imma guess it was removed cuse of speculation and lore they where not ready or ever going to expand on. If considering the patch and change in how the lore progress vs the launch that makes sense. at launch you where a recject, and was (and still is) one until lvl 30, where you finaly became an acolyte. the most basic henchmen to Grendel,. Yet you still got access to armour and gear to that of a normal soldier even before becoming an acolyte (i am refering to armour spesificly here) and this has now been corrected to actual handmedowns and scavanged gear from the field, this makes much more sense given the "reject" tittel. i love the game, but some aspects screamed they where being rushed in certain aspects. thankfully it is looking like they are making strides in making it seem like a way more consistent story and world.
Sad thing is that veterans of the game is gonna have all jank and its gonna feel like a fractured experiance for them (if they care about the story at all) while newer players are gonna have a much better experiance.

My theory is that the "Darktide" is not the forces of the Dregs and Scabs (The Cult of Admonition and the Moebian 6th), but the Tyranids. There is mention in the lore that the "Darktide" is being fought in the Fringe Wars at the edge of the Moebian Domain, and that those forces consist of Xenos and Chaos forces, but the information is highly classified and anything that gets out is all rumors. The Moebians 6th also defected cause they suffered greatly during the Fringe Wars, of which they were told nothing about what they would face until they were on the frontlines, so perhaps it was the horrors of fighting against Tyranids that turned them to Nurgle worship, and subsequently making contact with the Cult. I hope Tyranids come later, get a whole invasion on our hands.

Auric operatives can only mean one thing in the Imperium. That the custodes are here. And not even inquisitors have the power to mobilize the Adeptus Custodes. In fact, Custodes are only deployed recently, and sice Darktide is happening during the Indomitus crusade, that is at least posible. However it will screw the lore and the entire idea of Darktide. It will have no sense to have a Custodes envolved.
That's why those lines were removed, probably. The most sensical thing we can have as "a reinforcement" are the Sisters of battle, as this world's church is dedicated to the work of a Saint (Saint Messelina). And that will basically kill the entire lore of Darktide. So no, if Fatshark wants to be with this Dark Heresy TTRPG campaign setting, we're alone, and the warband are the best assets the inquisitor has at hand.

Where on earth does the game _ever_ mention them? Never. It never says a damn thing. Unless you're saying that the players are the ones they talk about, the game gives you 9 cutscenes, 7 of which are less than thirty seconds. At least with Fromsoft/Souls style storytelling, there are item descriptions and NPCs that actually _say something_ to you, tell you where you are, and so forth. Darktide? They just insult you until they suddenly respect you. Before Patch #13, you _never even saw_ the traitor. Ever.
