- Should you use a mountain bike fanny pack? Osprey Savu 5
I finally broke down and gave the fanny pack, hip pack, lumbar pack, whatever term you would like to use mountain bike hydration pack a try. My bag of choice is none other than the Osprey Savu 5 and I have finally seen the error of my ways. I won't be using this bag for racing anytime soon but the long weekend trips to Wilson's Creek will be much more efficient with this guy.

Great review, thanks. I've got one coming in the mail and looking forward to it. I enjoy your delivery and humor, keep it up!
Great honest factual review.
I have recently switched to a cheep hip pack from Amazon to see if I liked it.
Yep sometimes forget it’s there. Time for a new fancy pack.
Sold on the osprey.
Very cool. I quit riding with my bicycle jerseys since I like using hi-viz shirts now. And a phanny pack carries all my stuff. And since I've really enjoyed the method, I've decided to get a better one and found your review. Ordered one and it's on the way. Thank you for the very helpful review.
Bought one after your review. It's a world of difference in terms of comfort in comparison to the camelback, I almost forgot that I'm wearing it. Thanks!
I actually gave my camelback away because I stopped using it completely 😅
Thanks for the video. My bike only has 1 bottle holder. I cannot stand the on the back hydration packs either. They suck. This Savu 5 looks to be the ticket cause I don;t want a bladder to deal with filling and putting in the pack. Carrying 3 bottles on longer riders sounds perfect.
I just ordered the savu 5. I have an osprey hydration backpack and it gets way too hot and bumps around when the trail gets rough. It doesnt even have mich space for tools and gu packs etc. Looking forward to recieving the phanny pack 🤘
Osprey makes nice packs, I have the code 32. However I bought the EVOC hip pro 3L and like it very much. I also have the Mountainsmith Tour lumbar pack, with the back straps. It’s 9L and overkill for my typical mtb rides. I don’t like the water bottle in the dedicated holders, and I like stopping for a water break so the hydration set up is not for me. I use a soft bottle inside the EVOC, and the water bottle on my bottle cage generally is all I need for a 2 hour ride.
Great job
Love it!
Good review. Thank you. Have to admit I always giggle when I hear people from the US saying fanny pack. Fanny in the UK means female genitalia 🤣😉. We call them bum bags or hip packs 👍. All the best
Hey, can you do a review on the anthem 29. And, would I be fine racing XC on a trance 29? Thanks!
I have only been able to get my hands on the anthem advance 29 that I did a video on a few months ago but if I can see the aluminum one I will certainly review it! The trance is more travel than a typical race xc bike but I know plenttyy of people that have crushed it in the local races on one.
@@MossieRidesBikes Thanks! love the vids!
No problem, I appreciate the support!
Watching sir
Can you wear this on the front? Like for day treks?
5:15 "It's volume is 305 cubic inches" .... holy sh't what? xD Just say 5 liters, I had to google that, because I thought you measured some really strange unit for capacity. Nice video tho, thanks for all the infos.
Hi, Can you wear it as a crossbody style????
Does anybody here know if this bag works well for running?
Hi, what would be the difference between savu 4 and savu 5? Thanks
You can look at the Osprey website and compare them.
I know that trail.... #WilsonCreekSucks
Stop trying to be funny. Not only is it a big challenge (when you're not funny) but basically people just want you to get to the point. We don't come to your channel for entertainment. We come for quick answers about what to buy / use. So quit the waffling. And quit the "with all my years ..." because, quite frankly, you look 24-27 so "all my years" doesn't carry any credibility or weight for me. And for all your years ... how come you don't realise that Camelbak don't just make rucksack / backpacks and actually have hip-packs too? By the way ... you're the first (and only) person I've heard call them "lumbar" packs. Before you argue with me, realise that my feedback might help you grow from 5.21k subscribers.
@Fire and Rice 🤣Says the guy who decided to reply to a comment from over a year ago ... 🤦♂ (So no, I won't be replying any further - just wanted to point out the hypocrisy of your own comment. As you were.)
@@justanothernoobe If you want to get to the point. Just read the product specs on the webpage dummy
@@samt.1369 Gotta love it when someone comes to troll on a year-old post...
The point is not about specs - as you correctly point out, any dummy can get that from the website. The point is about getting an opinion from first-hand experience of using the product.
@@justanothernoobe Welcome to the internet. Buy it and get your own first-hand experience loser
I think the "loser" is the guy getting all butt-hurt over a year-old post on someone else's video. I don't have the patience for immature toddler mentality so good luck, sunshine. Oh look, isn't that "mute" function handy ...
