Great to see you back online Magnus! I like that old school cool rucksack a lot. Everything doesn't have to be molle acceptable. I have an old style pack similar to that one and it's heavy canvas which over the years has faded from olive drab to a golden tan. No molle but it has some D rings, etc. Merry Christmas my friend!!!!!
Thanks Magnus for your advice cause at the end I bought the rucksack used and is almost in new condition and I really like it thanks again and keep going
Definitely a classic ruck. I like your point about not filling it to the max so you can 1) have room if you need to put something in it along the way and 2) you can see what you have down in it when you open it. Yes, in the good ol' days, those pass-throughs would have been referred to as ski slots by pack makers, but now it seems few pack makers include them except in their "bushcraft" packs and then they never mention skis at all.
I like those canvas packs. They are built to last. That is for sure. I always enjoy watching your videos and wish like hell I could take a trip to your country. It is beautiful. Hang tough Magnus.
Say Heah Magniosh, Check out the Maxpedition Kodiak Gearsling. It's a big one but very managable, You can swing it around to your front. It has a side build in that fit's my H. B. 17" Agdor or my H. B. Small Forest Axe. I also have my Necessities Pouch attached to the Front shoulder strap and my diectional compass. And it's tough.,,.
Hello there Magnus and nice to see you back, that's a good little pack for a day in the woods, I've seen similar bags in my local military surplus shop but I got a Swedish LK35 with external frame, brilliant back pack, you and Lisa have a happy Christmas mate and good new year, atb, Paul.
magnus andersson There good packs, I added side pockets to carry my fire kit, spare knife, folding saw and other small items, and the shoulder straps and waist belt of the Alice Pack, very comfortable, atb.
Hi Magnus, hope you are well not seen any videos from you recently, can I ask you a quick question, where did you get your army surplus sleeping mat from that you put in the back of your GMR, I have just purchased one and it did not come with a sleeping matt, I do really enjoy your videos and like I said hope you are well my friend, many thanks, Nick.
more porridge hahaha, like it. Hey question for you : a couple of years ago you tested out a kershaw camp 10, I am thinking of trying one and was just wondering if your thoughts on it have changed over the last couple of years? Oh, and merry Christmas to you and Lisa!
My tought about big knife is like this. I love to use them but hate to carry them. That knife is as good today as the first day i bought it. But if i must choose to bring a big chopp tool i take the axe. Axe is more usable for the borial forest. But!!! When Lisa and i build a shelter last year we fight about the Camp 10. Its a wonderfull tool to chop small branches and small threes.
Hi Magnus, on the strength of your no nonsense review I also purchased one of these ruck sacks, I have since learnt that they are issued with a sleeping mat that helps the Rucksack keep its shape and adds padding to stop the contents digging into your back, Ive treated mine with NIKWAX tent & Gear solarproof. one modification I may consider is drainage rivets at the bottom of the side pockets, finally would it be possible you could do a review of the jacket your wearing in the video, as this also looks like a useful piece of kit, all the best "H"
I will be sure to look out for one, following on from your video on Swedish army kit I also have x2 green army caps, the type that has fold down ear flaps and a inner lip that folds down across the forehead, prevents cold air getting underneath, all good stuff and only £5 each .... Bargain, all the best, "H" Out!
Hey nice review! Just got mine in the mail yesterday! Stuffed it up and wore it around the yard for an hour or so. I really like it. I got the sleep pad that's made for it and it's rather nice how it fits in the pocket inside. I did notice that I will have to slim down how much I take with me, idea is that one or two over night and day pack.
You never know what you must put in. A standards pack should not be more than this lets say you go fishing you must have room for tackle boxes and that kind of stuff.
i have one and it not stand water at al and the straps are hard to open and close. Take this surplus for the same price thats my recomendation. This one is far stronger built to.
I always appreciate your reviews, they're short and to the point. I've been considering one of these for a while and I think your review and actually seeing somebody with the rucksack may have encouraged me to buy one. I noticed that you didn't use or mention the pocket that these have for a sleeping pad that also acts as an internal frame and a bit of a back cushion and I'm wondering why you omitted mentioning it.
Thank you Kenneth. That pocket for a pad i have put down a sitting pad and a drum bag. I have not have any trouble that the sack is uncomfortable at the back without the sitting pad as cover. But i have put it there becouse the pad is flat and thats a good place to putting it then.
Good review Magnus, I agree, if you use the GMR light weight, it is an awesome pack. Fully loaded it got uncomfortable for me back in the days. Not because the straps were cutting in my shoulders, but the backpack was too top heavy imho. Cheers, Marc
eugen jigane its only a 30L sack. not really made to put down a sleeping bag. i guess you can put down a light very compact summer sleeping bag in it and still have room for cooking gear and so.
eugen jigane i bought mine from Finland (varusteleka), and what i know there are only surplus of this sack. buy a surplus becouse they are in very good condition and u can not wear it out.
jag har haft min i 2-3 år o den är fortfarande den jag oftast tar för dagsturer både ensam eller med fru o dotter. funkar super GODD JUL Mannen!!
gött å veta. God jul mannen:)
Going by the amount of videos on youtube, this german jäger/gebirgs-rucksack is one of the worlds most popular backpacks :-)

"... not filling it to the max .." 👍 They just don't carry well when overstuffed.

The jacket is an product from the company Varusteleka. Is a very good copy of the british army smock.

Merry christmas David.
Oj jävlar! Fick mig att skratta till, känner igen den situationen. Tur att du inte ramlade in i elden. Verkar vara en bra rygga.
balanssinnet är ju som på en gammal slaktfärdig ko typ
Reminds me of the Sposn RD 54.
Great vid Magnus.
Snake
Nice review .. great pack , I need one of these for my collection.
Nice video and good-looking bag. For those in the US, I have an L. L. Bean Continental Rucksack that has many of the same features.

Bra video.
I have lost weight lately.
More porridge!
