Hello Tim and welcome to Voice of Baceprot (VOB)! They have not followed a conventional music industry path and are determined to make their own way, on their own terms. Their message/lyrics are as big a part of who they are as their music is. I see them not only as a band to rock out to, but that also strongly promotes what I value most, equality/safety/opportunity for ALL people! I was fortunate enough to see them in a small club, and it made it so much more personal than a big festival!

I believe it is pronounced like “batch a prot” , though most people just refer to them as VOB. They are from a small town in Indonesia, and were persecuted by the locals when they started playing rock music, because it was felt that it wasn’t in keeping with their Muslim tradition. I believe this was their first original song, and somewhat like The Warning and their song Narcissista, it was to send a message to their critics.
They are fans of RATM, and their live performance cover of Killing in the Name at Rennes France is definitely worth watching. 👍😎

This is one of my "Bucket List Bands", along with The Maids (seen 'em twice but they're never coming off), The Warning, Glim Spanky, Asterism, and Sokoninaru (the last three you should definitely check out.) As for V.O.B., you can pretty much check anything out as it's all great. Personal favorites are: "PMS" - mv, "Sundanese Instrumental" and "Age Oriented" - both live from Rennes, France (probably the same show as the covers you are going to do). VOB is awesome and once you learn their story, they move beyond being a great band to "An Inspiration". Here's a couple of suggestion for the other bands I mentioned: Glim Spanky: "Give Me Your Anger". Asterism: "Rising Moon". Sokoninaru: "Tenohira de Odoru". Hold onto your hat! Thanks much, Tim! 🕊
