I think that we can generally agree that the sound man was the fourth stooge, the pokes, slaps and everything in between was enhanced by their great audio finesse.

i also love the "niagara falls" skit, there have been many who did this skit, but the stooges do it the best, even with them doing it with the car when they are going on their honeymoon. there are times especially if i am in a so called serious conversation and i need to lighten it up, if by chance some one mentions niagara falls, i start with the skit, and everytime everyone knows it and most join in.
The creators of Get Smart (Mel Brooks, Buck Henry) must have been fans of the Stooges because in the season two episode Rub-A-Dub-Dub, Three Spies On A Sub, Max (Don Adams) does the Falling-Out-Of-The-Hammock gag himself.

They decided to replace Curly with Shemp who was a great comedian and the older brother of Moe. Moe did take good care of his younger brother while he was off duty. A few years later, Curly soon died from another debilitating stroke at age 44 in 1952.
@@basilmarasco1975 yes, look up alger hiss it took place in the early 1950's. even though the three stooges are slap stick "low brow" humor it is still professional, and i believe it was scripted for a more intelligent viewer, have you ever noticed they quote shakespeare, sir walter raleigh, and others. only a person of some intelligence would know that, and i always like how they blended in some classical music into their comedy. and moe howard was the FIRST person to make fun of adolph hitler, not charlie chaplin, and hitler knew about it too. i loved the one when the stooges captured a whole german freighter, and when the captian asked how could three men make a fool out of a whole german crew, the officer replies " the are americans"
