    Jat has a great set up, clean and safety focused. Great to see a 25 YO Aircraft get a new life after such a busy life safely getting pax all over the world safely. After the conversion and C-check she will be like new.

      "Safety focused"??? So you didn't see the people standing around near a suspended load at 02:50?

    Watching the preparation of a 25 year old plane for a new life is incredibly interesting.
    The engine test facility is also very interesting, in particular the IT equipment still in use. (19:40) It's a long time since I've seen CRTs in play and even longer since I saw a dot matrix printer in an office. However, this business is about maximising the use of existing technological resources, so why not?? It's very appropriate that they practice what the preach.
    Thanks to Flightradar24 for yet another outstanding video.

      You can actually buy new dot matrix printers. If it ain't broke, no need to fix it.

      @davidk8860 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Those CRTs are not normal computer "monitors", but are actually serial terminals, cabled through DB-25 or some other serial cabling, probably running somewhere between 9,600 and 56k baud rate. So, this facility probably has a mainframe or mini-computer running in a remote datacenter, and those terminals (which were never sold with flat-screen displays) may be an essential link to information.
      Yes, there are terminal emulators that run on a PC...so someone could replace the terminals with computers running a full-screen terminal app, but it just may be the case that the dedicated terminal is a more accurate terminal as well as more reliable for keeping a link going with the remote mainframe system.

    I have heard that when an aircraft reaches its second "D" check is when the airlines will retire it and it is usually a prime candidate for a freighter conversion. The D check is the most detailed and costly inspection of an aircraft since it must basically be disassembled down to the basic airframe. It’s logical to convert prime airframes to freighters since they have to be torn down anyways.
    Love to see more detailed videos of the conversion process.

    Great video! I am a Serbian working as an AME-S in Canada and it’s great to see that they’re doing these big jobs in Serbia.
    It shows that these guys have knowledge, skill and technology for these types of projects which will also pave the way for the bigger ones in the future.
