Can 1000% approve. I started playing 30 games of 1s a day and reached my peak. W goat Booma🐐🐐🐐🐐
That’s all you man keep grinding
As a guy who just dropped 100 mmr this video worked great on me, and put the whole situation into a healthy perspective. Good work!
As someone who tilt queues a lot this helps to hear. Especially the part about some of the best people losing and gaining 100s of mmr without worry. I tilt queued and lost about 200 mmr over the past few times I've played so hopefully I can take all of this into mind and rebuild but more importantly improve. Great video!!
Glad to be of help thanks!
Thanks for the tips booma keep up the grind
Goated coaching as always! 🔥
Awesome video! Definitely one of the most important aspects of not only RL, but anything you wanna get good at. Glad to see it be talked about as it does not get nearly the attention it needs.
Yes nothing in life is easy so it’s good to take this mindset into so many other things as well. I felt it was engraved into my head as an athlete so I don’t expect to get much out of things if I don’t put in the work
Booma your channel is inspirational, I love the grind
Thank you I appreciate that a lot. Very kind words
Wow, here I am so scared about going down in my rank that I'm playing hardly any ranked games a season. I have a bit of things to explain, so I will do that.
Last season I only got plat... but IN GENERAL, throughout my whole time I've played rocket league (for 4-5 years) I've played maybe 50 ranked games... all because I don't want to see myself get a gold rank... (which is outrageous by the way, I acknowledge that) So I get plat last season, I lose two games and I quit ranked, so I go back to what I did for the past 4-5 years, free play... I can do a decent amount of the flashing mechanics, triple resets, double reset musty's, and right now I'm trying to learn how to maktuf reset, which it is all coming along, but since, like you said, I grinded all those mechanics in freeplay, no wonder I can't hit a clip in game... even casual.
Due to the lack of games, I did not gain that experience of doing those mechanics on defenders. If I were to record my free play, to someone who had no clue who I was, they would probably suspect GC. If I were to record any game, they'd think I'm a bot because all my mechanics leave me... So when you talked about the amount of games to put in a season, that really clicked for me. I'm doing a ton of workshop maps, and some training packs to get better, when I'm not even using what I learn because I'm scared of my rank...
Sorry for the super long comment, but I wanted to share. Me looking back at my rocket league experience, I am a fool for letting a video game control me... So thank you for talking about that, it helped a lot! Next session, I'm gonna do at least my placements. Just like you said, the numbers really don't matter. And if I were to lose it, I'll just learn more anyway. Thank you! Have a blessed day!!
Thanks for sharing. 🤘🤘
I'm gold/plat and I don't mind the ranking too much anymore. But every time I'm back in plat, I'm planning to stay there for as long as possible and try to climb up.
I normally warm up then do a few casuals and after that it's ranked. For me the best way at the moment. And I mainly watch the replays at the same day so I still remember the games I played.
Don’t apologize for sharing your experience, it’s difficult & different for everyone! Trust me I’ve been there too but as I said those numbers or ranks don’t define you as a player. In all reality yeah you could have GC mechanics but you’re at that rank because your lack of experience against opponents and game sense comes also with grinding the game. Don’t worry about it now you’ve achieved a different stage of learning so go apply it now and I guarantee you’ll rank up. Glad I could be an eye opener for you. Best of luck!
this is really helpful man im struggling to hit gc2 and my mental sucks. ty for the advice
Of course, best of luck!
I had a couple play sessions in a row where I really was blaming every goal on myself (in the healthy way you described) and I was playing with confidence and having fun. Ended up peaking for the season.
I find it difficult to maintain that sort of focus, the alure of blaming tm8s is a habit that takes time to break.
We are ALL guilty of it so no need to feel ashamed. But now you know what it takes!
LOVE THIS! ps. Booma the worst!
Subbed. 🤘🤘🤘
What was that training pack?
Which one? 😅 I did go through quite a few of them I’m sure you can pause the video at the point before I load into them to grab the codes
@@BoomaRL The one at 2:43 , I think it started at the beginning of the video and there was no code shown.
That corner pinch was nice.
It's ok if you can't remember...
@@MadNoisy It’s Squishy’s training pack if you just search on CZcams “Squishy training pack” there is a video that shows you how to do them 759E-EE56-74FE-E279
Learnt alot
I’m glad!
Yet another thing I and many others learned from squishy way back in the day and another reason he’s the goat ☝️😂 lol but really so true. I always say the person who starts trash talking first in a game is almost always the one in the wrong because they fail to understand how the mistakes they’re making are making their teammates lives more difficult
love that mindset man
Any tips on how to win in unpredictable lobbies? I was gc 3 but fell into gc 2 mayhem where its kinda impossible to predict the next play to be proactive. I did find a player who was flaming the people in the lobbies saying that they're all just ball chasers and they will get hardstuck here if they don't change. And a few days later he go SSL. Sooo any tips on how to beat ballchasers?
I'm pretty serious on improving. (sorry for yapping too much I tend to do that whenever I'm asking for tips xD)
You’re not yapping. Some lobbies are down right just not winnable but that doesn’t mean you just give up. Ball chasers are some of the easiest to out play if you limit boost and don’t play into them or match their pace. You have to respect possessions so exhaust their touches and boost resource then play effective counter attack defense any SSL or GC3 should be able to out play a GC2 so with that being said you’ll need solid defense then quick transition to punish the over aggression. Best of luck
Very good information Booma. Well stated!
Thank you! I felt like this topic wasn’t talked about enough so felt it needed to be said
@@BoomaRL Yes it deff did. I even tried myself to not think about my teammates yesterday while playing
@@DDayter glad you’re putting it into use!
@@BoomaRL yes sir!!! Trying haha altho i still find myself slipping a little haha I would love to get as good as you some day haha im decent but not that good!
