- The Amazon jungle. One of the world's most extensive and diverse ecosystems, spanning multiple countries in South America. It's also the Earth's most extreme and deadly environment. Yossi Ghinsburg, Kevin Gale, Marcus Stamm, and Karl Ruprechter descended into the depths of the jungle, seeking gold and adventure. For several days, they trekked onward, but dwindling food supplies caught up with them. Recognizing Marcus's inability to continue, the quartet made a tough choice to abort their journey and reassess. They held Marcus responsible, attributing their predicament to his reluctance to consume the wild game. They decided to split up, with Yossi and Kevin continuing on and Karl and Marcus heading back to civilization. This would have dire consequences for all as the expedition would turn into a disaster with all stranded and alone in the jungle, with slim survival chances.

Give me the mountains, the desert, the forest, the snowpack landscape. Even the ocean, I'll take my chances in these places. There's something about this tropical jungle environment that terrifies me. Although I consider myself quite adventurous, I have no desire to explore the jungle. I can't even begin to imagine the horrors that Yossi must have endured, especially during the night when he was left wondering about the rustling in the foilage. The constant fear of creatures crawling or slithering over you while you sleep, the lurking threat of disease, and countless other dangers that could end your life. All of this Yossi confronted head on and miraculously survived. It's truly remarkable.
It is truly remarkable what Yossi went through and miraculously overcame and survived! It would've been terrifying to experience and go through, plus that guy who was actually a fugitive. It's sad Marcus had bad feet and then vanished with that sketchy fugitive Karl guy. Have a good rest of your labor day!
EXACT same mindset here. I’ve never been intrigued or interested whatsoever about the “jungle/rainforest” environment. IT’S THE CREATURES that inhabit it. Can’t really hurt you otherwise unless you’re talking about lack of clean water, etc. Chances of malaria via the hordes of mosquitos 24/7 are another CONSTANT no-no and NO-go for me. Too many things both silent and deadly are looking to ‘do you in’…THEN eat you.
It's a cautionary tale. Don't go into the jungle as an inexperienced backpacker w/another inexperienced backpacker, just because he claims "there's gold in them thar hills!"
I'm glad Yossi & Kevin survived and thank goodness for the good people of Las Paz because it wouldn't surprise me if Carl got out alive and slipped into obscurity, as opposed to raising the alarm for the others in his party, being a fugitive from justice.
Your not alone. I feel I just don’t have the skill sets and knowledge to hike in the jungle. To be honest the jungle scares me.
Hey Outdoors, your number one fan here! I'm two minutes into your video and love your vocabulary already! Excuse me, but I'm going to enjoy now❤
It would never occur to me to embark on a trip like this unless I had spent years learning and practicing extreme outdoor survival techniques. I'd also make sure I knew how to swim. Upon acquiring all the necessary skills and knowledge, I would then opt to stay out of the jungle.
I agree wholeheartedly. The jungle scares the crap out of me. One environment I just absolutely dread.
@@outdoordisastersI would take the jungle over a desert climate such as Death Valley!
@@bexmac8136 At least there's water and more things to eat in the jungle.
That's why these people get into trouble,
They have no clue what to do in case of accident.
No emergency kit
No extra food or water.
Yeah, these guys are the epitome of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
For all it's beauty and splendor of the wilderness....your videos can be a cruel teacher.
I used to binge watch the "I Shouldn't Be Alive" series and this episode was probably the scariest one for me. I kept wondering what became of the other guy who went off with the so-called "tour guide".
I knew this story sounded familiar. I used to watch that show (I Shouldn’t Be Alive) also and this episode (and every episode) was so wild and intriguing. Thank you for refreshing my memory. P.S. “I Shouldn’t be Alive” is such a great show! 💯
Absolutely. Just giving me spin on some of my favorite stories from that show. Best show ever
There was also a movie about this story with Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) playing Yosi
I‘ve spent quite some time in Bolivia and once went on a few weeks trip to Rurrenabaque which is mentioned in the video. I did a little bit of hiking but never strayed far from the edges of the jungle and always was accompanied by a local. I‘d never go alone deep into the jungle. Its abundance of life is equaled by the abundance of death, it‘s eat and get eaten, literally. The ants alone are terrifying ^^ and there‘s a looooot more to worry about. Even the locals don‘t venture into the forest, most of them just stay in the village the whole time. I met one crazy man who lived alone in the jungle, a few hours hike from the village, was kinda older guy but tough as leather, with a grip of stone. My friend who introduced me wanted to take me to visit but then I came down with Dengue fever so we never did it. Nobody mentioned disease carrying mosquitos yet? Very memorable experience.
