- Visfestivalen i Västervik juli 2013 bjöd oss i publiken på en stor överraskning sista festivalkvällen när Björn Ulvaeus och Tonny Roth äntrade scenen. Deras framträdande var en hyllning till Hansi Schwarz som bl a spelade i Västerviks bandet Hootenanny Singers tillsammans med Björn Ulvaeus, Tonny Roth och Johan Karlberg. Bandet som bl a blev Björns genombrott på 60-talet...

Thank you for this. It's WONDERFUL to see Björn performing again. And he's not that "rusty!". Looks like he rather enjoyed himself. I don't remember the last time I saw him with a guitar in his hand.

He basically tells the audience that he and Tonny (the surviving members of HS) haven't performed in front of a paying audience since 1969, that Hootenanny Singers is a "bloody silly name" that was Stikkans idea, and how it has been mispronounced by comperes throughout the years ("Hotonny!").

Yes, but with them starting their career with songs like "Tom Dooley" and others like that and with instruments like an acoustic bass, acoustic guitars and banjo, the "Bloody Silly Name" name Hootenanny Singers wasn't too off the mark after all since the word is an old Scottish/Appalachian word that amongst other things, means a "folk music party with an open mic".

sorry for late response , björn is talking aboute and telling the audience how the name of the band came to , and also how it has been said the wrong way through the years , björns band on stage is saluting the general that started this Hansi swarzh , thats in short what he said . the name of the band is Västerviks bandet Hootenanny , but has like a joke been said as ("Hotonny!").
