Auflage durfte er den Pokal im Original behalten und er gewann im Jahr zuvor als letzter Akteur mit weißen Bällen und 1986 das erste Mal mit gelben Filzkugeln.
Der Pokal verschwand wohl leider irgendwo in der Konkursmasse. Schade, Bum Bum Boris war echt ein super Tennisspieler. Phantastische Matches, Davis Cup gg McEnroe bleibt unvergessen.

@@M.EngelhART Ja, das stimmt. Für mich war eher die epische Länge des Matches, die körperlich und mental beiden alles abforderte, verblüffend. Geschenkt wurde sich nichts und das Spiel war mit ein Grund, dass im DC sodann der Tie-Break eingeführt wurde. Rechnet man die gewonnen Spiele grob um, war das Match ein 6-Sätze Match gemessen an der Tie-Break-Grenze. Sehr starke Leistung von beiden und vor allem auch klasse Tennis. Ich weiß, wo ich mitten in der Nacht das Spiel am TV verfolgt hatte. 😄

I think in some ways, Boris's win in 86 was even more amazing than 85. Because he retained it and only dropped 2 sets all tournament, whereas he dropped 8 in 85, and comfortably beat the then world no 1 in the final in straight sets. Forget 85, Boris is still the youngest ever Wimbledon champion from his win in 86!

Früher war nicht alles besser. Aber eins ist sicher: das Tennis 'war' besser. Ich habe damals Stunden vor dem Fernseher verbracht und Boris zugeschaut, auch bei diesem Finale. Das Serve&Volley Spiel ist heute praktisch ausgestorben, zumindest im Spitzentennis. Darum bin ich sehr dankbar für solche Beiträge auf CZcams. Es macht einfach Spaß noch einmal zu sehen, wie man auf Rasen 'richtig' Tennis spielt.

They both used a very small racket that allowed for a very precise control of the ball. This on account, however, of having to hit the ball always with the centre of the area of the racket which did not allow for making any mistakes like the huge rackets in today's tennis.
The courts became too fast?? You have no idea what you are talking about. The grass courts in Wimbledon were massively slowed down since this era. They are much slower now, which is why baseliners do better now in Wimbledon.

Beckers best Wimbledon, losing only two sets the entire tournament. If he had had Lendls commitment to the sport he would have won a lot more, he became a bit "feral" after proving to the world the first wimbledon wasnt a fluke. #Boom-boom Boris
When I bought that Puma racket in the 80s (before Becker's Wimbledon win), the guy in the store assured me Becker was using that exact retail version - with top-quality gut strings, of course. I've never heard anything to the contrary. And there wasn't all that much you could do to fancy it up. The frame was mostly fiberglass. Also, when Becker first adopted that racket, he wasn't famous yet. Just a tall, talented 16-year-old tennis boy. No one foresaw he would win Wimbledon a couple months down the road.
I actually owned both the Puma Winner (Silver) and the Puma Super (Blue) Becker did use the Super which had the screw that allowed you to adjust the length of the racket. The lengthening of the racket was supposed to allow for more powerful shots. I don’t recall Becker ever adjusting the racket during a match. It was gimmicky if you ask me and really didn’t do much.
On the court, yes. But off the court, he is extremely funny and engaging. Look up an interview he did with McEnroe, Becker, and Wilander. You'll see a whole new side of him.

Und wenn Novak einen als coach holt und sagt dass es dessen Spiel verbessert hat ist das auch was. 1995 Wimbledon Halbfinale gegen einen wie entfesselt spielenden Agassi war ganz großes Kino.

The game in this video includes technical excellence , physical conditioning , variety of strokes , feel for the game ...etc. It's a very rich game, you had to he very very good back then . people who just comment on how today they would not win a round are clear "tennis illiterates" who obviously have not played tennis in their life.
They were using smaller racket heads back then which had a smaller sweet spot. You had to be a good ball striker in those days. Additionally, racquet string technology wasn't as advanced as today. (furthermore, I think they edited out all faults in the video so we can't tell whether they are hitting first or second serves. I don't find their serves slow to be honest)
Boris hat gezeigt, dass Tennisspieler nicht über viel Gehirn verfügen müssen. Sowohl finanziell, wie auch intellektuell hat er bewiesen, wie es schlechter wohl kaum geht. Als Tennisspieler habe ich ihn verehrt, über den Rest möchte ich mich hier nicht äußern.

Advantageous surface or not, much respect to Becker for handily beating the world No. 1 - in one of Lendl’s best seasons - at age 18.

Is Becker using retail version puma racket? Some say his racket Power control system is not functional or PCS is fake, screw does not work. Any ideas?
The pros very, very rarely used retail versions of racquets. Their racquets tended to be substantially heavier

Why are they serving so slow . Their shots seem lacking powers

Becker was serving over 200 km/h on a regular basis. With the rackets nowadays he would have hit much faster.
