    The Kawai model GX-2 was designed by the Shigeru Rearch and Development Laboratory and has the same scale design as the Shigeru Kawai SK-2. This piano is in brand new condition inside and out and still has several years of factory warranty left on it.
    There are many things that make this piano special. It features Kawai’s Millenium III action which utilizes ABS-Carbon Technology with carbon fiber for unparalleled consistency from note to note, as well as exceptional longevity in less than ideal environments.
    There are many design elements that contribute to the performance and sound of this piano. The choice of a unique combination of hardwoods in the rim results in a warm, clear sound. The high quality, tapered spruce soundboard is masterfully crafted for rich tonal colors. The piano features many design elements that help the piano endure the ages better than other pianos. For example, the bridges are vertically laminated which helps prevent cracks over time.
    The action feels like a concert grand due to having longer keys for more control when playing close to the fallboard since the keys travel further there as they do on 9-foot concert grand pianos.
    Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy in manufacturing which roughly translates to, “continuous improvement.” While Kawai has been making fine pianos for decades, this instrument has so many design elements that could only have come from spending a century refining the design and manufacturing by one of the world’s leading piano companies.

    That was a great demonstration of a Kawai GX2. Robert did a beautiful performance of the Mozart excerpt and part of the Liszt B minor Sonata. This piano has an amazing, singing treble which Robert's playing highlighted and his lively commentary added his interest and knowledge to this delightful presentation.

    - it's so refreshing to hear a "real" piano with all its character - those minor little freckles - as opposed to a digital instrument which is so freckle-free that it's character can be rather dull by comparison ...

    Kawai grands that have been "worn in", well regulated & voiced are a true pleasure to play and hear. This one sounds better than I expected it to, and if your price is in the mid to upper $30's, this is an excellent value. And of course as always - superb playing to show off this great Kawai, Robert.

      @@LivingPianosVideos You're welcome. It is always a delight to hear you play. You make even the simplest piano pieces fresh and new. I have lost track of the number of people who have worked on my piano, or sold or bought one, who could scarcely play a note, and it is wonderful to connect with someone who can actually play! I figure if you make your living with pianos, you ought at least to learn how to play. Right? :)

    My mom has a piano of this model at a school called The Westside Music Conservatory. It’s in her office. It may not fit in an apartment, but it could be good for a regular house. The Kawai GL-20 is a good choice as well.

    It's a GX. GX's are seriously excellent conservatory grade pianos. 5'11" is pretty large for the second smallest piano in the range. Voicing is nice though I may make it a bit more sparkly in the treble. Shigeru Kawais are competition grade performance pianos as good as any other IMO. At the Chopin competition and others, the concert grand SK-EX is on stage with Hamburg Steinway D, Fazioli F278 and Yamaha CFX, the standard and the others are highly acclaimed in their own right. As is the Shigeru.

    Robert, you are a wonderful ambassador for this piano. Congratulations on your performance of an excerpt from the Liszt B minor sonata! I am impressed by the clarity and power of each register of the instrument from the commanding bass, the singing tenor and the beautiful bell-like sustaining
    treble. As a small grand piano it outclasses much longer grand pianos.

      @benjaminsmith2287 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@gustavogo2915 You'll have to play them and see which one you enjoy most. Two pianos of the same model can sound quite different so it isn't as easy as saying GX is better than GL. Plus the GL is significantly bigger and that results usually in a fuller bass. You just may be happier with the GL.

    • @gustavogo2915
      @gustavogo2915 Před 4 měsíci

      @@benjaminsmith2287 I loved the bass and warmer tone of that particular GL40. The GX1, on the other hand, was a very bright sounding piano but the action was heavenly (plus I loved the NEOTEX keys). I talked with the owner of the dealer and he said they will voice down the GX1 to have a more level match when I go back this Saturday to make the decision on which one to purchase. I liked the mellower tone and bigger bass on the GL40. I liked the feel and looks more on the GX1. I know they both use the same Millennium lll action but the GX1 has some upgrades that really did make the action feel near magical.

      Had similar issue with my GX-1 also noticed this with a GX-2 in the store). I got a smart thermometer/humidity-meter. Turns out that tuning stability is massively affected by the humidity dropping at night (even with lid closed). I remedied this by buying a cheap smart humidifier and setting it to prevent the drop. Also, the screaming cat girls in the higher registers can be tuned out, but they come right back if the environment is not super stable. Hope this helps.
