  • Yes, the name of this video is a pun, or more accurately a play on a Shakespeare quote, please forgive me... I was very tired and couldn't think of anything less silly. Perhaps I didn't want to.
    I returned to find more treasures from the dump; that flood waters had kindly washed out and carried to convenient places for me to find; a few select beaches downriver.
    I hope the resulting footage makes for an enjoyable video.
    If you do find this video enjoyable, please give it a like, a subscribe, a comment, a share... whatever you feel comfortable with. Suggestions, comments and criticisms are all welcome.

      @tomburleigh9261  Před 4 lety

      I'm pretty much landlocked too... I live about halfway between the east and west coast of England. This site is very unusual anywhere I think, most such dumps were usually built away from rivers... I think there would be similar dumps near most western towns, but the ones that haven't been built on are mostly still underground. I am very lucky to have found it, and to live quite close by. 🙂

    You have absolutely no idea how bad I want to go to that beach!!! Unbelievable the amount of history on that one stretch. A little bit of everything, and of course me being me, I would want to keep EVERYTHING!!! Small medicine bottles, small poison bottles, clay marbles, clay pipes, game pieces, bottle stoppers(glass and vulcanite!), and on and on and on. Just simply unbelievable that a place like that exists! Like you chaps across the pond would say, "I'm gobsmacked"!!!

    • @tomburleigh9261

      Yep, it is an incredible place, I don't think my CZcams channel would be doing half as well without it, and I've had a great time exploring it and finding things. There is a legendary place on your side of the pond that probably exceeds this one many times over; Dead Horse Bay in Brooklyn, NY. What a wonder video! I could spend hours on those beaches, looking and collecting. I to love the colored glass and the tall thin ones are so graceful. • @tomburleigh9261
      @tomburleigh9261  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Mary. I'm afraid most of the stoppers I find don't fit most of the bottles. But I'll keep looking. The skeleton is sitting on the bookshelf above my computer now, he's got plenty of good books to read, and also some alcohol if he fancies it; I don't drink it much and he's welcome to it as long as he doesn't get too drunk and fall off the shelf... that could be tragic.

      @tomburleigh9261  Před 5 lety

      Yes, I've got a large box full of shards now. I'm learning how to identify their ages, but it's slow going and I don't have many project ideas for the pottery yet. Might have to be even more selective before too long... which leaves more to find for other people.

      @@tomburleigh9261 Hope to find a shortcut with words to pass a few ideas. Shards of China or pottery can be used to line a birdbath. Or perhaps a large nearly flat tray. Could then be used for displaying some of your bottles. Another could be a welcome sign for the front entrance. Use a bold color for the wording and plain or small print for the background. Bucket handles and other pieces of metal could make a mobile for the garden. I enjoy your videos very much. I hope they continue for a long time.

    I happen to appreciate that you don't take everything. It gives other people a chance to collect some of the smaller bottles as well. Most people would take them all or sell them all. I thank you for giving others a chance to collect them. As for the milky glass pots, I use that Lysol toilet bowl cleaner to get the stains off of your pots. Its the blue one, that's called Lysol with 10x power clean. I don't have to scrub so hard. It also depends on the amount of crud on the items. You just have to soak them in the sollution longer. It takes off the rust stains to. I found this out by using it on my crystals and some of my semi precious stones. It will also dissolve calcite, and if the directions are followed properly, then it will be something you want on hand as a cleaner and so many other uses. I was amazed at how well it cleaned old rust stains and I was so impressed.

    • @tomburleigh9261
      @tomburleigh9261  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Crystal and Robert Dominguez🙂 I'm not sure where I can get Lysol in the UK, but I'm looking for an alternative brand with similar ingredients and will give it a try. I'm glad you see an upside of me not taking everything, that's one of the reasons I don't, but the main reason is that cleaning everything I take, takes about 3 times as long as it takes to find it, and is much less fun. 🙂
