Don't forget the part about how much longer cartilage needs to heal. Are they saying it just grazed the ear or was there supposed to be a hole? Less then two weeks later, his ear is totally healed. It's weird because I heard in a few places it was glass from the teleprompter getting hit that ricocheted onto his ear. That would make sense... maybe? And he wouldn't want people to know because he wants the sympathy and to play victim.

I am a doctor. Now that we have seen the ear after a few weeks, I can state categorically that the size of that dressing was purely political. The pad was likely put on his ear by the campaign, not a real medic.

Plus the note from the fraudster doctor said the hole was what, 2mm? That's bigger than a penny if I'm not completely mistaken! Based on the close up photo of his ear right after it happened before he was taken to the hospital, you can see there's no major hole that size. I'm no expert so I couldn't say whether it was a small hole like these pig ears got (That somehow completely healed over already?) or it was shrapnel. Since he won't release the medical records for it, we probably won't ever know the truth but this does put to rest many assumptions folks had on it. The only way they could get closer is to use those super nearly real body parts made for studying wound inflictions, but those cost a lot and a pigs ear is close enough!

@@stevewise1656 ARs mostly fire a .223 round, which is a little less than a quarter inch diameter. In the grand scheme of things that projectile is indeed small.
That said, its fairly high velocity and can do much more damage than, say, a .22LR even though the diameters are nearly identical.
Weight wise, an AR's .223 projectile is about 55 grains typically (some variation by brand etc). By comparison, a 9mm hand gun round is about 115 grains, or approximately twice as heavy.
It doesn't matter though. There is every likelihood that the former president was struck by a piece of flying debris and not a bullet at all. We won't know until he releases the original medical report - which he said he will not do.

I was an US Army Sniper in the Vietnam War 2/502 Infantry, 101st Airborne. Our main AO was the A Shaw Valley Area on the DMZ , it was very heavy jungle (Dark Green). I switched to an M-16 as my rifle of choice.
When I saw it happen, I told my wife it didn't hit his ear. He reacted like it was cut, I'm going with the glass. I walked point for my team, so the M-16 was the best for the job where we were..
In my 9 years US Army, I knew a Capt of the MP's and he told me he once hit a man in the shoulder of his fatigue jacket, missing his actual body and it spun like a top, onto the ground. I agree, no bullet touched the Orange/Mango Wounder Boy.

Your gun back in the day had a different twist rate. It was 1-14. Bullets were barely stabilized so they hit hard because they tumbled on impact. The guns these days have mostly 1-7 twist with a few guns still sporting the 1-9 twist of the 80s and 90s. Bullets are over stabilized and zip thru everything unless it meets a lot of resistance or the jacket fails. If you were really a sniper, you would know this. I call shenanigans.

Finally the Colorado VA had stepped in and support Veterans living here in Oz, and it seems Dioxin Poisoning hit me too, as now I have a 100% disability rating. there are over 30,000 Veterans living here.

I was wounded and in 95th EVAC (Da Nang) and there was a guy hit by friendly fire there, and also one marine had an AK-47 round hit one leg - pass through- (without hitting bone) hit the other leg and exit. I was surprised the final exit hole was just a little bigger than a 20 Cent piece (A quarter in the USA). Also I was sent to Camp Evans by my First Sgt for a 2 week course to be a sniper in country, as our sniper was about to "DEROS" and I was an Advance Infantry NCO at Fort Polk, LA and taught weapons training there, so TOP figured I could handle it.
I was walking point when he asked. I also changed the buffer and installed one without the counter weight on my rifle so it would fire faster ... an "Article 15" charge if caught, as they could jam ... TOP had me taken to Camp Eagle's Range to test me at 200 meters hitting a small paper plate... super advanced ... Mate it's one thing to google something, often reality is totally different ... been there and done that. I also have Brave Eagle Awards for personal kills and the nightmares to go with them (PTSD). Those awards were outlawed by Congress in I think 1972. Trust me, most movies are BS!

Grazing absolutely does not cause substantial damage. It is very different from the explosive aspect of actual hits to the face with a bullet. And you may not see damage to his ear, but it's there slightly obscured by his hair. He is missing a bit of the ear that folds over at the top along the edge.

i got hit in the ear with a golf club once, it hurt like crazy for about 2 days at the most. it sliced my ear where you could see the cartilage. I was maybe 12 or 13. No bandage no nothing. It healed and that was that. No bandage for weeks.

I call BS on a 2 cm hole. That over a 3/4 inch hole, and that would require more than a 2x2 bandage and some tape. He would also be bleeding all over the place and require hospitalization.
I've also been shot so I have a little bit of experience in this.
The AR15 bullet at that range is still supersonic, so if it had passed that close to his ear, the shockwave (sonic boom) would have blown out his eardrum.
There are also severe concussive effects which range from balance issues to brain damage.

I am no ballistics expert, but if the bullet had been travelling through the 'face' of the ear, then it would surely have entered the skull [behind] ...
but 'the wound' was apparently only to the ear, so the bullet would have had to hit the ear @ side on, either snicking the 'rim', or slicing through it nearly end on ....

Maybe I’m missing something here. The puncture marks from these rounds (leaving a small hole) appear to be straight through shots, not linear shots along the length of the ear. In order for that to happen the persons ear would have to be sticking out from their head at a roughly 60 -90 degree angle….or….. if the ear is not sticking out, in order to pass through the ear in that manner it would have to be on a trajectory that would end up going into the persons head.

@@mikemalloy1681 Most likely a single .223 round. The air displacement isn't all that much at that speed, which is why it makes such a loud noise until it goes subsonic. A 'grazing' projectile would slice, not rip. Ask anybody that has already been on the receiving end. FMJ, even with direct impact does more slicing than ripping - which is why they're used more often for battle than for LE or HD.
