i’m honestly starting to think it’s more of a shonda and greys anatomy set itself that’s toxic and not the actors.

Definitely. The original story was that Patrick wanted more time off set to mend his marriage with his wife (since they were separated or close to it at the time and that’s why Derek wasn’t on the show much) and Shonda was like NOPE and killed him off instead.

I always take these stories with a grain of salt, like you cast the guys and then they perform well and get paid a lot more while the show creators make millions more eventually heads will get big on both sides but we’ll only hear about the actor’s ego cuz we’ll why would the show creators admit they’re assholes too 🤷🏾♂️

Katherine Heigl had a bad reputation before and since Greys. Most of the leads were on the show for 5, 8, 10 or more years which is a long time to work at any job...even for us regular people! They were ready to move on.

I still don't get how Grey is still on the air they get rid of all of the good characters. With Patrick I think maybe part is true and part is false, Shonda always has problems with actors and gets rids of them. Maybe with Patrick the fame affected him.
Maybe Patrick made a mistake or 2 but what I find interesting is Patrick has worked with a lot of high profile actors and I’ve never heard anyone outside of greys complain about him everyone else seems to love him

@@kelss000 Generally speaking, a working experience with someone is not indictive of the others. Grey's Anatomy was a decade long era for Patrick. Being on a 6/8 week movie set can certainly be different from going into another year with a long running series you're maybe tired of.

I don’t totally agree with this but there really has been a pattern where most of her actors left the set because they said it was getting toxic. You can even notice that whenever Ellen Pompeo makes some sort of remark about the show or Shonda, she immediately follows it with some sort of humor to negate it.

I worked in production Netflix, NBC, Hulu, honestly I believe it's the work schedule. I remember being on set for certain shows at 5am not leaving til the next day at 2am now doing that on a network show with big as Grey's would be hard for anyone. Trying to do TV and film. They say diva attitude but after a long shoot. it's hard to bubbly every waking minute when you're exhausted
So his mom died and his kids felt like he isn’t spending enough time with him and his wife wanted to divorce him, yeah I’d say that would make you hate your work but your duty as a parent to provide the best for your kids pressures you to stay

He said he didn’t like the direction his character went (everyone hating him and George doing immoral things which is out of character of him to do, bc he’s supposed to be the underdog type) AND because out of all of the main cast (him being one of the original main characters) he only got a total of 40 minutes of screentime throughout the whole season while his peers had hours in comparison. His character was completely assassinated, he was reduced to a background character, and all of this JUST so happened to conspire IMMEDIATELY after Isaiah Washington had to be terminated from the show because of how he treated TR. To me, that is not a coincidence. Shonda even tried to defend Isaiah, if I’m not mistaken. She remained friends w him (which is her right) but she let her friendship with him effect her treatment of TR. That’s just my take on it all. 🤷🏻♀️

I think these actors exaggerate...15 hours on set they say but they probably film in the morning for a few hours to capture certain light etc, then they have an 8 hour break before the night time filming starts. Yet they all say 'I do 15 hour days.' You don't!!

@@pinkyalmeroth3702 there’s definitely no 8 hr break between day and night shoots especially if most of it is interior. Actors get to set as early as 6am to get started in hair and make up. Exteriors have to be done at a certain time of day or night obviously but they use lights and black out curtains and all sorts of tricks to create whatever time of day they need for interiors. It is 100% likely that they are on set 15 hrs. They might not be working that whole time while things are being set up, but they can’t just leave. I once spent 9 hrs in a trailer because they were trying to get all the the exterior shots they needed before it started snowing and I was only there for the interior shots.

patrick's mom had just died and he was divorcing when he was killed off of the show. he would work 15 hours a day every day. of course he would have his bad moments but everyone has always said good things about him.

I feel like actors get on each other toes since their exhausted. 15 hrs. Thats a lot. Leaves you 9 hrs to sleep... To spend with your time with family and be yourself. I have a friend who is a celebrity in my country. She not that big just minor roles. She would go off to work at 5am. Finish the taping at 12am. Got exam at 7am.. she was juggling her work, school and friends all together. We would meet in her break for coffee. But just walking distance in their set. Laugh how she got all those energy and still be functioning
Well Patrick went into endurance racing after that which is still tough hours under tough conditions

I just feel bad for Katherine they black listed her when she left the show. Now everything's coming out and it looks like she was telling the truth after all
I recall Reading a story that said the writers had Patrick go to DC for the majority of his last season because he was “suspended without pay”.
As we fans remember that 12th season Meredith and Derek were fighting terribly. Meredith told Derek to go to DC and he gladly went. The writers had their marriage on the rocks, unclear where to go in the storyline. Writers had to wait for the decision whether or not Patrick Dempsey would be fired before writing an ending for his character.
Derek was written off to DC (suspended) until the last two shows of the season. He returned, reconnected with Meredith and then died.
We all remember Meredith’s last few words to him when he was “alive” was..
“ I CAN live without you but I don’t want to”.
Looking back, I wish that was not said. I feel it minimized their relationship and Meredith’s love for McDreamy. Derek as we know, goes to quit DC job and dies in the car wreck.
I would have liked a different ending for Derek, perhaps he dies when the two of them have fallen back in love again. Although not possible because he was fired in reality, that’s why he had such a small part of his last show.
However Dempseys firing was the best thing for Ellen Pompeo. Rumor is he was paid twice as much than her.
She ended up with a pay raise that made her the highest paying TV show actor.
The show was ruined after his death. I still watch, but Grey's is nothing without Derek and Cristina.

I stopped watched the show after McSteamy died .. someone tell me if I’m missing out on the newer stuff or not. Knowing now, that McDreamy was cut off the show doesn’t really help either.

I stopped watching for a mounth as well after McSteamy and Lexie's deaths. And when I eventually started it again it just didn't feel the same, so for sure the best of Grey's is like till season 9, although I'm currently watching season 11 and I'll probably stop watching after Derek's death
I refused to watch GA after they killed Derek's character too. I did not even see the episode when he died. I heard about the spoiler online and decided to end my viewership right then and there.
I read the excerpts from the HR article, boiling down to Patrick acting like a child because his fame and his character were marketed as God-like, so he acted out when he didn't get his way. I am not dismissing such behavior, but since he came back and agreed to come back, clearly Ellen moved on and that's what matters now. Besides, when he first left, there were rumors about this, so it's not like this is breaking news
