Yeah, the pen deeply punctured Larry’s forehead.
That would explain why he doesn’t yell in an overly nasally voice, and you can see the reaction, the way he grimaces and doesn’t seem to realize for a moment that the pen got stuck in his forehead.
Poor Shemp...He was such a sweet stinker.😂
After the take, Moe took off after the director
According to"The Three Stooges Scrapbook"(the Book)Moe went after director:Jules White chasing him around the set..out the door and out into The Columbia backlot. He was angry..because he assured the boys that the sight gag was safe..which..it wasn't. Larry had said in a interview that after he was injured by that sight gag..he "used some choice word"(meaning he cussed at Jules)for getting him hurt..unaware that a school teacher and her students were visiting the set and they witness this scene. I'm sure that this didn't sit well with the boys.

The butler was a riot!!!!!!
The butler"Spiffingham" was played by Sam McDaniel..the brother of Hattie McDaniel.
Sadly, Shemp passed away from a massive heart attack shortly after this short was released. He and Moe’s baby brother Curly had died just three years earlier. This would also be the final appearance of longtime friend and supporting actor Vernon Dent. His health took a turn for the worst and he was nearly blind and was unable to walk for long distances due to his uncontrolled diabetes and resulting heart conditions. Vernon took Shemp’s passing extremely hard and declined even further. He passed in 1957 just two years after Shemp. Moe and Larry’s friendship deepened and they remained close friends for the rest of their lives. Moe really took the deaths of Curly and Shemp extremely hard and was never truly the same even on screen. He began to imitate his brother’s antics more and more on screen to keep their memories alive. Moe and Larry both passed away in 1975 just months after each other.
I love Moe's interpretation of God in this film.
