Should’ve just stayed down! And that’s the problem! Why sooo many black women stay in bs ass situations!!! You don’t wanna see all yo pay off goin to another woman!!! And that shit does drive you fuckin crazy!!! Been there!!! Now I don’t wait around no try and hold bruthas down! O fuckin well!!!! ✌🏾But they don’t show how these men drive women to these point... you cannot play with ppl in these ways.... then of course he’s the good guy cuz he did get the house back and gave her all that money... but no he couldn’t make him still fight to get his damn wife back! Oh he came up and she finally said fuck it.... so move on to the one who “held it down” wen you “gave up”... give me a damn break!

Thats how i feel too but malinda stayed even despite her confused feelings. Finding out he was a felon and couldnt get a job..she still stayed even tho he told her after the fact..Remember waay in the beginning be4 she wasted 20 years of her life she was walking down the isle sad her sisters wasnt there. Saying" i have more questions then flowers in my bouquet" clearly not sure on if she was making the right choice. For me the movie also put out the message of knowing your self worth. No i dont think robert was a bad person but some ppl arent on tbe same page as u and its ok to move on when theyve shown u they may not be the one. But alot of us women have that savior complex. It normally comes back around to bite u in the ass

While i get my life together But when he flipped it..naw this isnt a rental suit but my invention paid off. Now her dream life flashed be4 her eyes. I believed she still loved him but was convinced he wasnt gonna make it and that she should just move on. At the point he had moved on too...like i stated. She devoted 20 years to this man even after all the lies and setbacks..most men would be out the door a looong time if it was the other way around. Therefore no more unnecessary times needs to be wasted..and if u hit it big 20years after we first dated then good for u..but to endure all the drama for that long malinda is partial to blame too for her bitterness

This film was a fail. As a psychotherapist, I was really disappointed by the suggestion of Borderline Personality Disorder, especially because it was never completely developed. Tyler Perry has a habit of giving you crumbs, when he could provide something more substantial if he only took the time and better honed his craft. He never fully fleshes out anything, which is unfortunate because he has too many years and projects under his belt to be giving his audience mediocrity.

He's such the control freak that he has too many projects, too many irons in the fire. He definitely can't delegate duties, he has to write, cast, screen, shoot, choose wardrobe and produce. He's just getting by instead of focusing on the depth of character development.

@Charlene Warren I totally agree. It's as if he highlights the tragedy of our experience with no path to healing the pain. As you said, he cannot confront the reality of the scenarios he plays out which imo really lessens his credibility as a genius writer. A genius writer can connect cause and affect, flesh out the emotions of the characters and go deep dark and ugly to touch the audience and challenge your thinking. TP is good at making others laugh at his characteizations (usually the women) but his perspective as a female is grossly limited. I remember watching Black Girls who consider suicide and cringing at Whoopis role, and Janet Jackson's role when she found out she'd contracted AIDS. Don't even get me started on the mother who lost her kids as the father threw them out of the window. He fails miserably to show our resilience and the depth of our emotional and spiritual humanity bc he refused to collaborate. He's definitely got a god complex! I am enjoying Ryan Coogler, Will Packer Lena Waithe's The Chi, and Ava Duvetnays Queen Sugar. There's so many Mara Brock and Salim Akil, and Yvette Bowser's out here ....
I don't understand why there aren't a plethora of fantastic sitcoms, drama's and movies out here. I guess we can't work together and I second your point....they see us make advanced in something and White folks already waiting to rush in and build wealth beyond what we're doing. They've done that since arriving here and observing and then stealing this land. I'll be so happy when we learn to unite, stay on code and really rise in our power. We can't do that until we learn we can't do it alone. TP is the perfect example of that. Spread the wealth and opportunity bruh!
      Peace and blessings ❣️

Not to mention that a new employee after the other lady retired who they barely know recommended him. They don't show us her talking to anybody about him. She slept with him one time and found out he lied to her and was cheating on Mel. So, she doesn't know him. Not to mention she brings it up and still looks hurt but she helps him. I also want to point out that at the rate he was buying a boat, rebuying the house (that somehow the people wanted to sell), buying that penthouse (that was somehow available), and giving Mel $10,000,000.00 he should have been broke. I mean didn't he just get the check and it hadn't even cleared.

Hiring the best would mean paying accordingly for such talent and maybe in not doing so he can keep more people employed in his studios. I don't think it's a bad thing to have someone who's financially stable as a standard.

So this is a movie encompassing every man's thought of black women: they're angry and psycho and irrational and loud and noisy, but they're also hardworking and nuturing and want to love and make love and it's just like.. what are these dudes thinking?? Profiting off of these strawmen they create for their shitty stories and one dimensional characters. Sorry to anyone who hada sit through this movie!

Fr I loved the movie because there wasn’t a true villain. Everyone wanted a happy ending fir the woman and a bad one file the guy but life doesn’t work like that. Life is unfair and you should always thrive to make better choices. Her giving up on him is not the point at all like many try to say...she wasted time and energy and she looks for someone to blame BUT SHE IS TO BLAME FOR HER CHOICES. He finally gets what he wanted after destroying someone else’s life and his past ends up catching on to him. There are so many lessons and so many interpretations. The movie isn’t black or white is grey and I love it

All Tyler Perry’s movies are energy harvest through and through. He is putting out a certain image of black women that we don’t need to continue seeing. He has money but no talent. He’d do better if he let other people involved but he’s too self absorbed. Just look at his Medea movies he practically plays everyone except the children 🙄

One word: CHOICES! Sometimes as women we overlook the signs for whatever reason we tell ourselves and stay in relationships we know that are not healthy and when the straw finally breaks the camels back then we'll walk. Then we feel mistreated taken for granted and feel like a fool and walk around angry, upset at the man when he finds someone else. The man can't do no more to you than what you would allow him to do. I understand being supportive for your man or woman but reality was not in play here. It's one thing to focus on your dreams but not in the process of destroying another. Melinda had the choice to not enter into the relationship or to remain in it that was her choice. I can't say if it was love that kept her there or what I don't know but at times he came across to me as somewhat manipulative, self absorbed and uncaring because he had something that was important to him and at times its like it just didn't click to him that he needed to be doing more. I guess the moral of the story one at least is good things come to those who wait! Ah, I think not. Melinda had some issues cause you have to be out your mind to endure something like this when the chance to cut your loses and run. She says he took the best part of her life but she gave him her life, money, and mind. I paid a $1.50 at the Redbox to watch this. ha ha

There was a change in my opinion when Tyler Perry depicted black stories and then when he started expoilting the black community particularly the female audience. I stopped watching his plays and movies years ago when I realized he wasn’t making his movies better. They were getting worse, and he was just turning a quick buck. Acrimony and the Madea sequels show that. It’s always like he talks at the black women he never attempts to talk from our perspective. His perspective of his female counterparts are stereotypes.
