I just finished building the handrail on my deck czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z and used this great little router to clean up the top rail before the final sanding and stain. It was light weight but packed lots of power. Either size battery didn't seem to make it top heavy and I'm a 64 yr old women so I really appreciated how easy it was to use...................... CORDLESS only way to go !!

Thank you, I just picked the same or a similar Porter Cable router on Craigslist and it's good to see someone who knows how to use it before I go tinker with it.

If you are doing joinery that requires a male router bit and a matching female router bit such as the two required to do tongue and groove joints quickly instead of pulling the shank up a bit off the bottom before tightening it place a small hard rubber faucet washer in the bottom of the collet. then drop in your bit and tighten. Now adjust the router to where you want it to cut. When you change to the other bit no height adjustment will be necessary. It will already be a perfect match because the faucet washer is holding both shanks to the same height off the bottom. (saw it on another video and tried it)

Bottoming a bit can cause a stuck collect and if the collect is stuck it won't allow the nut to turn out best to not bottom out the bit if you don't want to be cutting off the nut and replacing it. Have done this and i know it happens. Have seen other use a piece of hard plastic or hard rubber like a Water tap seal donut.

Hi Daniel, there is no spindle lock on the P-C 7604 router. You’ll need to use two wrenches to change a bit with that router.

Can you change the collet to receive larger bits

    • @rockler
