Carol was brilliant showing us around!
Love the historical narratives and the wonderful country views! Thanks
All that abandoned rubbish and the bin was _just there!_ 🤯
People are such disgusting creatures. Good on you for picking it up 🤗
You have such fabulous history to explore in the UK. I’m exceptionally jealous 😂
Meant to say, we slso litter pick regularly, it's a shame we do, but we can't walk by and leave it, done this for years. People just might get the message one day, and clean up after themselves 😊
Another great video. Your choice of music in all your videos is wonderful and so varied. Thank you.
Carol's snake in the grass comment is a classic
I went in the Hall there before Lord Lichfield passed. Saw a private photo gallery of his & his private living room & kichen. Lunch in the Orangery was fab. That Ballroom is fantastic. Its a beautiful location for a wedding venue now
You do have a beautiful country and wonderful old, stately homes. Thank you for taking us along to view these from within and above. We're getting the best of both worlds! 🏰 🦅
You’re welcome Judith. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Fantastic. Loved that. Well done Ken for picking up the rubbish. Shame you had to .
Thank you Carol for your excellent tours around the houses amazing.
Your van is so economical. We went away in ours last week and didn't go half as far on the same diesel . We have an old van 😮.
Really enjoyed the moment you met that lady on her birthday 🎉 how wonderful.
Thanks again. Kate
Thanks Kate. So glad you enjoyed it ☺️

Not the dreaded mowers! Reservoir looked pretty nice. Shame about the rubbish. You did well picking it all up. Our dogs love chasing squirrels. The Hall looked a lovely place to visit. Dinner looked tasty. Aw nice you met some subscribers! Fabulous paintings. Gardens looked great too with the sculptures and surprises. Not a bad price for 10 days away 👍
It was a good trip and it helped not having to pay for campsites ☺️
Very nicely made video, has an almost professional touch about it!
Burley House looks like a really interesting place. Thanks for taking us along Carol and Ken! Looking forward to the Denmark series.
You’re welcome Linda. Thanks for watching 🙂
A very enjoyable series. Loved every episode. Thank you Carol and Ken ❤
Thanks Ali. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Litter bugs are the Bain of my wild camping life. I carry a litter picker in the camper now and wherever I stop do a pick before I sleep. I’m like you Ken I just can’t leave it lying around. Great video 😊
Hi there. Many thanks for the coffees much appreciated. I hope you got our reply 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK You’re very welcome for the coffees and yes I did get your reply. Much appreciated and love to you both 🤗
Wonderful, as usual. Looking forward to the next series now. Thank you. 👏😍🌞
Thank you 🙏
Great video that our country side is amazing
Taking care of the money is my domain too, and my husband couldn't care less 😂
Good job, Ken. Hate ya had to do it, but glad ya did.😊
Hola 👋 from southern New Mexico🌶️🌵..Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.💖😊
Hello from southern England ❤️
Hi Ken and Carol, 12:40 ... hear you , my wife is CFO in our family , I earn it she spends it ... all jokes aside we are heading your way next week, of to the UK and Europe for 7 weeks holidays, will keep an eye out for the little red camper while we are travelling around, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
Cheers Garry. Enjoy your trip and make sure to say hello if you spot us 😀👍
I so admire how economical the two of you travel. I took many trips to Paris for the museums and art. And I never ate out. But had fabulous food and found a very modest but spotless hotel in the Latin Quarter. I learned the ropes before I went but after the first trip, I was even able to be more economical. The point was doing what I wanted and learning Paris.
I did blow it out one freezing night and did the boat Cruz in the dark. Worth every cent.
Also you cook such wonderful meals in the van! I just adore it and bravo for seeing the UK and Europe on a budget.
Just removing the hotel accommodation saves a fortune. To think you did this trip for $50 pounds a day and ate very well, is amazing. My feeling is you must eat somewhere, so if you took the food costs off, it would be less because you would be eating at home!
