  • New pack day, a long awaited arrival of my new reproduction German army Alpine pack, I have been after a nice simple old school day pack for a while now, and this fits the bill nicely, well made and rugged, up to the task for daily bushcraft jaunts, heres my first thoughts on it for you.

      Is this pack the MFH or the Brandit reproduction pack? Its obviously not the German Army Issue pack.

      @@n9oqu It's a reproduction, has done me sterling service this last year

      @@70agrr I just ordered one and its dimensions are slightly larger than the gov’t issue packs. As of this date I have not received it yet I know the Army issued ones are stoutly made. I was hoping the Repros are solidly made too.

    Best bag, used it for school before and now hiking and hunting and SHTF. When I was in school I'd carry all books in the bag because I hated putting it as per the classes. Unlike all other bags, this didn't tear at all. I own the original however the repro shouldn't be that bad

    Two things I very much appreciate with the pack is that there are no zippers and also has nice side closed storage...think it will work out well...thanks for the review...

    Hi Andy. I'm glad you have found a pack you like and it looks well made too - often repro = crap. Health to use it. ATB. Nigel

    I own one and I recommend cutting up a old foam sleeping mat and placing it inside the bad to keep it slightly ridged👍

    Instead of letting the strap ends "hang Loose" you can adjust the length so you can roll it up inside the Buckle for a snag free solution.

      His pack looks just like mine/ Its a Brandit. Its a German Company but the pack is made in China. It doesn't mean its a bad Bag its just inferior to the German army issue or other repro Alpine bag. I applied a Ceramic Hydrophobic Protection spray tp the entire pack. Now water ROLLS off the canvas material.

    Great overview Andy, they really are a superb rucksack. I've had one for around six years and it's a fantastic bit of kit. Especially for the money, people would struggle getting something better quality for what they cost. One thing I like is one the inside there is a compartment that's perfect for sliding one of those Wilko foam kneel mats into. Our vid from the weekend my wife borrows mine. Thanks for sharing Atb, Garry 👍👍👍

    The best addition to this pack is the bundeswehr folding sleeping mat, which is designed to be the frame sheet as well. I know that there is a copy of the mat as well, I own originals and although they don't make a great sleeping mat they are a great chunk of kit! I own the large flecktarn bundeswehr pack and with the frame sheet it handles 40lbs just fine, which IMHO is the maximum load anyone should pack on their back to keep proper mobility over longer distances.

    I have the original isssue dated 2003 and was planning to use it as my hand carry bag for my overseas trips but as we know covid 19 had other plans so it remains in storage till the day. If you have a thing for mil-surp, the Swiss Army Issue M84 canteen and cup fits perfectly on the side pouches.

    • @70agrr
      @70agrr  Před 3 lety +1

      As I said above, I would just prefer it to be an original, as I feel its is a bit tougher.

    I have one I've had it for about 4 years and I use it everyday. I have no problems with it you can fit bivying stuff in it for the night you can carry enough for a walk and carry enough to go out foraging for food firewood and starters. Only problem I have is that you can't fit a canteen in the side pockets but after much use I can fit a canteen and mug with lid the other problem is that you cant organise everything inside but if you had lots of pouches I guess you could. I also love the fat the pockets are only attached on the side meaning you can fit a axe down the back.

    • @70agrr
      @70agrr  Před 3 lety

      Side pouches fit both my steel water bottles and mug, which is a result, and yeah I really like the ability to stick an axe down behind the side pouch.

    I had added a comment about your video. I have purchase the German army mountain rucksack made by MFH, and I noticed that like your pack, mine too has the two-pronged male buckle. I have never used that kind of buckle, so I’m not at all sure how well that type would hold up. And I just got to wondering how well the buckles on yours have been holding up?

    Hello, I watched your video a few times trying to place that pack. I think that it’s ether the MFH German mountain rucksack, or the MIL-TEC mountain rucksack. Is it the MFH by any chance? I’ve been looking into getting one, and your video might have helped me in making that decision. One last question, if you still have your pack, how well is it holding up? Thank You for making your video on the pack.

      I have an original that I purchased 15 yrs ago for $20, and just ordered an MFH (Max Fuchs Co. Germany) from Military 1st in Manchester GB, in Flecktarn camo and it should be here any day now. I've purchased about a half dozen packs and THIS is the most comfortable and versatile.
