    Very cool. I was wondering if the little clamps could damage the surface of the string?

    • @thronepotato
      @thronepotato Před 5 lety

      I use grip clamps on a Klipper stringer. The clamps are adjustable for tension and yes, if set too tight then they can crimp, flatten and even cut into the strings. I learned early on that the clamps can hold over 65 pounds of string tension when set on even a very loose adjustment level where the strings, even natural gut, are not harmed at all.

      Great question Cameron! Our newest flying Claw Clamps are diamond dusted to avoid any slippage of the string. As a result you don't have to clamp down as hard on the string and therefore cause no damage to it :)

      @@thronepotato Absolutely right! Once you've adjusted the clamps correctly you can hold tension securely without worrying about damaging the string

    Is each clamp, clamped onto two strings? If they're not fixed how are the strings holding tension?

    • @myprostringer
      @myprostringer  Před 3 lety

      Hi Dan, the clamps hold onto 2 strings. Our new claw clamps have diamond dusted teeth that hold the string with minimal force and also adjustable to how tightly they hold the string. They hold the tensioned string without tension loss

    I prefer fixed clamps. That seems more accurate to me.

      I bet you do. But this is a portable machine so you can't get every benefit of a full stringing machine. Got it?

      Chris71319: I work with flying clamps, and they are very accurate. It´s recommended you clean often the contact surface with alcohol and a wipe. You should adjust them according to the string diameter.

    • @myprostringer
      @myprostringer  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey Chris! That is often the assumption between fixed and flying clamps but as mentioned by those above, the end result is the same with both. Our newest Claw Clamps have an angled design which allows you to clamp down at the perfect width each time and therefore keep the strings straight. In addition, they are diamond dusted which leads to no slippage and therefore accurate tension each time :)