It’s a cheap way to travel if you exclude the large cost of the van. One day when its gone and we take into account depreciation we can reveal the true average cost per night 👍
@@LifeistooshortCK, oh but you have LIVED, lived life to it’s fullest. There is no price you put on that. But using your travel pounds so very wisely has allowed you to experience so much.
But, yes, if you divide the cost of the van, I do still believe it will have been way more economical than the high price of hotels. But it would be very interesting to know. As always, I could be very wrong! 😅
@@Sushi2735 yes, still cheaper than staying in hotels and a lot more enjoyable ☺️
Great video! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching 🙂
Loved the sculpture Hardin. Pieces very well done. I certainly enjoyed the trip as always. Looking forward to next one.
Thanks Larry 🙏
The art in Burghley House was amazing.
Wow it was amazing. I must go there
Excellent music choice during the Burghley house visit. Stately homes are thinner on the ground up where I live but Dunrobin castle is stunning , well worth a visit . You may well have been though , I’m a fairly new subscriber.
Thanks for the comment and sub. We have not been to Dunrobin Castle but would love to see it next time we are up in Scotland 🙂👍
Beutifull one again. About rubbish: I have one of those hand-on-a-stick things in my van to pick up rubbish lying around. Don't have to touch stuff and don't have to bend my poor old back. 🤣
Thanks Hans. Will have to get one of those litter picker sticks 😊👍
Thanks Carol and Ken and the Little Red Camper for a fantastic series, we stayed near Burley last August, must have been there just before you, sadly we didn't have time to see the house and grounds, just a walk around the estate, we'll definitely go and visit in full, the garden sculptures are amazing, let's hope we don't get the heatwave this year, we collected our Bilbo on the hottest day if the year last August 😮xx
Our Bilbo has still to be made by VW. Not looking good due to parts shortage. Not Bilbos fault.
@@LifeistooshortCK We had that issue, then we were told it had been built and was on the key side waiting for export to the UK 🇬🇧, fingers crossed you get a positive update soon, we ordered November 2021, van already on order from VW by Bilbos, you might be lucky and get yours sooner than we did. 🍀🥂
Time will tell. We have an opt out clause in October. Hope we don’t need it.
Great episode & as always a great series, looking forward to the next one 😊
Cheers Lee. Denmark starts tomorrow 👍
I could talk forever about the litter bugs around, having litter pickers on the hand makes life a little easier for times like this !! Loooving your work as always you two
Thanks both
Thanks for the super thanks Jes❤️👍
Absolutely top notch stuff. You are the cream of the van life you tubers. The videography, the details, the drone shots, the storyline, the editing. Carol’s tours of the houses was magnificent, full of rich video accompanied by fascinating historical detail. This one ranks in the top 5 of your videos for me. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful adventures.❤
Praise indeed. Thanks Lorri ❤️
You should get a litter picker, save your back. I always clean up wherever I go too because as you say the locals will find any excuse to blame us, plus the damage to the environment really winds me up. Beautiful location thanku for taking us along.
Yes should get one 👍
Great 👍
Yes totes agree we just bought a pick up stick so we can pick the rubbish up when we go away. I hate picking it up as in Australia I’m sure a lot of the rubbish is from people going to the loo outdoors. Loved it as always. ❤
Yes some of it is gross. 👍
Another day well spent. Whoohoo yay 👏 for picking up the others garbage. It’s people like you that make this big world a sweeter place. Mary
❤️👍
Super interesting 😊
Thank you for a really enjoyable series. We’ve only just had our second wild camp at Shrewsbury, but I felt compelled also to pick up the rubbish. It wasn’t much, but I couldn’t leave it. Good idea to pack a few disposable gloves instead of the dogs poo bag I was using! Look forward to seeing Denmark. Xx
Thanks for watching. Glad you are getting into wild camping. Have fun and stay safe 🙂👍
The Garden of Surprises and the Sculpture garden was brilliant, thanks Carol. 👏
As a Canadian it boggles my mind how much there is to see and do in such small area. Anouther enjoyable series. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Yeah. England is like that. You rarely get to the top gear before it's time for the next stop.
