“Your visit is also an important symbol of our excellent bilateral relations and even more so our intensive cooperation in many areas. We are, of course, one of the many countries that are helping Ukraine militarily. We were the first country to provide an air defence system and the first country to provide fighter jets. And this cooperation in this area is moving towards the development of further bilateral cooperation.”

    8. SOUNDBITE (Slovak) Zuzana Caputova, Slovakian President:
“Our countries managed to sign a contract for the production of another 16 Slovak howitzers for Ukraine. The first units should be delivered this summer. Together with our companies, we will develop a new type of howitzer. We will cooperate on joint production of ammunition, and at the same time, our companies will be involved in de-mining Ukraine's territory.”

    11. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President:
“Basically, NATO provides security for all countries. And the pending question about inviting Ukraine? I think there is a lack of common unity on this issue, and it is a threat to the alliance itself, and therefore we expect positive results or at least some steps that would bring us closer to that positive. It is essential for the security of the whole world. I assume it also depends on the situation with the aggressor, the Russian Federation, because the Russian Federation expects the alliance to show its weakness.”
