I drove through this tunnel some years ago. Had to stop in the steepest part to remove a big rock that was in the middle of the road. If you do pass through this tunnel, you also have to pass through it again because this road is a dead end. Also, people are going on and on about that scary looking bridge in Japan that only has a 6% incline. This is 15.5%.
very super tunnel! i love to see you go to the mine tunnels in northerns norway! i go, when i got the time and money. the old tunnels that miners digged some 100 years ago. nice!
@@mjautilusmjauritzen4078 Depends on the car. My father used to have a campervan years ago, converted from a circa 1979- 80 Toyota Dyna. The engine in that was great(!) for descents like this. Just put it in low gear, and you allmost had to use the throttle pedal... The modern-ish diesel engine in the car I have now, though... Total opposite, really. I've gone down several decents like this one (I live in Norway) during summer trips, and I allways make sure my brakes are allright, because I am TOTALLY reliant on them. The engine doesn't have anywhere near the breaking capasity of those rugged old diesel engines like the one in that Dyna. Night and day(!).
YEAH AMAZING. MY MOM THIS VERY SUNNY DAY - THURSDAY MAY 1, 2014, WALKED THIS TUNNEL UP AND DOWN WITH HER FRIEND. THAT WAS A REAL SCARY MOVIE - WITHOUT ANY FOOTAGE. JUST 2 CARS PASSED BY WITHIN 45MIN. WALK INSIDE THE TUNNEL. I PRAISE THE LORD, SHE IS ALIVE :) I PLAN TO WALK IT TOO, WHILE VISITING NORWAY THIS SUMMER. THIS TIME I PUT A HELMET AND GORPOHERO ON IT TO DOCUMENT IT. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED, SO I HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THIS EXPERIENCE...
are those lights on the sides of the tunnel or just reflectors? Either way this tunnel is way too dark from the looks of things, or maybe it's just the camara, I'd like to think it's just the camera
its not open for trafikk ,only in sommer when its lot of turist ,so that some cr..... people can drive ther ,who thing that wee people are that craisy ,,
Hardly. Look at the google maps link provided in the description, and switch to areal-photo mode. You'll see that there are actually quite a few people who live up there.
There is a ski resort there and and old mill. The mill had 4000 visitors this far in 2018. We don't have cell phone coverage. I am working on getting fiber internet installed. It will probably happen. There are plans for a hydro power plant in the valley. Cost estimated to 100 million dollars.
And, rather importantly, no incline. Or at least, not in excess of 5 to 6 percent. This one has an incline of 15, 5... imagine going down it and then suddenly, your brakes decide to crap out...
I love norway but i will never cross this tunnel 1 no much light 2 not so large 3 if youu are in the harf and you car died so there are so many places to look there NO TUNNEL

@demonsparkx
no. look at the right side of the tunnel. there are some stopping places...
Great tunnel thanks for posting.
Thanks for explaining how that worked! That's a steep grade...
@themusso check the description. 2500 meters
2 words: train horn >:D
Just imagine if your car died in the middle of the tunnel..
I'd be rather more worried of a brake failure, to be honest...
@@Innerspace100 you could brake with the engine

It has lights, ventilation, one lane for each direction, SOS emergency phones.