Hi Carol and Ken - great series - the church in Melton Mowbray is St Mary’s think it got noted as St Michael’s - worth a visit around Christmas as they have a fab Christmas Tree festival early December - hope you enjoyed your visit to my local town 😃
Just goes to show that even when I look it up I can still get it wrong 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK 😂
WOW, Carol & Ken That Burghley House was something else. Great breakdown of your expenses Carol. Looking forward to the new series. It didn't look like you were going to be disturbed picking up the rubbish Ken, too busy sitting off.
Cheers Rupert 👍
What a joyous, peaceful escape. My sister and I JUST LOVE YOUR ADVENTURES! Thank you,
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Absolutely fabulous can't wait for Denmark x
Fabulous video and wonderful series thank you Carol and Ken 😀❤
Thanks for watching 🙂
Who comes up with your recipes , pure genius .
Really make do stuff , brilliant i must say
👍👍
We both do 😁👍
Yeh, here too, its 'you can do anything you want, be anything you want to be' generation. There are people paid to pick up after you by 'The Council' . Nice place, not much like that in Aus. Happy Birthday Shelley, hope you enjoyed your tea in the Orangey. Nice house, who was the person sitting in the foyer? The Garden of Surprises, was surprisingly good. Favorite necka da woods for me, England and Europe. Keep up the good drivin Eh! Thanks m8s!
No idea who it was Greg. They put chairs out for those who walk to the house I think. Many thanks for the Superthanks ❤️👍
This video was top notch, beautifully shot, edited and narrated. Lovely music as well 😊. How thoughtful of you to pick up the trash Ken 👍.Those Stately Homes are just stunning and I love the english countryside, it's so special to me. England will always have a place in my heart ❤. Can't wait to come back very soon, but first off to Riga. Looking forward to your Denmark series. Thank you so much. Stay safe🙏
Thank you for the SuperThanks and lovely comment, both are much appreciated. Enjoy Riga 😀👍
@@LifeistooshortCK thank you 😊
I liked that you picked up the trash, if EVERYONE takes responsibility for how it looks it will be better everywhere.
Outstanding photography. Your series was so enjoyable. Burghley House was Wow. Thanks for sharing beautiful England with the world.
Great video. Well done. Great pictures and audio. Thankyou both. Thankyou Carol for the taking me along with you on the tour of the stately house, I love history, this was a treat. Let's get into the house hope it's cool in there. A woman on a mission. Brilliant. Keep going. Best wishes xx.
And yet another great video, thanks for sharing and doing all the necessary comments when in the stately homes and the very interesting gardens....👏👏👏
Some people are just to bl!!!! Lazy to clean up after themselves I see there was a bin there thanks for picking it up lovely spot👍
Carol & Ken, Most enjoyable series Thanks Wee Jimmy
Cheers Wee Jimmy 🙂👍
The music at the end reminded me of the ambient music at Legoland at Christmas… (all day and all evening!)
Good on you for clearing up that rubbish 😢
Thank you for all your hard work
Thanks for watching 🙂
Many thanks Carol & Ken, for another great series 👍. Folks like us Ken, were taught by our parents to either take our rubbish home, or place it in a bin.........well done on collecting up the litter. You'd find a litter grabber stick very useful, as it would save all that bending down
Yes I will have to get one 👍
Lovely series. Very interesting places making up a nice manageable tour. Thanks for sharing 🙂👍🏻🚐 Trev
Thanks for watching guys 🙂👍
Ken n carol…have such calming voices ..and the editing and drone shots are great..everything about this series is interesting.
The stately homes are beautiful..how the upper echelons lived.
Thanks Carol n Ken 🇬🇧

Burghley house looked amazing 😊
Thanks so much for posting this vid, you visited 2 places Shugborough and Burghley I have wanted to visit for years, now my wife has watched your vid and she now wants to go too 👏👏👏
We had had them on our bucket list for years too ☺️ Well worth a visit 🙂👍
It was great seeing the Hoar Cross park up and Blithfield Reservoir fairly local to us....
