Probably an unpopular opinion but I don't think we need more resorts. I would prefer Disney focus first on increasing entertainment at the parks and capacity issues.
I hear you. But I just know they're gonna do it!
That would be nice but dvc is different division/ business. I am not sure if they cut budget from eve and transfer funds to other divisons
Most DVC visitors don’t spend all day or even every day in the parks. I would argue they are not the biggest influence on park capacity. Personally, DVC members should have more perks like early entry and extra hours since we are invested in the brand for 20-40 years.
We’ve said multiple times that if PO French Quarter was DVC we would buy there in a heartbeat!!! Beignets, jazz music, Cajun/creole food and all the Princess and the Frog characters for special dining - I’m IN!! Would also LOVE Haunted Mansion resort!
Great minds think alike! They HAVE to nail the food, though, and bring a South Louisiana chef to oversee food and bev ops there.
Wherever the next DVC is, I am praying there’s a major Skyliner expansion with it. It’s truly a game changer, AFAIAC.
I am hoping they don't expand it to AKL as the price would sky rocket. (a jungle cruise boat makes much more sense as it's really close and connected by water. ) Then connect the AK park to the skyliner on the new Allstars / AK / Coronado line
@@People_of_the_Mouse good point, everyone wants upgrades or additions then complain when dues are expensive, like the cabins people want to bring dogs as they may not have free options at home and don't want to pay for boarding, then get bent out of shape because cleaning up after is more intense, and expensive. Just like the raise the Disney bus drivers got, did people think that cost was not going to be in the dues🤔
@@People_of_the_Mouse yeah but AKL is the resort that maybe needs it the most (transportation options). It’s the one thing that keeps us from paying the the premium price for deluxe when the bus service is all you get
Most deluxe resorts are themed after locations/places. A Persian DVC tower/palace with the lobby like an open air bazaar is appealing. The rooms could have an Aladdin theme.
My 12 year old had a great idea for a Japanese themed hotel. They could incorporate Big hero 6. And the restaurant options are so good. Have it be an Epcot area hotel with skyliner access.🇯🇵
Um. Yes. Take discovery island and make it a pirates resort. Make it look like the fire scene from the ride. Transportation is those little boats that zip around and kinda look like pirate ships.kids can take “swords” training. Which will be like Olympic fencing. (Not violent) and teach beginner sailing. Cmon!!!!
Oooh a resort on Discovery Island - great idea!
Rob has the best idea because it includes a 5th gate. I’d love it to be connected to the park and heavily Disney themed on a deluxe way.
I also love the idea of a beautiful relaxing resort like Derek’s Santorini
An Asian inspired resort with traditional style architecture. Using portions from all Asian style countries. Serving hibachi, sushi, etc. Can use Milan, Rya as a part of theme. Incorporate maybe San fransokyo. Would be a great resort.
My idea for a dvc resort would be to put a resort in the Caribbean. Kinda like aulani, but with Caribbean feel. live music at night. Great food. Lazy river and small pirates of the Caribbean water park. Movies under the stars on the beach. Plenty of activies such as snorkeling, kayaks, cornhole, volleyball, billiards and such. A community hall like boardwalk. Gym and spa. Part of the experience could have optional Disney cruise ships take you to the island and leave you for how ever many days then take u back.
Frozen theme, Ice Castle,, Blizzard Beach theme pool,,and Princess Restaurants and what not
Genius
Now you’ve got me doing finger guns back at ya’, when it comes to Jeff saying Hello!🤣
Hear me out- an EPCOT festivals resort! Have different sections of hotel based on different festivals and build it at the entrance near the monorail (better yet on monorail line).
Festival of the arts pool area with lights that change the color of the water when special enabled “paintbrush” pool noodles touch the water. Have “watercolor” paint areas (water activated areas for kids to paint and play, etc). Bar/snack area with festival food booth items past and present.
Flower and Garden festival inspired recreation areas complete with Disney character topiaries throughout the resort and picturesque picnic areas. Have garden activities and cooking classes as well as butterfly center.
Food and wine festival indoor/outdoor food court area with a stage area for Eat to the Beat style entertainment.
