I couldn't explain this field in any better sense. As an upcoming student about to graduate and enter into the realm of professionalism, this film has inspired me and reassured me that this is a path I am not afraid to enter into, but rather the path I am passionate about. Thank you for this, it is deeply appreciated.
Kathy Reyes hi , I am so nervous about starting in the program. Could you perhaps explain to me the jobs I can get as a LA major?
Thanks for the Video! Sorry for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard about - Patlarny Fit Yourself Principle (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind guide for starting your own landscaping business without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my old buddy Taylor at very last got cool results with it.
3 years ago I found this video and I'm so glad I did. I'm now a student at the number 2 school in the nation for Landscape Architecture (Penn State University) and I love every single day I go to studio and learning from the best professors possible. I cannot wait to graduate and move forward with the knowledge I've gained from this field. This video is what started it all, this video has made me who I am today. This video has been so influential to me personally and I could not thank the creators enough for it. Thank you!
Hi Brandon, Can you leave me message in khaled05dz@gmail.com
I need some help. thanks very much.
can I ask u about that? i wanna be that too
This video inspired me to pursue a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture! I recently graduated and am about to start my career in the field! Thank you so much to whoever made this!
I'm also interested in a follow up. How has the career been since you graduated? Any advice for someone looking into this field, things you wish you would've known before starting, and if you don't mind personal, how much you started off making?
Yes please do tell us, would love to hear how it went!
@@SamadMajid I’ve been working for a large public agency for about 4 years now, designing parks and playgrounds.. and it’s great- it’s dynamic and interesting and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love this. It's bringing together all my passions. I might have to switch my major... I want to change the way we see our world and the way we perceive beauty and perfection, I want our lifestyles to become compatible with the Earth again. I have a vision, but I'm in the wrong field for it to come to fruition. Although, I have to admit that my current degree is helping a little. I have had to take nutrition classes, so I know what kinds of plants would help my vision as far as food sources go...
Great video showing the many facets of the profession of landscape architecture. One scene left out was the landscape architect donning construction helmet, boots and safety vest and strolling through his or her construction site as their design becomes reality. That moment in the field is a true learning experience as you watch machinery moving the earth, laying pipe and cables, spreading and leveling subgrade and laying final hard surfaces for vehicles and pedestrians. The true "point of the pencil" on the landscape. Great video.
Guys!!! You are great! Landscape architecture - this is my life, love, soul, and the profession. Very inspiring, happy, spreading our wings behind us - thank you) !
Great video expressing one of the more satisfying professions. After 45 years in the LA field, I can attest to the satisfaction of designing landscapes and streetscapes for people of all races and interests to use safely while appreciating the wonders of our natural environment. Worked a for a federal agency responsible for the nations waterways, lakes and rivers; a day didn’t go by that I didn’t learn something new from my many colleagues in a team environment. Had a BSLA and a Masters in Urban and Environmental Planning, they both worked very well together. Enjoy the field and get licensed when you can.
This video is a great reminder of the bigger picture, long term, of the influence of landscape architects' work. What we do really does matter!
Great video! Next time people ask me " Okay, so you study landscape architecture...that means you plan gardens, right?", I will send them this video instead of starting to stutter and trying to explain it in a few sentences. Thx for that!
No problemo. Good question. The built world directly affects those who occupy it. The landscape architect once finished may or may not have to live in that space; therefore the understanding of social systems goes hand in hand with design. Having multiple lenses is pertinent in today's field. Design and planning are trending towards a more multidisciplinary. Last piece of advice; hone your drawing and writing skills. Effective communication is perfected through praxis and time.
THANK YOU! so sick of explaining that I don't mow lawns for a living. With this video, we are now going to have an influx of students applying at schools, since no one actually majors in landscape architecture really knowing what it is. again, THANK YOU!
This is great...I am teaching this in my high school architecture class.
oh I guess I will switch my career again,....in landscape architecture.....
I wanna be a landscape architect! Adventure is out there! :)
As they said,I'm amazing, too,I never know landscape is so opening, important, and beautiful,it comfirm me to learn it.
I am very introverted and I have always struggled with what I really want to be in life and I really think this is it!. I find myself going to a program and building structures that once finished I feel so proud. This is what I will do, Thank you.
Shared on Landscape Architecture TV. Thanks.
Do you have to be a mechanic to design a car?
Do you have to be a farmer to pick out great vegetables and put them together
for a great dinner?
Drawing skills are very useful, but this film is about the big picture.......you can always convey your thoughts to an artist to create a drawing..............
This one is amazing. I couldn't explain it any better way and I wish a lot of people would see it and finally understand what exactly is landscape architecture.
You can come in from any background if you enter a MLA program. The diversity in undergraduate and professional backgrounds make MLA what it is today as a discipline. ES is a good undergraduate to complement an MLA. Learn what inspires you and makes you hungry for knowledge. It will most likely be applicable to L.Arch. I'm currently in an MLA program and have a B.A. in Sociology and a vocational education and practice in landscape horticulture.
As a landscape architecture student at Kansas State University, I find this inspiring and moving! Loved the video.
Highly inspiring Video. I have watched it countless times. I am glad to be a Landscape Architect.
well made video... Im in my third semester in college and have taken some architecture courses.. i have been searching for other careers to study and thanks to you guys i have just decided what i want to do in life.
