I whittle away at it. 🌷

This is similar to how I have to sometimes make myself start cleaning. I just randomly set the timer on my watch for 15-20 minutes and tell myself to just do whatever task feels less daunting until it's finished or the time runs out, whichever comes first. Usually, i get so into that I just keep resetting the timer to see how much more I can accomplish in x amount of time.

I’m in the “maintenance” mode of decluttering. 🙂 I tend not to keep lots of stuff around, so it’s fairly easy for me to declutter! I do have to make sure the kids clothes & toys get a run through regularly because those are our trouble spots.

Nice! I've literally been decluttering since last fall (on and off) and am just getting our basement done. But it's over 20 years worth of married life, 2 kiddos, 5 professional career changes between us, etc. Just LOTS of stuff...I've donated so much stuff.

Such a great idea! I will definitely be trying it. Most of our areas are fairly well decluttered at this point, but there are a few spots that have been nagging me.

The sticky note system is terrific!
But mine are only 5, 10 and 15 minutes. I break the decluttering down into small areas. For example I may just clean out all of the condiments like this:
    Take all out of fridge
    Toss outdated stuff
Wipe jars and their rims clean
Decant some items into different containers
It may take a few times to get the entire fridge done but it’s guaranteed to get done when I do it like this.

I like the idea of breaking down decluttering (or any) tasks into 5, 10, 20, 30, whatever minute blocks, but looking at those Post-It notes everywhere would bother me, if I'm being honest. Another 5-10 minute task is going through and cleaning a fridge or freezer door.

I love this idea!!! I really need to declutter my jewelry. My daughter got rid of most of her jewelry. She is 14. I was like. I need to do this, too!! I fell prey to MLM jewelry parties one too many times.

I think this is brilliant! Cannot wait to try it. The visual reminder with the time on it seems so simple but also makes you see that you can work on it a bit at a time . Totally random, but can you do a hair tutorial on your waves?

5-10 min for your medicines! We have a set of clear drawers with labels for the categories. It's good to do a pass through it to get rid of very expired things and see what you may need to get more of.