Excellent well done both good luck 👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
Cheers Micky 🙂👍
Another Sunday morning with the all essential cuppa tea and dunking biscuits 😋 watching another entertaining & relaxing vlog. This series with the stately homes has been very good with some lovely gardens & surrounding areas. Melton Mowbray is synonymous with pork pie 🥧 & they are simply delicious 😋 I'm thinking in this country of ours we need to get some education innour schools to help prevent this blight on our nation that is rubbish just bloody thrown down & sometimes right nextvto a bin!!!!! What's all that about?? Really gets my back up seeing take away, chocolate papers & coffee & milkshake cups discarded all over car parks too!!🤬🤬anyway rant over ..Ken did his bit & fair play. Keep up the great channel 🎉😊
Give it 20 years and those doing it now will be complaining about it as well. How does it go … Lord give me the serenity to accept what I can’t control, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK very very wise words indeed 👏 👌
Loved all the historic homes you’ve visited. They were all different but beautiful.thanks for sharing from downunder 💜🙋♀️🙋♀️
Having an economical engine has really saved you high fuel bills. I hope that your next one is as good, so that it makes your trips more affordable.
We love the miles per gallon we get from the little red camper. It helps make travelling more affordable for sure 🙂
Great vid Carol & Ken l😁Beautifull Statley Home 😁 Have a great Bank holiday wkend 😎

Ken, I love your grumpyness! I'm the same.
Great video guys, makes us think why go abroad when we have such beautiful countryside, stately homes and parks right here at home.
Yes we are spoilt for them 👍
Well done Ken. We live by the beach and my hubby is out every day picking up litter.
Got to look after what we have especially where we live 👍
In memory of the late grate (no, that’s NOT a typo, I will have you know) Michael Adams, I have GOT to say that this is the most fun I have had since the pig ate my brother. No, we did not keep, visit nor encounter pigs. All of my brothers are accounted for and Michael did not have a brother to the best of my knowledge but I only knew him for 35 years. Having said ALL of that, this was another enjoyable series, thank you. The nonsense or vulgarity, depending on your point of view, was something that just popped into my head and I had to say it. For Michael as my fury at his departure is fading. I have considered a membership with the NPS, and the NHS though that is a bit more pricey. I have decided that I will establish a membership in person. Classical Civilization memories during the Elizabethan days sounded like an unlikely thing but then I realized that there were probably handfuls of people who fondly remembered the Good Old Days. Cromwell and all his shenanigans. You had Cromwell, we have an unmentionable former president. Being younger, it took us a bit longer. Here’s hoping this is the end of it. ::::looking around for any other pot to stir:::: Thank you for a lovely hour! Do you need a license or a permit for your drone? Do you get permission or ask forgiveness when flying your drone? And was/is there a test?
I had to pass a test, pay for a licence for the drone and another for me to fly it. I used to get grief from people but haven’t for a long time now. Most people can’t see me when I fly.
It was lovely to see your take on Hoar Cross, Blithfield Reservoir and Shugborough Hall. Living in Stafford these are places I’ve been many times. Awful to see so much rubbish. I’ve always been taught “the only thing you should leave behind is your thanks.” Take care Gill
You were raised well 😁👍
❤❤❤❤❤
Sometime in the early 90s, my job took me to London and it was arranged for me and several other staffers to visit Easton-Neston near Towcester in Northamptonshire. It is a private house and not open to the public. It is a beautiful stately home, but not quite up to the standards of an estate open to the public. I surprised the then-owners with my own personal story that I lived near a city called Easton in a county called Northampton.
Not many will have seen that house👍
Well done on the litter pick …. I am afraid is about respect or lack of ….
Shugborough on our doorstep and never been as is always the way
Thanks for producing and some great music choices ….
Aw that pork pie - like you I love them
Interesting stats as ever
Yes whoever made the first pork pie should be on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar square London.
I love your videos thank you both.
