Honestly if it starts on the ice form, just eat for felyne safeguard, enter with your raw weapon and don't break the horn on the dragon phase. When you cart from escathon, you switch to frostfang and use the juicy fortify buff. Also you can Augment your Frotfang weapons for Health and Element 2. That way you don't even need ice attack decorations or coalescence to comfortably reach the threshold. Those weapons are god sent
@@yugnok I guess I should clarify that, I was talking about solo.
Btw if you have an actual team you can cheese the escathon with health boosters, since they stack, so there's still no reason to bring a suboptimal fire weapon

@@Haseltine333 I think you need to stack 4 and spamm eat astera jerky still, so I wouldn't recommend it :D
One thing to mention: If you’re playing CB, I believe the frostfang CB is actually an impact phial CB, meaning you might want to go with something like velkhana instead (might be the same for SA not sure).
Yeah very true, I noticed this myself earlier as well, but god damn does that CB look good 🥵
Absolutely not Velkhana, since Ice dmg on it is very low. Best Ice weapon with elemental Phials is Deep Schnegel II (Beotodus CB).
It's a damn shame that FFBarioth CB has Impact Phials, since it would have been a perfect upgrade to Deep Schnegel (same elemental dmg), but for some reason, it was turned into Impact.
Maybe Kjarr CB can best DS II, but good luck getting that.
hey, I just wanted to mention this thing I found somewhere else:
phial damage does almost nothing to the elemental dps check, all weapons have a modifier and cb phials do 10% to the check (not good) cb melee damage does 100% though
this makes frostfang the best cb to use, even with impact phials because you can use them to knockdown with stun to get elemental in
I recommend savage axe mode combined with an attack loop of elemental discharge II and rising slash

Frostfang is okay for Alatreon since the best way to do it is savage axe, other than that ist quite bad. Beotodus is the king velkhana is even lower elemental than frostfang so worst overall

Or just solo pierce (no headache needed with the elemantal change) in exchange for 1 or 2 deaths depending on your damage and skill, you get the fortify anyways. His Hp is very low and he is very easy to kill without the elemental damage. But if you really want to co op then you can stress yourself with breaking the horns and finding the right amount of damage. I used to do that once , not anymore XD !

Glavenous is a good option for fire along with Rathalos, currently using the Glavenous IG and the Silver Rath Hammer
I remember looking at the Glavenus option and there was something off about it. I think the elemental damage wasn’t nearly as high?
@@lightitupdan looking at the Glaives, Glavenus has 360 fire while Anjanath has 450, so it looks like Glavenus is the second highest.

I have Safi almost maxed out with upgrades and augments. Just working on getting the final level of my elemental charm. Then it's time to say hi to Alatreon again.

I've noticed your go-to ground combo with IG is Y Y Y B. Not to "uhm ackshyually" or anything lol, but if you're going for like, min-max dps, you'll want to use Y Y B B for the most damage. Although it's a bit more precise, so if you're going for more wide-sweeping hits just to make sure everything lands, Y Y Y B is still valid. (At least in my experience)

Hey Dan, U might never see this but I thought i would try anyways. Im currently master runk 64, i have completed all the special assignments given to me and I still have absolutely no Idea about the safi Jiva and all the other event quests..? if they actually are event quests. all the very strong end Game gear I basically have no Idea how to aquire. I havent even seen Alatreon. I feel like I have been missing something. Is there something that I missed ? am I missing story quests ? im a bit confused :D
Hey bud! So you’ve done all your special assignments to do with guiding lands and stuff. Have you gone into the gathering hub to do the Safi’jiva recon mission, if that’s available to you? If it’s not, then there’s still some guiding lands special assignments you’ve not done yet

I just joined :D, asked the qustion there PotaCrimson helped me right away ^^ but u were right too. I didnt do the gathering hub Safi´jiva recon. I just finished it and I can fight Alatreon now. Thanks again for the help :D @@lightitupdan
Safi unlocks after MR24 and completing the Hornless Kirin then Rajang then Stygian Zinogre Specials Assignments quest chain, you will then get a "??? Recon" special assignment to scout Safi(maybe gathering hub exclusive, not sure). Once the recon mission is complete then you unlock the Safi Siege which is a Gathing Hub exclusive. Alatreon will unlock once you complete the "??? Recon" quest. To unlock Fatalis you need to get the cutscene in Alatreon's "Blazing Black Twilight" then kill Alatreon in "Dawn's Triumph", then you will unlock "The Black Dragon" special assignment to fight Fatalis. Also at MR69 you unlock level 6 of the Guiding Lands and access to Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, Brute Tigrex and Scarred Garuga. MR100 unlocks more stuff but that's what I know so far as I'm still below MR100 so I maybe some info. Hope this helps

Hi I beat him recently and now I unlocked Fatalis but I heard Alatreons Gear is not worth farming. I am a Longsword main and beat him with the Kjarr Ice but my strongest weapon is the Raging Brachy Longsword. Do you have a video of stuff I should do so I can beat Fatalis cuz I am struggling a lot with him.

@@lightitupdan oh I beat him a couple of weeks after he came out with a friend whenever I fought him again I was just using his weapons because I heard that dragon element also weakens him I even tried to solo him once managed to break one horn, but I didn’t do enough element damage to weaken him enough
Nah only ice or fire, dragon doesn’t really do anything at all

If you want to! There's also the Azure Age Alpha + armor set for the same effect. IMO it's not necessary so long as you're keeping high uptime with your team's attacks

Do you mean which weapons you should look for? If so then you want to get the Kjarr weapons they are the best I think

Well I don’t know about your progress in the game but for a generally good weapon you can use for any monster except alatreon I would farm raging brachydios with other players, I think it is the second highest melee damage weapon in the game next to the fatalis weapons. Back then I got carried through the fight when I was master rank 24 and just unlocked raging brachy. His weapon helped me through the rest of the game, only time I switched it was for alatreon
@@avalam4554 If you farm enough fuel for Steamworks you can cheat out some of the rarer monster materials by using wyverian prints thats what I did for my raging brachy longsword
Any late game strong weapons should do you! The raging Brachy suggestions are great, furious Rajang weapons hit super hard too!
How is Alatreaon when it comes to poison based weapons? A bulk of the weapons I've created, with at least 3 fully upgraded (looking to augment them), are poison-based.
Absolutely do not use anything but the element you’re countering Alatreon with (typically ice), every bit of elemental damage you can squeeze out to nerf Alatreon’s Eschaton is key
They will be useless I'm afraid. Only ice vs fire (most of the quests), or fire vs ice
