- Welcome to Thor repairs channel and another 2021 Ram Rebel video. Today my video is about Fluid Film Spray Can undercoating application. I got this on sale at my local hardware store. I hope you find this video helpful. Please subscribe and leave a comment. Thanks again!
UPDATE: FYI this stuff stays pretty greasy and doesn’t really dry. Not an issue being that it’s under the truck. I can see why it needs to be reapplied every year.
I bought a 5 gallon pail of woolwax on Amazon. Used about 3 quarts on my Ram.
Remember forget about car washes that have under carriage wash. Once u apply it it's best to drive on a dirt road to get a nice layer of dust, dirt on the application
I've sprayed about 6 cans on my 4runner including inside of the rockerpanels and a frame. you should remove those drain plug and spray it inside there too !
That’s the plan when I reapply it in the spring. 👍🏻👍🏻
On my rebel I removed the four sticker/ plugs on the backside of the rockers and sprayed down in the holes until coating started to drip out the seam.
I noticed the plugs under there. That’s a good idea. My next application I’ll definitely get in there and do that.
Didn’t even know this was an option. I got the Linux underbody spray protection. But it’s expensive, and you have to hope the guy doing it does a good job.
Follow up video? Just bought a newer vehicle from out west thinking about doing this before the winter. Living in the northeast this is definitely a must!
I will be posting a one year with the truck and update on the under coating. I haven’t been under the truck totally but it appears to be doing the job. A full report coming soon. 👍
Buy a compressor and the gun and spray it properly, cans are too expensive for big areas, buy the big cans
Thanks for posting, going to do our 2021 Ram today. Wondering about the oil pan. Our last two Ram trucks had issues with the oil pan rusting out. Im wondering if the fluid film will stay on the oil pan with the heat generated there or not. Im on the fence whether I should try geese, or the Fluid film? Leaning towards grease.
I’m gonna do a fluid film update soon. I’ll check my oil pan. It’s almost exactly a year since I applied it. 👍
@@thorrepairs6557 Answered my own question today, it melts off - looks like i all try grease.
@@89unica good to know. Thanks for posting.
Running boards would really really help protect that area. Had them on all my trucks and never an issue. Seen many trucks without and rust coming through. It’s the stone chips that kill it. And salt of course.
Yes your right it was the stone chips that started it all. I thing ill be getting these mopar running boards. part#82215508AD. They look good on the TRX.
@@thorrepairs6557 I always preferred a full flat running board. Not the round bar type. Flat ones protect more but not everyone likes the look. I like the look but more so of the practicability of them. Plus easier to step on.
Get a nice set of slider made with a plate on top, they act as rock guards and protect the body while offroading
They cause rust. Wth are you talking about 😂😂
@@bradj5642 not once with me. I had trucks all my life. Had running boards on every truck. Reduced stone chips to the cils. Thus chance of less rust. I kept my trucks for 10 years and no rusting. Meanwhile other trucks had chipped paint or rust.
Hows it holding up?
So far so good. I’ll do a better inspection in the spring 👍🏻
You have to get it in the rockers.....remove the plugs....
Yes that’s the plan next time I apply it. 👍🏻👍🏻
Definitely pull the plugs and spray every where you can, you will never have any rust if you do.plugs are in the door sills too. Pull out the taillights and headlights and get in there. look for plugs everywhere, pull em and spray inside. I do my rig every year. Never have a bit of rust. Well worth the money.
Awesome thanks for the tips. I’ll be doing my second coat soon.
Fluid film is good but it smells nasty, corrosion free / rust cure is better, clear, thicker, no drip and no smell. had mine done at a shop for $150 and its good for 18 months, they'll even warranty your car against rust if its under 2 years old.
Lol a car under 2 years old shouldn’t rust even without anything
He means if you do the undercoating before the vehicle is over 2 years old corrosion free will give you a warranty.
