Never had a ring-billed gull- they annually turn up in western Britain but aren't as frequent in the east. However, I recently had a Bonapartes gull- an adult that turned up some 13 years ago and has returned annually to that spot. Not frequent that an American vagrant turns up and manages too survive for that long in different continent- I suspect it winters in Southern Europe somewhere.
It winters in Belgium actually. We also had a laughing gull in the past that survided and traveled Europepe for a long time. Sadly that ended just before I started birding and there hasn't been a twitchable since. We also had Bonaparte's Gull last year at the end of March and this year at the end of October. Both times in the province of Zeeland in the southwestern part of the country. Possible the same bird as one in the UK
