This man has made a multi-decade long career of satirizing (not celebrating) a stereotype of black women, and was rewarded heavily for it with ticket sales for his shows, contracts for TV shows, and movies. No one should be surprised by Tyler Perry when he admonishes black women.

Why isn’t he saying the same to black men
A lot of black men are terrified of black men. Ask a black man to hold another black man accountable, and the first thing out of their mouth is how the other black man might hurt them in some way. They come for us because they are scared of themselves. It's telling.

I was listening to a Jewish podcast and I tell you the more established men in those communities don't sit around telling women to accept broke men. They are giving other men career guidance and teaching them how to invest and become better members of their communities. If that’s an arrangement that some women have that’s on them and that’s their household. However, in a general sense women need to be sensible when it comes to marriage. Women carry most of the mental, emotional, and domestic load in a household even when they work full time. Marriages end because women are overwhelmed being everything in their household. I told myself a long time ago I wouldn’t carry the financial load of a household. It’s too much and because I had that standard my fiancé and I know I work but he is the primary breadwinner and I have expectations of him to fulfill that role. Some men are just an extra mouth to feed and the math don’t math for me. It’s better to be single than stressed.

He's not asking women to settle, he's asking women to raise men. I raised a man, clothed him educated him and all he did was take my money and time, neither can I get back. Am not even surprised at all, after the way he represented us to the public, why not just be okay with a man paying light bills. A good man doesn’t = broke man. We know majority of men are not secure in themselves to be with a woman who can’t make more than that. Why is it that it is only black woman who are constantly been told to settle and date down and take the bare minimum and be grateful for crumps.
