We were trying to get back to Cozumel one night about 10 pm. The ferry does not usually run that late, but a storm front had slowed things down. Our fellow passengers, about 150, were herded into a tight ball of frightened sheep and were told to “go for it” to the boat about 6-8 at a time. When we ran through driving rain to the edge of the pier in driving rain, the boat was heaving up and down about 10 feet. They had a gang plank that broke free twice that I saw. I honestly don’t know how we got on board. The passengers were put into the big room where it was obvious that nausea was going to be common. We had 4 teenage boys behind us making noises like they were throwing up. Within 2 minutes they were along with many others. The stench was incredible. It took 20 minutes trying to get everyone on board. The passage, normally around 15-20 minutes took almost an hour. Children crying, everyone terrified. By the time we got to the pier on Cozumel the storm winds had subsided. But the vomiting continued. Disembarking was normal. I was never so glad to be on solid ground. The sight of that group covered in vomit will never be forgotten. Our trip might have ended with death. The captain had no reason to make the trip until the storm passed. Might have waited 30 minutes. Those people are lucky to be alive.
good call on abandoning the docking procedures, probably best to hold position near the cruise ship and let it block the wind while the storm front passes.

Great job by the Capt, managed to get his ship broaching, not good at the best of times, but hey, let's do it when there is a concrete pier right off the starboard bow. I've taken that ferry many times, never felt anything but 100% safe, but that (to be fair we don't see the video before the broach) was not good seamanship on any level.

Yo estaba alli en el hotel allegro playacar ..pasó el domingo 27 de enero fué bastante feo ver volar mesas con sombrillas y girar sobre las plantas..las reposeras se desplazaban x el piso...y al otro día encontramos dentro del agua la lona de una sombrilla q no era del hotel q yo estaba...fué feísimo..fueron minutos...

Jajajaja yo estuve en ese barco. A mí me afectó más el movimiento porque si me mareo muy rápido. Unas personas si estaban súper asustadas pensando lo peor, incluso la señora que estaba detrás de mí le dió un ataque de pánico y creo que se desmayó.
