- Madonna's pre-fame post-punk rock band, Emmy, perform the final song of their nine song set, "Love Express", at the Chase Park Club, New York in July 1980. From the bootleg release "Emmy & The Emmys: First Time Out Of Manhattan".

This is one of my favorite songs of this recording, that and Best Girl, No Time For Love & Nobody's Fool, it doesn't get any better & raw(r) than this. I stumbled across the actual cd 10 years ago & still play it all the time. I wish I was in that diner/room when they performed this. There's a part on the album when Madonna asks the crowd "Hey is there a dance contest here? Then she goes on saying "And besides-I'm the best dance" she's damn right too!
By this era Madonna had stated that Deborah Harry from Blondie & Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders were her main musical influences.
This is so riot grrrl. I love it
amazing!! better than today and yesterday..
It's recorded on a monaural cassette tape recorder. If you play it on a boom box, and stand a bit away from it, you'll get a feel for the way the band sounded in the room. But it's never going to sound as her later work, still, it's got a nice energy to it.

I'm glad she dropped the punk rock charade. .... Yucko!
I agree I don’t think she would be where she is today if she had kept up this sound her first album and every album after is amazing but the early stuff I am not a fan of I don’t like her rock sound like this
sounds terrible...terrible!!!!
