Christen and Tobin started off very different paths. Christen didn't like it from the beginning, while Tobin felt attracted by it the second the ball landed in her feet. It was Christen's mom who told Christen to give soccer a second chance.
Many people don't know this but Christen and Tobin met in college. Christen went to Stanford while Tobin went to North Carolina Tar Heels. They faced each other in the National Championship in 2009. Each team chose 2 of their best players to show in the final. They were Casey, Tobin, Christen and Kelley. North Carolina ended up losing that game. Tobin ended up getting a call up to the USWNT in 2011 along with Amy Rodriguez and Lauren Cheney, (the new kids). That same year, Tobin ended up going to the Olympics, but missed the pk that caused the USWNT to lose the final to Japan. Both Christen and Tobin went to play abroad, Christen went to play for Gothenburg/Kopparberg and Tyresö Sweden, and Tobin went to play for PSG.
People say when they went to play abroad, they ended up in relationships. Tobin dated Shirley Cruz, and Christen dated Vero Boquete. When they returned to the US, the build their friendship. During the 2015 World Cup final, both Shirley and Vero came to support them.
Tobin's goal in this match created a beautiful picture from missing the pk in 2011 to then scoring a goal in 2015. It is said that during the victory tour Christen and Tobin developed feelings for each other, and around that time that they broke up with their girlfriends. It was when the USWNT took a trip to Hawaii in December 2015, but couldn't play because of the bad fields, that they became a couple.
Tobin met Jenni Hermoso, who was best friends with Christen during her time in Sweden, still is. Christen missed the pk in the 2016 Olympics against Sweden, which caused her a lot of problems. She will come stronger this upcoming Olympics. Christen's mom passed away early 2019 before the World Cup, which caused Christen to make this significant goal against England in the semifinals. Many people speculate that Christen and Tobin are engaged due to Christen's ring. - Sport
When they hug each other after a goal there is always that extra second of holding on, so cute.
Can't get over the fact they played against each other in 2009 and both started their careers right after. Fast forward how many years and ....????!!!!!!
