- Tom Brady appeared on Peyton and Eli Manning's simulcast of Monday Night Football, and cracked jokes with the two quarterbacks all evening. However, one comment of his got a big reaction both out of Peyton and Twitter during the game, calling defenders quote: 'dogs chasing cars.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to the quarterback's comments.

Tom Brady is a piece of Arrogant Sh*t that wan't these young football players , and refs to help him constantly make history in the NFL ! He's not playing football as a team player he's playing for himself!! Now people is saying "Tom Brady and the Buccaneers " !
I don't think he was trying to call the defense dumb. I think he was pointing out what a difference in focus and in personality the defense has than the offense. Can you imagine Mike Evans wanting to sack someone? I contrast when Tristan Wirfs came all smiley and sweet to Suh wanting Wirfs to get an angry edge.

Context matters. If you watched the broadcast Manning asked "why do defenses fall for the pump fake when the QB is beyond the line of scrimmage?" And Tom said they're like dogs chasing a car. At that moment you don't have time to evaluate whether the QB stepped past the line of scrimmage, you see a windup and you jump to block it.

How do they not feel the sarcasm on what Tom was saying. I’m not a Brady fan because he messed up the Colts so many dang times but you could definitely tell he was going for the dry humor approach throughout the conversation. I actually enjoyed it and it has helped ease my Brady hate!

Brady is probably the most and best prepared player in the NFL, he learns everything he can about teams and defenses.... do you really think Brady doesn't know defense players study. He’s right to be honest, defense is an inherently reactive skill set. You could know all the plays but if you can’t get to the right spots in time it’s useless so yeah it’s a lot of chasing around
One of the most enjoyable positions to play in football, especially if you're paid respectively for it. You're not the one usually being injured cause you're the one inflicting the damage or catching the football the odd time here and there so yes you can still get hurt but you're more valuable to the team due to your health.

Skip is right on this one, Tom shouldn't have said it. Ray, Luke, Ed, Troy. Deion and others have outstanding football IQs. He could have said something like obviously there are some tremendous defensive players with fantastic football IQs but in general because defensive players job is to react accordingly to the offense so they don't tend to be students of the game.
Peyton likes Tom and respects him but is undoubtedly jealous of him. How can he not be? A lot of players are jealous that he is able to keep playing this long. These men have dedicated their life to football and it must be quite difficult to have to retire at such a relatively young age. Then most of these guys end up doing work that keeps them close to the game so you are constantly reminded that you can't play anymore and Brady is 44+ and still playing.

I think the comment, when I heard it, was about how the offense knows the exact play coming and the defense has to try to figure it out.

A sweep blocking play is different from a screen play.. where a d linemen like a nose guard literally does the same thing every play. Corners playing man to man coverage job is too just cover the guy in front of you. Again not easy but it doesn't take a lot of skeem

Yes you react to their offense but if you can study and anticipate their offense, know their preferences and weaknesses…..they become more predictable and it increases your odds of reacting in the right way and not falling for a fake out.
Gronk -has said he doesn’t watch the tapes he lets Tom do that for him. Tom has said he tells Gronk -it’s not that hard-get open and catch the ball. That’s Tom’s sense of humor.
Im not outraged at Brady's comment, but at the same time you gotta say "C'mon man you didnt have to say all that". Ray and all of the dudes of that Giants Dline have massive respect for how tough Brady was. Dude took an almighty beating in that first SB loss to the Giants got back up and was literally one stop from his defense on that last Eli drive from winning the whole thing. When you hear how Mike and Osi talk about him the said how much they laid into him and Brady just kept getting back up and coming again.

In recent years rule changes have made it almost impossible to play defense. Defensive players can't hit, bully and intimidate anymore so all they can do is chase offensive players. So Tom is right but not because he's so much smarter than they are. If he had to play against LT, Mike Singletary, etc. back in the day he wouldn't be talking all of that smack.
