      No one has noticed this (and one argued with me) but if you go back and watch all of the angles of the scene, Stormfront almost certainly still has her left hand. You can see her hand below the charm portion of her costume (as seen in the far away angle) and Homelander blocks this in the up close shot with camera trickery. I think that is important because she can still do her Stormie Powers 😂

    • @kingol4801
      @kingol4801 Před 3 lety +26

      @@bwillsskates2638 Read the entire thing for full explanation as to why not:
      On a second note, I will put rant on the end for the actual message to be readable first. Not real, logical explanation:
      I don’t get why people are so confused about telekinesis as if it is some “broken” power. They fail to realize that telekinesis has limits and works pretty logically if you take the restraints of the “gory” storytelling part (or, namely, most of telekinesis we see on TV is a PG version of it).
      For example, do you think that telekinesis which is capable of exerting as much force as your finger push is weak?
      If you do, you are terribly mistaken. Even with that limited telekinesis you can practically push the human heart from the inside, which WILL kill them. Why nobody does it? Because there would be no story, as it is very powerful (even in minimal efforts) .... with even weaker telekinesis you can cause a stroke by closing the blood flow of major arteries etc, or simply not allowing air to reach lungs for a few minutes by blocking off the canal.
      Now, in “boys” that girl in the hospital could squeeze that metallic door like it was noting (with enough force applied by telekinesis on it). OF COURSE she can explode people’s head (or anybody like her) - she exerts WAAY more force to bend that metallic door, whereas human skull is far less durable than that (hell, it is practically squeezing melon, which is not too difficult to do).
      Now, consider Homelander. It is likely that he can survive that nuclear blast (that is tremendous force experienced form the outside), as referenced by Vought with “they tried everything on him” and nuke is pretty much an elephant in the room.
      Now, if his insides were not durable, Boys (or Vought) could simply do the same trick as with plugging remote detonator bomb up his *** to control him). They don’t to it, and hence, it is logical to assume that Homelander is as durable on the outside as he is on the inside.
      Now, consider that telekinesis of the girl. If Homelander can survive up to a nuke (assumption), then, he can survive a bit less than that on the inside (still A LOT).
      Take the power of that girl into account - it might squeeze think metal doors. That is still not enough. In order to push the Homelander from the inside firmly enough to cause his head to explode you need to apply MUCH MUCH more force than to squeeze some metallic doors.
      For dramatic effect they might make him bleed for the nose a bit, that is it.
      Also, creators admitted than Translucent’s death made no sense but was done so only for dramatic effect. In reality, his skin is as invincible on the inside as on the outside. So, what we should have see instead would be Translucent having “explosive diarrhea”, quite literally, with his organs flowing out in the distance. That what was scripted. Instead, show runners decided to not apply logic and go with a more impactful and graphic scene (Hughie covered in blood etc, which is far more dramatic and makes for a better visual).
      Same rules apply to Homelander then, and because he is invincible on the insides too (or otherwise he would have a bomb implanted by Vought long ago), he won’t get more from that relatively (for him) easy telekinetic impact than some nose bleed (again, for dramatic effect only).
      Telekinesis is pretty much force applied on the area. When you get an invincible dude, you need MUCH MUCH more force to achieve the same effect as on some people... Or even some supes, A-train was not that durable as his leg was broken by an empowered baseball bat hit (this is why Shockwave died, as he is not THAT much more durable than a human and her powers were enough). Homelander is magnitudes more durable than that, or else Kimiko or Maeve would easily kill him. Hence, won’t work on him.
      Now rant, in case if you are still reading:
      Homelander is pretty much a lazy, sociopathic, asocial Superman. And what makes him scary is that he is impossible to get rid off. If they could, then there would be no TV series (or that flop of a comic book ending).
      There is no virtually stopping him if he goes nuts (which he gets close to). And, unlike Superman, no kryptonite/magic and other convenient BS - invincibility is invincibility. Full stop.
      In the deleted scene he flies through space and charges up his lazer. And because of the deleted season 1 finale (Homelander being on top of the roof doing you know what) becoming season 2 finale, it makes sense that this season 2 deleted finale scene will likely become season 3 finale. This is so because show was extended due to its good reception, so, they will push the story some more before making Homelander go ham.
      He is invincible. That is his main selling point (along with flight, super-strength, and lasers etc). He is Superman parody, except he is unstoppable in this universe, and hence, terrifying.
      Just because we don’t get to see his full power potential does not mean it is not up there. I think he is pretty much Superman level of power, but never uses them because he does not need to (DCEU Superman that is, which he is a clear parody of, and DCEU Superman moved tectonic plates and was considered to be “stronger than a planet”).
      I don’t get people who say Homelander is weak. Hell no. TV explores more interesting concepts than Billy Butcher juicing up on V and curb stomping him (or Black Noir who did evil stuff in comics, more specifically). It does not follow comic books, as it has a more modernized look on the Superhero matter.
      Furthermore, Boys juicing on V and beating it out of the seven would be a very cliche, terrible message.
      Rant is over!

  • @jorgelizaso978
    @jorgelizaso978 Před 3 lety +13

    Indeed the way they showed Translucent died had a huge error. If the skin is impervious to damage from the outside cause it's made from certain carbon material, it should be the same way from the inside. So when he exploded, he should have died, yes, but they shouldn't have shown that he got in a million pieces, cause the invulnerable skin should have prevented his guts from flying away.
    He should have just fell as a shapeless invisible bag of meat.
    Then we have the problem that even his skin being invulnerable it doesn't repell the kinetic energy, so a good hit with a steel crowbar should broke his bones and internal organs even if it doesn't damage the skin, but that would be too much to ask for a superhero/sci-fi show, so it's ok to bypass that fact for the sake of the plot.

    The problem is comparing Translucent with Homelander. Translucent can make only his skin hard and invulnerable while Homelander may just be invulnerable everywhere. It seems Victoria powers is expanding causing things to eventually "break" when it reaches a critical level. So you expand a balloon until it can no longer contain the expansion and it will break but now you enclose the ballon inside a iron ball. Now you would need exponential stronger expansion to cause the balloon to explode. As for Stormfront, her main power is not invulnerability like Homelander but regeneration. That is why Homelander could still laser her breast but we see the scars disappear later and why she is aging slower. At the end the damage cause to her was so massive that she would need more time to regenerate than usual.

It could very well turn the bodies internal organs against themselves. The point is without data we just don't know but if it is a turn your body against itself verses just putting an invisible bubble in someone's head to pop it, well in Any case we'll see. Personally I think that a good chunk of how homelander sees himself is propagated by Vought to keep him where they need him.
