Oboe Concerto No.2- Frigye Hildas, SSgt Chelsea Russell, Soloist

The United States Air Force culture of inclusion is something Airmen strive for constantly. In this rendition of Frigye Hidas’ Oboe Concerto No. 2, we reflect on the dynamic and diverse nature of US Airmen today and their abilities to exemplify excellence and hard work in many fields. Oboist SSgt Chelsea Russell exemplifies these attributes. Hailing from Greenville, SC, SSgt Russell began her Air Force career with the USAF Band of the Golden West in 2017. She is a 2012 graduate of Bob Jones University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in orchestral instrument performance. In 2014 and 2016 respectively she received a master’s degree and Artist Diploma from the University of Cincinnati: College- Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, OH. She has held positions in several professional orchestras previously with the Kentucky, Richmond and Greenville Symphony Orchestras.
Hungarian composer Frigyes Hidas is well-known for his diverse oeuvre ranging from operas, to concerti, ballets, film music and orchestral music.
