Yes well these spaces i have always said should not be a tourist attraction. They should have signs up saying keep away from the guards on duty, do not take pictures and allow them to work in peace. Visitors please show respect and film or take pictures further away than what they are doing if it is a need.

I totally agree. I am an 86 year old Londoner. In the late 1940s and the 1950s long before mass tourism ,I would go to Horse Guards to see note to see, not touch the horses. Nobody then would have dreamt of mauling the magnificent animals. As for getting in the way of the unmounted troopers, if we did so then through not paying attention, no shouts were needed. The trooper would rap on the ground with his sword or scabbard and boy,did we get out of his way( no female troopers then) sharpish . I know that the clock cannot be turned back but what now happens is unacceptable and those who feel as I and others do must protest to the appropriate authority 🏴🇬🇧

But this is just my thoughts on it, not everyone will agree.

It would be difficult for the mounted guard to unhook the chain in case of an emergency, and an excited horse (they aren't very smart) could possibly injure itself or the rider trying to defeat/escape the chain.

Wow! I just thought of something that I have been missing all this time. They chain off the guards inside, why can they not chain off the horses in the boxes? It makes just as much sense as the guards inside, if it more. A daah moment.😮
It would be difficult for the mounted guard to unhook the chain in case of an emergency, and an excited horse (they aren't very smart) could possibly injure itself or the rider trying to defeat/escape the chain.
@@yodadf good point, but something needs to be done so those poor horses & guards aren’t harassed so much. I know horses bite, but a lot don’t or have been gently trained to stop biting.
Horses are unpredictable they could have or cause an accident
A chain would be dangerous in front of a horse because of it got spooked it might run into the chain and trip or injure itself.