Finally, festival of the holidays would have it’s own interior area decorated year round with holiday shops (like an eclectic European Christmas market) and festive dining options including an ice bar, indoor ice skating, fake snowball fight areas, and even a beach area with ornament and dreidel shaped beach balls.
The rooms could be themed to the various countries with nods in each area to the various festivals.
It would make a great staycation for us and having the various countries represented may offer enough variety to keep the experience fresh and new over many visits.
I’m obsessed with Amy’s doggie DVC idea 🥰
Oh my God, they’re all good. Add the dog park to Fort wilderness build the Greek resort in Epcot, and put the haunted mansion back in the backside of Magic Kingdom.
I really want a ski resort. I want to enjoy looking at the snow on the mountains somewhere. I don’t ski, so I don’t care if the resort doesn’t have its own lift or slopes, they could partner with existing facilities. Like how you can book tours and excursions at Aulani. I imagine there are plenty of locations that could accommodate this type of thing, and I would love to be there even in the summer months when there is no snow. Seeing snow on the castles in Paris and Tokyo makes me want to be there even more than I already want to.
Unfortunately I don’t think they are ever going to build another grand resort. When when joined in 2001 we were told all the resorts will always be highly theme and large. And they have not lived up to that promise
We're looking at you, Riviera.
Love to see a DVC Paris french style resort connect on the back side Epcot with park entrance..
Asian themed like for Mulan or Raya and the Last Dragon. Make it look like a palace.
All are GREAT ideas, but I like Paul's the best!
We need more resorts and more transportation options at the resorts. skyliner, boats, and monorail make such a difference.
I would throw my money at a Haunted Mansion resort, I also really like the idea of a Greek resort that has access to Epcot. In the end I agree either Bay Lake phase 2 or Yacht Club would be easiest and would sell really well.
I love the idea for a hotel not DVC. Think DVC would mess it up somewhat
I like Rob's idea 5th gate with a matching resort
Love these ideas! I would like something with Disney Villains at the resorts & parks!
Instead of more nature or more NO, How about a Mexican resort with Encanto and entrance through the Mexican pavilion? We have nature at WL and New Orleans at Port Orleans resort
Love the Greek theme. That gets my vote. I would buy points instantly.
I'd love to see a MesoAmerican hotel, like Mayan/Aztec tying in Coco, Encanto, Emperor's New Groove... Or a Southwestern Adobe style hotel that gives Radiator Springs vibes. There's so much culture in the western hemisphere and I feel everytime they think of luxury or deluxe concepts developers immediately think European. It'd be interesting to see. I love the Villain theme because it sounds the most immersive of all the concepts and returns to kitschy theming.
River Country Resort with a modified river country in courtyard
..built on reflections site😊
Love Derek’s idea for a Santorini style resort.. You can make check payable to Sc%&$# , this is Derek DeBoer and I approve this message.. 🤣🤣🤣
I have been looking into the DVC world I have been watching all kinds of videos and reading articles. The only thing that is currently holding me back from jumping in is the lack of disney theming in the rooms.
I really Like all the images of the “resorts”
Amy's dog theme idea would be a huge revenue stream as each of her ideas had income possibilities in multiple ways. If it was a very limited capacity, boutique resort it would have huge demand-low supply aspect to it. I think Amy's idea would be best as non-DVC.
Agree. Dog people who bring their dog on vacation would spend a ton of money on that dog too.
Epcot connected would be awesome, but where do you put it for it to have its own entrance? There's that space behind the Africa Outpost, which could be used to build a showcase and hotel. Access/parking to the hotel probably requires a build over the waterway along avenue of the stars. That idea is way more exciting than a parking lot Epcot resort, but space is definitely more limited, without moving other stuff around, like cast parking and other backlot services.
I like the idea of Paul’s New Orleans resort but not where he wants it. Expand the area behind the new Tiana ride into New Orlean Square (leaving Frontierland alone) and include a resort with direct access to the park. I agree with Jeff that WDW needs a resort with direct access to a park.
I think in any new resort transportation needs to be the key. It has to be easy to get to and from the parks.