Wow, the jungle is just a death trap.
There is no better way to get your Sunday started than kicking off with some Outdoor Disasters! One of the very few channels whose videos I actually get excited for and wait for them to drop! Your work is so appreciated. Thanks for all you do!! 🙏🏻
Agreed!
I am totally with you there. I am so bored with every other you tube channel I am rewatching his old videos... Better then the alternative!
What a harrowing tale!! I absolutely love your videos. How much work and details you put into them. I'm so amazed they didn't all die in the Amazon jungle. I would never set foot in there. What a will to survive. Wow.
I think that's the just of his whole channel.... How much can humans take and still survive... How far can sheer will alone get you... I love this channel.
The random guy who invited a bunch of strangers in a get rich quick gold scheme wasn’t telling the truth?! Shocking.
Their hubris and ignorance is staggering.
Forcing yourself to get bitten by fire ants as a distraction from pain, that’s nuts
Yay!!! Another outstanding and beautifully done video!!! Your channel's the best!! Thank you once again!! 🎈🌟
Thank you for another awesome video! I can't even imagine being lost let alone stranded and alone in the vast expanse of the Amazon Jungle! These men went through so much and had to overcome even more given their situation. I think they made a movie about what these guys went through called The Jungle if I remember correctly. Needless to say the whole ordeal would be scary. I hope Yossi and Kevin are doing better today and I also hope the family of Marcus will find closure some day. I look forward to your next video!
Sometimes these disasters are a result of just terribly bad luck - that was not the case here. Total morons, blinded by greed and ignoring the warnings of locals.
That said, the rainforest is probably the last place I’d want to get lost. At least in the desert people can see you from above.
Not much greed - to be honest they were looking for adventure, and given the time there's not really a way to tell the difference between "well this is a fun river" and "when I go here I'm truly stranded in the wilderness"
Yeah but the desert will kill you in days the forest could keep you alive indefinitely... If you were capable... Or at least a fast learner.
This adventure was a bad idea from the get go! For Outdoor Disasters ( CZcamss best channel ) doing this story was a good idea! Simply put the adventure was poorly planned and ill conceived so it was no surprise the horrors they encountered during their journey and were very lucky to walk away with their lives except for the two who broke off and went it alone! They disappeared without a trace and I can only imagine what horror they encountered that ultimately took their lives! Another excellent story from this channel along with life lessons and tips as well as explanations for what this forest does for the planet! Thanks so much for sharing
I agree with everything you said. Awesome video, awesome channel, awesome story of survival!
Thanks a lot for wonderful description of this jungle now people will come only to get lost and probably die out there 😊😎
Amaizing video. The narrative is the best. Greetings from Tijuana, México.
Thank you very much!
Tijuana... That sounds interesting... I hear there's a lot of tequila there.. lol...??
What an exquisitely produced and written video. What an incredible story. Lastly sir might I add you have a wonderful way with words. Are you by any chance a writer? You paint vivid pictures with words. Bravo!!!
I don't know who he is... But I know he does all the research, video clips, script and graphics himself... It's a one man show...and a very well done one of I may say so myself.
I JUST saw this same story on a YT episode of " I shouldn't be alive." A series that tells true tales of outdoor survival stories. Highly recommended!
There was a movie done about this story too with Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) playing Yosi. Really good movie!
This was made into a movie (Jungle, 2017) starring Daniel Radcliffe. It’s a good movie.
I haven't seen it .. this is the first I've heard .. after seeing the movie then the vid .. did you learn any thing new?
What a sad yet beautiful story.
Some who wander are hopelessly lost.
wow he plugged himself,
That must hurt like Hell.
this is one of your best narrations. word use is varried and diverse
What a story! Another video well done, lot of respect for the way you put these together - they are engaging, infomative, respectful and you obviously have researched how to pronounce the names correctly. Thank you again!
I really enjoy ur videos and narration. Thank you
I would like for you to do a video regarding the couple in Ruthless River. Remarkable story of survival.
Ruthless river? When?
Damnnn !! A very FAR place with tremendous DANGER factor ...
😮😓😥☠️💀💀
Amazing story! Thanks for an exciting morning's viewing.
