    The 6505 really does keep up when it has a boost. As far as massive lead tones, they’re so close. The stealth just honestly has a ton more versatility. And the fact that it really doesn’t need a boost is insane. It’s more expensive but you really get a TON of amp for 2.5k.

      @@arsentoplak2635 I feel like the blue channel/rhythm responds with a mid focused tone that allows me to cut through the mix. I tend to tinker more with the 6L6 when there are two guitars. Man, the stealth may very well be one of the best amps ever made. It's half the price of the more prolific boutique amps, and it's just amazing how tight the low-end is while maintaining articulation even with the conventional scooped tone. I am by no means talking trash about the 6505, but if your metal guitarist, the stealth is amazing for everything from 70's Sabbath, 80's Dokken, 90's Pantera, and ALL modern metal (i.e., Meshuggah, In Flames, Slaughter to Prevail, et al). The ultimate test is the EVH Stealth vs Diezel Herbert MK3!!!! Lastly, I just wanna say it's awesome you make recommendations based on the availability of disposable income (e.g. 17:00 - 17:20) and I really have a lot of respect for that aspect of your demos and it demonstrates the quality of your character, modesty, and integrity as well as your ability to empathize with those lacking the means to get all the high-end expensive gear 🤘

  • @bengirard1984
    @bengirard1984 Před rokem +2

    The Stealth wins hands down. I know I will be the party pooper here (and I'm ready to receive stones haha), but except for helping lowering the stupid high prices on the old Peavey 5150/6505, I don't see the appeal of buying a brand new 6505 II when the changes don't seem to bring the amp to a whole new other level. Having the same ''okay'' clean, ''okay'' crunch, still with the big jump in volume on top of that when you switch from clean to crunch, just there it's a deal breaker for me. Having a separate power chord (wow what an invention), different voltage selection (it's cool to have but let's be real here...touring musicians uses more modelers nowaday and the 5150 line is not hard to find anyway if you need one), better transformer are definitely not enough big upgrades imho to justify the price since the sound is not worlds apart too from the originals. I would prefer personally to buy a used 6505+ and maybe get it modified by FJA(for example). We live in an era where there are soooo many different amps companies now that do outstanding products. And all this is coming from a Peavey aficionados...I owned a shit ton of amps but my main one is still the 3120 (and I have an Ultra Plus 120 too). I always come back to Peavey...always. They are still the best bang for your buck used in my opinion. I would love Peavey to come with something new or completely reinvented like I don't know...a brand new take on the VTM series? The modded Marshall stuff is super popular.

  • @bradolsen9935
    @bradolsen9935 Před rokem +4

    As someone who loves high gain, honestly I think the Stealth has too much gain. In a mix that level of gain just becomes mud. You could always turn the gain knob down though! Not a huge fan of the 5150 in general here, but the 6505 II boosted in the orange channel sounds almost identical to the Stealth in Blue/orange, especially after the tweaks. Overall, the Stealth just seems more "processed," where the 6505 is clearly more warm and punchy. But I can see why you would like the Stealth more. It's very modern sounding. Enjoy the channel, thanks for the content.

      Yeah, you can bring the gain, down a good bit. Jarrod plays with more gain the most guys haha that being said, I owned a 5150 block letter and I felt the Stealth 100 just destroyed it in every way. I sold the block letter.

      @Gnarwhal89 I got the 50 watt. I can definitely mellow that thing out enough to do blues, real classic rock, etc. I even boost for harder metal with an MXR Modified Custom Badass. It's a very versatile amp. I think some folks base an opinion on all the high gainer vids out there. There is definitely a lot tweak nuances with the Stealth IMO.🤘 Also like he said..CZcams compresses a lot. The Stealth is very articulate and you can hear every note to every chord in the room.

    To start, I want to say I think the Stealth is an awesome amp, and well worth the price tag! However, to me "versatility" means that it is capable of a wider range or variety of tones, rather than being capable of achieving a similar outcome by many different means (with OD vs. without OD), so I say the 6505 is the more versatile, since it can do classic tones better thanks to its more mid-forward voicing and mellow character. Also, as far as EQ is concerned, it's easier to dial unwanted frequencies out rather than add them in, so the 6505 is a better canvas for sculpting your tone in that regard, unless you're a purely modern metal guy for whom the Stealth offers a nearly perfect starting point. To summarize my overall idea though, I think you can make a 6505 sound just as brutal as the Stealth with the right EQ and overdrive, whereas it will be more difficult to get the Stealth to do classic tones as well as the 6505 does naturally. Ultimately, I think the 6505 is more versatile.

      Have you tried cranking the gain all the way up on the green channel of the stealth and boosting it with an overdrive?

      @@TONEWARSgearshow Thank you for the great video! To answer your question, yes, it does sound great, but it doesn't do that quite as well as the 6505, IMO. To me it sounds a bit more modern, even with the help of an EQ pedal to try and get a more classic response and EQ curve out of it. Again, I love the stealth and it is worth the higher price if you prefer a more modern sound, but I appreciate the versatility of the 6505, and that old-school voicing it possesses inherently.

    I think a better comparison might be the 6505-II and the ICONIC.
    If the Iconic can hold-up against the 6505-II, that is another $500 savings! ( Considering they are both "Made in China". )

    Man, I like the 6505 II better than the EVH. At least through CZcams. Sounds like too much resonance on the EVH or something. Both are awesome, I’d have to scratch my head here when buying one of these.
    Too much flub on the EVH. Higher frequencies on the EVH are way hallow. Too much low mid; though, it rocks more than the 6505II in those lows tones kick in.

  • @Hagstrom4ever
    @Hagstrom4ever Před rokem

    6505 is fuller, looser but I love it, EVH is (for me) harsher, more modern sounding and yes, tighter. But I prefer the 6505 the most.

    Haha, you're wayyyyy worse than me when it comes to recycling the same riffs :D The II sounds pretty good though, but you just can't beat that Stealth. In saying that... I would never pay the new price tag that thing is right now in Australia. It's ridiculously expensive with the extra taxes on top.

  • @jessemuscato

    I don’t know man that stealth is kick ass but once you’re boosting that 6505 those low gutter all mids just show up and the overdrive gives it that nice grinding sizzle on top and I think the stealth sounds great with that Easter egg, but boosted it’s just too goddamn much of everything so I think overall even though you get a lot more with the stealth the best most crucial sound is that 6505 boosted I think overall it was just the best and I have had a lot of 6505 and 5150sI’ve had all the 50 W EVH but they were always just a little too nasty and too compressed for me and I have always been kind of a 5150 hater but sometimes I gotta give them credit when they are right they are pretty unstoppable

    Im only 30 seconds in and the real winner here is the EVH Iconic. Both the 6505-2 and the EVH stealth are direct copies of amps Line 6 designed and modeled. Even though these amps use tubes, they sound really good. Nothing can ever beat a digital original. The Bit mapping is just too good.