And I feel if they put the haunted mansion resort where reflections was supposed to go, it would fit with the theming in the area.
I would love one in the San Diego area, quick train ride to Anaheim and you can visit DL resort too.
Also, Yacht Club has that convention space so that could be targeted for a DVC addition as well.
would love to see a Walt Disney World hotel similar to VDH. Lobby would have blueprints and maps of the Florida Project as the gateway to the rest of the hotel, and the wings or towers of the resort could be themed to attractions like Haunted Mansion, Small World, Bayou/Frontierland etc. imagine the 70s nostalgia at the gift shop or restaurants! definitely untapped potential at WDW
The two DVC resorts that seem to always be booked solid at all times are Boardwalk and Beach Club, so I would love to see something else go up at Epcot for DVC!!! That could be a game changer! But I absolutely love Panda’s idea of a Haunted Mansion themed resort! Great episode! All had great ideas for sure!
Panda’s idea is interesting, makes one wonder and dream, thank you.
I'm voting for Panda with the Haunted Mansion. That would be awesome!
I think you guys just did more imagineering then Disney has done in years!
Japan is the easy and obvious one. It could be on the loop but it surely would be excellent next to Epcot too maybe near the front entrance???? People love Japanese culture, even just Asian culture. Food is great too. It would be beautiful and only of it's kind in region in many ways. Reflections and others aren't inspired enough.
I support the preference for a larger spread out resort and less towers. I also would like a fantasy resort themed like Frozen and/or castle-like and it has to have a big body of water and mountainous backdrop too --like the Fjords or Switzerland's lakes.
Adding to the Bay Lake tower resort would be very appealing to me. The studios at the current tower are too small so make them bigger in the new addition- i would like it to be where the current garden wing is and maybe make it more futuristic--think the Jetsons-like
I think they need a resort or an Epcot pavilion themed to Brazil. These folks come to WDW a lot and spend a lot of money there. Their country is huge and their culture isn't represented at all at WDW. At least one Spanish speaking Latin American country is represented in Epcot and the Coronado addresses Spanish influence in the USA, but there is no reference to Brazil. The rainforest and Iguazu Falls would make for a beautiful resort theme.
Love your idea, Paul! It would be beautiful over by the water. i think the whole Tiana/Bayou idea would completely work (not to take anything away from the Port Orleans moderates).
You guys are the best!
Would love A winter/swiss alps resort with an indoor ice rink and dinner show. OR an outer space resort
Did Disney announce an opening date yet for the Haunted Mansion DVC resort? This is the first official announcement I’ve heard. Thx for sharing the info and details!👍🏼
Keep working around Caribbean Beach. Redo the area between Riveria and Skyliner Station to Hollywood Studios. Could be Swiss Alps themed. Then continue around until you have Euro themed DVC in place of Caribbean Beach.
Great episode - really fun to think about all the possibilities! Probably my favorite is the Greek resort (sorry Derek - I lean towards Jeff’s version attached to Epcot because it reminds me of both VGC (one of my home resorts) and Mira Costa at TDR and because with grown kids, I’m in more of an Epcot phase but check back in a few years in case I have grandkids lol). I do wonder how in the world you’ll get the steep hill feel in flat FL, lol… I know Disney works wonders with forced perspective but… 😂. I am also a (moderate) DCL-er and ABD-er and agree that being at Disney, then going to the “real” places, Disney does a great job at making you feel like you are really there, so I would vote for an Asian-themed resort - not sure where exactly, but maybe attached to the Japan or China pavilion at Epcot with an entrance…. Also, I get that it’s unlikely that DVC will ever build another non-park resort, but I would love a Park City/ski resort DVC. Someone mentioned Tahoe which is lovely, but I think Park City might be a better choice since it’s slightly more centrally located and has other ski options (but Tahoe might be a better choice for the summer). Anyway, just my 2 cents - fun to imagine! And the AI-generated images were the bomb!😊
Haunted Mansion would be INSANELY popular! I'm in!
Bring Aulani to California somewhere down in Orange County or San Diego.
