The entire Denny series was incredible. This scene and the scenes with Dennys ghost were her best work on that show. Just iconic. & That’s 100 percent why it’s still around what they did those first 6 seasons was unforgettable, they’ve continued to try and capture that M.A.G.I.C, but it can only exist with the OGs.

Agreed! I’ve watched the first few seasons so many times I could recite the dialogue in my sleep. Too bad the show went down hill in the later seasons.
That scene is seared in my brain forever. Izzie's cries were haunting. I could feel everything she was feeling & my heart broke with hers. A well-deserved Emmy!
One of the best episode of greys. And season 1-2-3-4-5 MADE greys anatomy. And because of these seasons and those actors the show is STILL this iconic. Period.
I’m surprised that one didn’t effect me the most it was when she got cancer and Gorege was hit and they both seen eachother, shit wrecked me for a good 30 minutes 😅

My heart still remembers it, and I am very grateful to have seen it. Catherine and Javier were amazing and I thank them for giving us such an amazing experience 🥰
My respect for her both personal & professional grows as she does. True example of both the guts & the glory of being a performing artist in the public eye while also having their own whole ass life. Being human is much harder doing it in the spotlight. ❤
So so sorry to hear about this Katherine... your tremendous loss of your Brother as a Child. Our love ones are forever with us in our hearts. Thank you for always being so Sweet whenever I see you on interviews. God Bless You and Yours 🙏🏻♥️😇
Method acting is so dangerous and has hurt a lot of actors. I did it for a play in college and it takes a good bit to come back from it. And like she says, there are other ways, other acting methods that aren't so destructive to one's mental health, that will make a scene good.
The whole Denny storyline killed me. I cried for days when he died. The way u played that part tore my heart out. I found myself angry that I couldn't hold u and comfort u...that's how extremely powerful the story was. Letting myself go there and feel it ...heart wrenching. One of my favorite episodes. Not only for Izzie and Denny but the scene before that with Meredith and Derick in the exam room and the way Derick takes Meredith’s panties off and the music playing in the background. ICONIC 😢
One of the best scenes of all 19 seasons! There are soooo many phenomenal moments as a result of wonderful acting (or in some cases, truly living it) that I have many favorites, but Izzy’s heartfelt reaction to losing Denny is definitely one of THE best! This is by far the best series ever created!!!!

I watched this episode on Christmas day. My family were so concerned because I was literally crying and it took me a long time to get out of my room. Such a very heart wrenching yet good episode
I appreciated that they talked about this idea of "what we will do/sacrifice for great art." Huge fan of Katherine's work on Grey's. In my opinion, that scene was incredibly real and thankfully everyone brought their game in that amazing second season (especially the last couple episodes with that Denny arc my GOD). To contribute to the conversation, as a fan, I think we also often forget the real pain behind the writers when they created their art for the actors to even read. For instance, I know Krista Vernoff wrote the episode where George's dad died after her own dad died. I remember one of the other writers said that they had to write an episode where she channeled the experiance where her real life husband had a surgery where he might die. They each chose to write those episode because they cared so much about the art and couldn't imagine any one else writing it because they had lived the experience. By the second season, they poured so much reallness into the project. So Katherine, I think it's something that the artists need to consent in doing, however, that is what makes for magic. When we are writing and performing with our experience. And the combination of the writing of that scene with your performance made a product so beautiful and authentic that many artists will strive but never reach. Equally superb storytelling and acting.
This was one of the biggest cliffhangers of all time. When she cut the wire, I couldn't believe it. And it was all so well acted from everyone.