I can’t even imagine living like that! Can you? Lol😂 just absolutely gorgeous homes. Thanks so much for sharing your travels and more with us. Ken thanks so much for picking up the trash. Your right if others don’t clean up after the slobs they will shut places down. We have had alot of places closed here in the States.
No we can’t either 👍
Hi guys. Lovely series. Blithfield is nice and shugborough too. But you could have gone to Cannock chase and caught some adders lol. That melton Mowbray pie was huge!!! Take care x
Pork pie an adders now thats a day out 😁👍

What a wonderful finish to your summer 2022 series. I do love a sculpture park... Wonder what you've found to entertain us on your IOW trip?! YAM xx
We had a good time there 👍
Hi Carol and Ken, another great watch, your editing and music choice is spot on. I've got to go back and watch your last few episodes as I've just returned from my first big solo 4 week adventure.
Poland, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. Planning the next one now 🤔
Sounds like you had a great trip. Roll on the next one 😀👍
Thank you Ken and Carol, I have really enjoyed your series as always.
Lovely to see you pick up the rubbish Ken, even though you shouldn’t have had to do it in the first place, but thank you.
Looking forward to your next video’s to see what you get up to..😂😂😂
Take care
Thanks for watching June 🙂
Melton Mowbray, no pork pie Ken ??
Sorry I pre empted that one !
Had to have one 👍
Enjoyed your experiment, happy new van 👍2 questions did you air b& b ,s take dogs 🐕? And when you film in trains or restaurants do you ever get complaints or comments from the natives, or do you ask in advance? well done both thank you good luck 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
I don’t think Airbnbs we stayed in allowed pets but some do. Never had any complaints from filming in trains or restaurants 🙂
Well done 👏
Ive done that very same meal :)
All is well now, the MM pork pie has made an appearance. I was concerned for you for a moment, Ken 😆 My hubby loves a pork pie too, got to be a medium, none of those mini ones! If a thing is worth doing…😂
Medium is Ken’s favourite too 😁👍
@@LifeistooshortCK I’m not above a bit of food bribery myself, Carol. Today it was a Wagon Wheel in his packed lunch. Shameless, aren’t I? 😃😉
What a smashing series! Thank you both!
The trip to Shugborough brought back memories of visiting with my late Ma and Pa when I was little. I wonder if the narrow boats still do short pleasure trips for the tourist?
Glad you enjoyed it. We didn’t notice any narrow boats when we were there ☺️
@@LifeistooshortCK awww that's a pity. Thanks for the lovely video!
Well done Ken with the rubbish
We lived 4 miles odd from Rutland water in the early nineties …RAF cottesmore …. There’s a dark side to that area in 1993 … look up Roger severs we were there at the time ….Ken it might spark a memory as a politician
Interesting case. We all used to love being on a murder case. Always exciting trying to find out who did it.
@@LifeistooshortCK ahh so we’re you involved with it
@@chattybatty7726 no, not at all. It was a different force but I have read about it.

Ken, I hope you at least got an attaboy from that woman watching you pick up all the rubbish while relaxing in her chair! 😊
Nope. I think she thought I was mad.
Hi could I just ask what episode covered the area just north of Colchester / east of Cambridge . Many thanks
Apologies, Peter. That was just a stop we made on the way home that shouldn’t have been on the map.
THANK YOU for picking up the trash. I noticed the french-fry (chips?) container on the ground. It constantly pains me to think that one of the most ubiquitous "advancements" America has ever spread came from the spawning of fast food by the birth of McDonalds fatfood and the resultant papering of the earth with it's litter.
Yes it’s one of a few companies that can be spotted anywhere. What I don’t understand is by the time they get there it must be stone cold.
I love to follow some YT 's traveling in the UK and Ireland, what is obvious is the raised parking, or acces of places the last years. And really everywhere the cost is become unfriendly. You mentioned it several times to compare it with France for example. What if you have a small 'purse'? It's very unfortunate.
Hello you two, I forgot to thank you for all the work you put into this. I am a fan of history. See ou ✌
Some towns are in danger of pricing people out with their high parking charges. It can only deter tourists and be to the detriment of local businesses.