Just plus up Port Orleans French Quarter and go DVC with it.
Derek does understand there are no hills in WDW.
DVC on the ships
I wish they would turn all of POFQ into DVC
Finally build reflection lol j/k
OMG, I want this resort! 😍
We know that Silicon Valley, California is the Driving force to our Countries Economy. We also have all those celebrities in Southern California will all that money. DVC should add a DVC Resort to Lake Tahoe, California. We know that Aulani is not sold out. Due to the fact it is more than a 5-hour flight from California. Lake Tahoe is within about a 1-hour flight from southern California. That would be a great selling point. I believe DVC would have no trouble selling out in Lake Tahoe.
Derek has a great idea but there is absolutely no hills. How much earth would it take to create the cliff elevation?
I think Derek and Jeff are so on point. It seems like the brief for identifying the theme for most of the DVC resorts is “Where, and even when, do you want to go on vacation? You can do it here at Disney!”. Maybe we could get a new South/Central American themed resort to go along with behind Big Thunder or the Animal Kingdom teased changes and get a resort direct to park entry with that.
But, if there were a Haunted Mansion themed resort, I think I would stay there EVERY TRIP!
I really want to see that has the water parks right around the corner.
Derek and Jeff should get Disney ASAP!
I like Panda’s idea but I don’t think Disney would ever build it so I have to go with Derek’s Santorini Resort👍
Hundreds of themes and ideas for new resorts, but a 5th gate is desperately needed to spread out crowds.
Awesome show 😉
I like ski resort idea. That should be sellout product
Hey, how about people have four dogs? Why cut it off at three? 😉 Personally I would prefer a Cat Resort! 😂
When my family went to Disney World in 1975, we stayed at Fort Wilderness in a Motor Home. Our Poodle, Coco, had to stay at The Disney Kennel.
Using IP, how about an Atlantis or Treasure Planet themed resort, possibly part of a third gate at Disneyland
Derek’s poly lamp was going to burn down his office that was the ticking
Would love a Disneland Paris DVC resport. From the east coast Paris is about the same distance as Aulani is from the west coast.
What will DVC will do next? Remove more perks and add more conditions to use age, and raise the minimum buy in for a blue card.
If a Haunted Mansion themed DVC was built, I want the HM themed restaurant that was featured in DSNY Newscast.
Hercules theming at a Greek Islands DVC resort would be awesome.
Reflection with an Oliver and Company theme for dog lovers would be great. Those rooms could be a variety of sizes cabins. Disney can return the new remodeled cabins to Fort Wilderness.
Put a Ratatouille themed DVC at Epcot. This resort could include cooking classes, wine tasting, and other Food and Wine Festival antics. Sorry, I have no faith in the Festival Pavillion ever getting done. The second idea with the Ratatouille hotel would be to have it by France with its own private entrance.
Really like the Villains resort
I would like one that would force disneys hand to stay in theme and not make it feel like a holiday inn - fantasyland castle or a space retro theme or north pole. Not sure how to make the exterior work 😅
The Greek resort would be nice
What AI system did you use in this episode?
Greek Resort!!
I think since ecology is such a hot topic, a resort based upon the Amazon rain forest kind of themed around the flora and fauna. They did this type of resort with Animal Kingdom so why not the Amazon???
Amy, and whose dog would not be on the bed🤔 because our dog would be on the bed head on the pillow
Derek, don't you think making moderate resorts DVC it would reduce the value of all DVC properties?
Cinderella's Castle resort
All the room doors creak and a voice says welcome foolish mortals as you enter.
Yacht Club
I love dogs but I can just see dogs urinating on chairs, benches, table legs etc. and the poop everywhere.
Huge dog lover but yeah it's a no. Ha should be space for them in some places but that resort sounds like no sleep, smells, and annoying owners.
Hello
Gyro = yee row
Greek gods or consolations
I give Amy's Canine Kingdom Villas a huge yes!
We always have had a dog , but they need to stay home while we are on vacation, vacation means relaxing and doing whatever, not worried about our non human family member. But we also have support at home where he can stay with friends/family that stay with him at our house.
