    I remember my mum being so upset when Diana died, only for her to die a year later. Seeing Diana, Alan, and their young son, Jason, sitting alongside one another, and knowing they have all gone is rather sad. Hope they are all together in a better place. Diana was such a lovely lady, down to earth and great fun, she was also a bloody good actress,

    William Harper- this is from the ITV era. Sadly Diana died less than two years after this show, as did Alan Lake who took his own life.

      Paul Mason I know I was around 9 when that happened, he was too obsessed by Diana, it wasn't fair on his son Jason, he had hardly had time to grief for his mother!

      Yes, she was excellent in it .... that was one of the few times when her husband / agent let her do a non glamorous role

    • @kevvome
      @kevvome Před 5 lety +2

      She made 'YIELD TO THE NIGHT'' and was tremendous in it.
      Oh boy, Di could act as good (if not better) than the rest.
      But she liked to party and never took it all seriously...like all the rest did.
      She married Alan Lake for one reason.
      They were two of a kind and loved each other because of that.
      I hope their son Jason is doing well.
      Take care mate.
      You come from great stock and never forget that son.

      She had two boys (the eldest shown here) with Richard Dawson, a famous TV game show host in the US. The youngest with Alan Lake, was the 11-year-old in the audience. Diana and her husband were dead within 3 years of this show, when her ovarian cancer reoccurred...then hubby shot himself. The youngest boy, Jason, was then sent to live in the US with older half-brother Gary Dawson in LA, California. The three sons are middle aged and still alive.

    Towards the end of her life Dors had meningitis and twice underwent surgery to remove cancerous tumors. She collapsed at her home near Windsor with acute stomach pains and died on 4 May 1984, aged 52, at the AMI Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor from a recurrence of ovarian cancer, first diagnosed two years before.She had converted to Catholicism in early 1973; hence, her funeral service was held at the Sacred Heart Church in Sunningdale on 11 May 1984, conducted by Father Theodore Fontanari. She was buried in Sunningdale Catholic Cemetery. After her death, Alan Lake burned all of Dors' remaining clothes and fell into a depression. On 10 October 1984, Lake did a telephone interview with Daily Express journalist Jean Rook and then he walked into their son's bedroom and took his own life by firing a shotgun into his mouth. He was 43. This was five months after her death from cancer, and 16 years to the day since they had first met.

      According to their close friend Lionel Jefferies, Alan had an inoperable brain tumour. He was dying as well. His suicide was not the selfish act it has been perceived as. They were caring for each other at the end.

    Diana Dors, a real person. From that faded time, when actors knew they were just actors, and not some sort of gods. They always remembered where they came from, and just who they really were. When actresses and actors had real personalities, and talent in spades. Unlike today's shower of shit, with their shallow principles and tiny minds.