@@DDayter Don't self deprecate brother that's the mindset to avoid! Any rank is achievement
18:45 workshot maps, bakkesmod, better Ping even more if you play on Switch but yeah I get your point
I meant in terms of competitive. Ping is not a platform related issue. Ping is your internet. But yeah I meant as in console players are still very capable of competing there are quite a few console teams competing in RLCS qualifiers
@@BoomaRL Well if your not playing with a LAN cable on console Ping is a disadventage on console
@@Speedmania-lv7pi the same can be applied to those who use Wi-Fi on PC
@@BoomaRL Ok good point
@@Speedmania-lv7pi I just want everyone to understand I’ve been there on a console, on Wi-Fi connection & I was still able to achieve top 100 & beat professional players
i am 1 of those players but only play solo duos. i player for hours and hours. 8 years. 5 years of grinding my mechanics. was champ 3 now im stuck in c1. trying everything. playing 4-5 hours in a day BUT NOTHING CHANGES. HELP :'(((. I grind so harddd and get not far and in the end nothing what i do ever matters.
How often do you watch your own replays from your opponent and teammate's POVs?
@@BoomaRL Not often enough. I'm just in a tunnel vision of grinding my training i guess. I'll start watching some replays when i get back online tomorrow. thnx for the tip.
@@pivotmasters12 Trust me if you start watching from your opponents POVs and ask why yourself why you're getting scored on etc or from your tm8's POV put yourself in their shoes and see if you left them in a good position.
Playing 4-5 hours a day wont help you improve faster, you'll fall into autopilot mode very quickly, Id probably recommend max 2 hour sessions
A channel I can recommend watching to understand your replays better is aircharged gaming, specifically his defensive seminar, it will help you understand why your get scored on a lot better, helped me improve tons, good luck man
@@BoomaRL Thanks a lot for the tip, i think this will indeed help me. I see myself as a really good player with really good mechanics. I understand the game well but the difficult thing about rocket league is you don't know when ur making mistakes or could do things differently. Same thing about the settings. I know i've always been grinding more than enough. I'm exited to see how your tip will change things for me ;).
Watched this video and a day later im back at my peak omg 😭
Let’s go! Keep it up!
❤️ goat (ares here), 12:00 True
I'm silver and have about average mechs for silver. My problem is I seem to keep outplaying myself and concieding goals. Any tips there?
You’re overthinking friend, silver is literally a beginner rank in the game all you need to focus on at the moment is hitting the ball consistently and hard on target with power. That’s simply enough to escape silver rank
@@BoomaRL Thanks, I'll try to keep it in mind
i just started the video so i don't know if he tells us, but what's the code of the trainingspack?
759E-EE56-74FE-E279 it’s Squishy’s training pack
@@BoomaRL thx
booma did your settings change at all when you switched to pc
not really no been using pretty much same camera settings for years.
@@BoomaRL okay thanks did sensitivities change at all
@@vacandt no sir 1.3 steering and aerial & 0.05 controller deadzone. 0.70 dodge
that is the case tho everytime i get a bad teammate i ask them what they are doing and they tell me they dont care there only there to have fun, so they dont even want to win how am i supposed to win with losers
Be good enough to win even with someone who doesn’t want it as much as you. It a very tough thing and hey at the end of the day you can’t win every game. Even Zen loses games some times it’s part of the process. If you truly want to improve build your consistency, skill, & solidify yourself as a good player
@@BoomaRL ye i get that but it feels targeted like i get put in some different lobbies to everyone else, like it's almost every game i get a teammate who is just playing for fun and doesnt care to win. i even emailed devs about it apperently they don't have seperate lobbies for targeted accounts, i don't believe them tho
@@cblocc5988 I know some of the devs personally and I can guarantee you that’s not a thing. Again I’ve been there trust me there’s been times on stream I get the same teammate who is legitimately playing for the other team and throwing my game for fun. But at the end of the day you can always take a break so you can queue dodged that player. It’s completely mental brother if you truly are that good enough to escape a rank and rank up to the next then you will. If you can’t do that alone then you still have a lot of work to do.
@@BoomaRL na i am not buying it man u haven't seen my games, i get trolls 90 percent of my games, they just don't focus on the game at all and there supposed to be around gc2 level, makes no sense like i could make a documentary on the amount of people i could show u in gc2 that are playing like golds and its 90 percent of my games they are my teammates i am basically keeping gc2 elo with 2v1 gamemode its insane
@@cblocc5988 haven’t seen your games? You do realize I was a GC2 at a point in my career too right? I’ve also had to struggle through exactly what you have. Trust me if you think the game is gonna get better at SSL it doesn’t. This is exactly what I mean by putting ranks on a pedestal. Just because you’re GC2 doesn’t mean you or your teammates understand the game fully yet. You’re laser focusing what your teammates do and that’s what keeps you at that rank. Feel free to take my advice or not but I’m just sharing what got me to this level. Best of luck
19:00 what about switch 😭
Srs question btw.
@@SonKoreo Players have still reached SSL on nintendo switch obviously probably not with the joycon controller but it's way more do-able than you think. Just because you are lowered frames same concept applies and unfortunately you might have to wait until you can switch to PC. I was too young to afford one when I was grinding but I eventually was able to get one! Still focus on your grind bro!
@@BoomaRL I was able to get gc1 on it surely I can go further
@@SonKoreo exactly don’t limit yourself because of your platform there was a recent player who emerged SSL on Nintendo switch who caught the eye of a lot of pros and they eventually switched to PC and they’re a demon now so just stay confident homie!
4k hours im still watching tutorials or informational videos c:c
Absolutely nothing wrong with that I’m 10k hours in & still watch AppJack videos on how to have an effective offense in 1s