Best way to kick off my Labor Day weekend! I’m off tmrw & I’m sooo happy about it!! Getting an extra day off is much needed! I always look forward to your videos! Over 42,000 subs! U were just at 30,000. It just keeps climbing! Can’t wait to see 100,000!! Keep up the amazing work!
And it's because of folks as yourself. I really appreciate it
They made a movie about this. You did a great job it almost sounds like you made a narrative version 😮
Your channel is so well put together and underrated! If I may suggest turning the microphone up a notch, but thank you for your hard work in these!
I love this channel
❤️
They went there to STEAL those people's gold. 🎶 It's called karma baby and it goes around! 🎶
Love your videos. You have the best voice in the business. I think you should research and do a story on the indigenous children who survived a plane crash for 40 days in the Amazon in Columbia. That happened a few months ago and is interesting. I know you would do the story and the spirit of survival justice.
That does sound interesting. I'll take a look!
I hope you don't think it's a real voice lol
Just goes to show how dependent we are on food.
You should do a story of Froon and Kremers who died in Panama jungle! They went for a fun hike completely unprepared and sadly perished 11 or 12 days after.
Good one my man!
I felt this story sounded a little scetchy even before one friend found the other friend weeks later on the river. I think it was all staged. They look skinny in the pics but they don’t look dying. The odds of finding a lost person in the Amazon are slim but the odds of finding your friend after you yourself being lost are lower than winning the powerball.
Interesting take. Hmmm....
Always make signs on the ground that can be seen from the air. Find a clearing and make an arrow pointing the direction you're travelling. Use stones if possible to write SOS on the ground..or use sticks..try to hang brightly coloured objects in vantage points and have your signal fire ready to light the minute you hear any type of engine
Thank you for these video's. Education of the wilderness.
Another great video
remember the jungle w/ daniel radcliffe ? good film
Excellent video, thank you❤
You are so welcome!
Oof the foot thing that sounds excruciating.
I think the only real danger I might put myself in is the classic every Midwesterner problem, wanting to watch Tornados. I'd love to photograph a tornado be awesome.
amazing story but hat a horribl ordeal for these guys !!!
Insects and oppressive heat. A resounding NO from me 😱
Thank you, Outdoor Disasters.
Keep it up
Aside of gold fever...they were ill prepared how naive.
I'm sorry. I would have tapped out at "jaguar".
I think it is was in freaking night just to make sure I would have died crying & pissing myself.
Hey man, loving your content, but there's something about your background music that leaves me feeling uneasy every time I hear it.
If that's the intended purpose then it's a stroke of genius.
For the algorithm
Have a nice day!
I’m from Switzerland, never heard of Marcus. But Bruno Manser, also missed in the forest.
I read his book many years ago. There was a bit of controversy regarding Yossi and Marcus. Was Marcus abandoned by Yossi?
This is a good one heard several years ago.
Edit: I shouldn't have survived.
Kevin Frail!!
JUNGLE SHARKS!
Come to Brasil 🇧🇷
Gr8 Vid👍. Stay out people... UGHHH
Didn’t they Make a Movie about this Story? The Movie is Called Jungle on Hulu 2017
Yes sir!
Oh what a remarkable story! What this poor man endured.I think the girl was his guardian Angel...who then influenced the search party to be exactly in the right spot. What other explanation is there? There is no such thing as coincidence.I think God help us if certain members of mankind found somehow that there was an abundance of riches to be mined in this jungle.Truly it would begin the slow death of this planet & humankind for sure.Greed is more important than life it seems.End of.😢😡🙏
if he had a lighter and bug spray why didnt he build a fire ?
Bud Ice bring all those Amazonian Women to the club
Wow. Comment deleted. Glad I spent 20 minutes writing if 😐
give me everything you mentioned in the comments instead of a jungle. id die in a jungle as well
Dad?
Yes my son?
Sounds like an idiotic plan to say the least.
Wow just wow!! I couldn’t even imagine going into the jungle especially on purpose. What they went threw wow talk about life lessons. Just happy that they made it threw. I was crying when kevin found yossif. That is true friendship!! I was worried that maybe some of the things they went threw were embellished. But no one could tell such a story, it was like a living hell!! So happy that they made it out. So sorry to Markus and his family. Not knowing what happened to him must have been very hard to deal with. I pray his last moments were quick and painless. This is true survival. 💙🙏🏽🩶🙏🏽🩵🙏🏽
