Welp.
This is chaotic as shit but so is the show so this is very fitting. I love this dynamic and this potential pairing. They have so many parallels in their characterization and the way the restaurant thrives when they're communicating and working together. There's a lot of romantic potential but regardless if they go that direction, I think this bond can be deep and really satisfying to watch unfold on screen.
I'm down for them to get domestic too.

Yes, Carmey and Sydney: how they connect, know each other's language, move each other over their unearthly ability to cook and create tastes that glow and spark like "fire"; how they seek each other's approval, admiration, advisement; how she woos him to that next level, and how he courts her back to his "little bitch self" with his cooking. Everybody admires and is, at the same time, jealous of Sydney, this lovely, smart, brilliant young chef , angling for her moment of greatness. And why?
Because she fills ALL of the moments of the great and flummoxed Carmey. It's ALL about HER. When she comes back to get her last check, he woos her with a proposal of "partnership." Oh, those two; they're definitely "cooking" something ("somethin', somethin'") to feed the bear....
i didn't see anything romantic between them until he read his brother's suicide note and the FIRST person he reached for his phone to text was syd lmao they're endgame i hope
I knew I wasn’t the only one thinking this. In the last episode when syd comes back, Carmy looks at her like he’s in love.
notice how they always use "we" when speaking with each other? and how carmy automatically accepted sydney as his sous even though he said in his monologue that he sees anyone coming in to stage as competition? i feel romance brewing...

As for Carmey and Sydney, they DEFINITELY have chemistry that simmers, stirs, and wafts: oh, they're definitely, definitely ..." cooking" together, à la slow burn. And the dish is exquisite.

And of course, SHE came down in PERSON to pick up what she could have had sent to her. And it went without question that Carmy the Flummoxed Magnificent offered HER, Sydney, not anybody else, the first, middle, and last say about THEIR new Bear. It's all about HER.
It was from the moment Sydney came to that kitchen. Carmy had the chops, the grief, the genius, the loss. But she has gift, the drive, the vision, the hope. That "difficult" alley conversation between them? That was not ever about running a restaurant together. It was about THEM. Together.

I have never heard a show that depicts a real life disagreement. Along with a relationship attempting to actually be better. The way she was attempting to find the words so they could focus on the solution feels so real.

I hope there is no romance between Carmy and Sydney. Syd stands alone as a superb strong protagonist as much as Carmy. It would be wrong to dilute her to the role of woo’d woman to the strong chef. She had a much better character arc available than being the love interest. I really like The Bear for showing a strong platonic work relationship. There is no cynicism in how Carmy views Sydney.
