  • Paul Pangaro and Patricia Ticineto Clough delighted the audience with stories from the past 5 decades.
Patricia Clough ran head-on into Cybernetics when she met Heinz von Foerster at the Biological Computer Laboratory in 1971. Paul Pangaro ran into Cybernetics head-on when he met Gordon Pask at MIT in 1976.
    So what?
After lengthy careers in their own fields - Clough in media criticism, social theory, psychoanalysis, Pangaro in interaction design, organizational design, design methods - here in public they explored these questions, seeking similarities across their differences:
    * What did we expect at our start in Cybernetics? What did we get?
    * What do we still want? What would we have to do that we’ve never done before, to get it?
The session comprised opening statements of 8 minutes each by Clough and Pangaro, followed by interrogation and critique from the audience, as well as short statements and engagement with others in attendance who have also experienced decades with Cybernetics.