Now I'm undergraduate in Biology but I remeber how Art used to move me in the inside, how used to make me see that all those nights of hard work worth for the smile of the customer.
Now I will apply the next year for a B.A in Landscape Architecture.
(I'm sorry if I make mistakes un my grammar, I'm Spanish native)
i am an urbanist i think this video resume all what i want to explain for the others (the kind of my job)
Thank you for the beautiful video!
And yes, this is one of the best professions that can be!
Finally I can convey why I want to be an landscape architect to my friends and family. Thank you so much!
I'm a landscape designer, with a Diploma in Landscape Architecture. And proud to be in this field :)
Thank you for your thoughtful answers. They honestly encourage me for the best. I wish you the best in Landscape Architecture for both yourself and those who will occupy your projects.
sketching and drawing are two different things........
sketching in landscape architecture can show an outline of your design intent......
drawing that design requires more skills.............you can sketch a one line--stick figure-to show the scale and size/shape of a human........but it takes drawing skills to make that realistic...........
also, the film is about landscape architecture.......not landscape drawing.......
you can be a landscape architect with minimal drawing skills.........and that is precisely the message of the film........so much more is required with a "rounded" knowledge of the industry to be a landscape architect.
and am also thankful for posting this video.......av had it with telling people i don't plant trees and dig holes all day.
Fantastic animation...Landscape Archi. is love for the ambient...for the future...for the other peoples....is not love for your money..
Landscape Archi..a lifestyle that surrounds you...
approaching my 5th year studying, feels pro to be able to identify a whole load of these projects and know their stories

Great inspiring movie for Landscape Architects.
I can't wait to register for this course becouse i see my natural born nature talent for landscaping goin to end up very far... Thanks to the video is really incouraging and powered me so much to go for this..
I want to be a landscape architect ❤️
This is cool! i want to be a landscape architect and i wish i could!
its cool video about landscape architect, because i am landscape architect. where we will appreciate the nature because we are going to stay in that realm
Woow... Great! I really want to be a Landscape Architect.
This vid is excellent ´cause it looks soo simple :) but it´s not so easy to become a LA or Garden architect. Starting from learning plant-names in latin (which is not everyone able to learn), through maintenance of greenery and ending with creating a project with all technical documentation and financial matters, considering all the styles, materials and conditions during the process of creating... loads of things ! Anyway, good luck to everyone who studies this great "science"
Fantastic animation What is the name of the software ...!!!!!!
@fareezharis If you're serious and focused about it, you will do well in school. Staying focused makes a big difference with your classmates-to-be who would rather spend time playing games on the comp or just slacking off. The course facilitators and your personal tutor will give you everything they got, so you won't need a mentor as long as you don't lose track of your goal (graduating with a sense of fulfillment) :)
@Flecha57 I was thinking the same, but once when I caught myself thinking about the right combination of colours and structures of flowers in a movie instead of watching story of a movie, I realised I´m totally in :D
Anyway, I can remember a sentence of my friend who has much more experiences than I have and it says probably everything I need to do this kind of work. "Keep motivated".
you presentation is very creative and ultimate feel...........
Thankyou so so much for the upload. The video hit right into my soul:-)
Oh my gosh this is amazing! I think this video might have changed my life. I thought landscape architects were gardeners, but now i know they are some of the most important, visionary people in the world. They design the whole world!
So how do I become a landscape architect? Please tell me how to become one now.
I want to be a landscape architect.
I don’t know why this got me somehow emotional 🧡
Thank you for your comment. It encourages me to really come into a MLA with a different background other than Architecture. Just to ask one more question, how would you say your Sociology degree is enriching your study of Landscape Architecture? Just curious.
Simply amazing...
In fact this video is really informative, but the pannings made me feel really sick..
Wow, this video made me emotional
@mYeAGz55 I put it in quotes because LA in my opinion is not the proper science as we know the science itself. Of course we need plenty of skills, cooperating with specialists from other different fields etc., and LA/GA is more about fantasy, ability of imagination, thinking about proper, suitable and real options when shaping or modification a place. All in all, we can say it is a science, but we´re not doing any research or theory. We do an art.
mmmmmm, casi lloro cada que lo veo, ademas de que me recuerda cual es mi meta
great video and very nice music
Muy bueno y motivador el video, me gusto mucho. 👍👍
estoy de acuerdo !
@Padwandaman Look for a university that offers a bachelor in landscape and garden architecture.
You can also do a master afterwards
Amazing video. But C'mon guys, use that spell check--"Civilization and visualized"
Otherwise, I love it. Not many people know the history and entire scope that we encompass. Great way to fill people in and get us more recognized. Thank you!
Agree that it is a great video. The spelling is correct though as it is written in English rather than American English.
C'mon it's about time to realiSe and recogniSe that American English is not the only way to spell
London based animation company 'Room60' made this film for the UK Royal Chartered Landscape Institute. The language used in this film is 'English' and all correct. For some reason, Americans over the years have decided in certain cases to change the letter 'S' in words to a 'Z' and drop the 'U' out of Colour. Very odd?! as it was the English that invented the English language. So surely their spelling of words is the correct way?! Nevertheless, I'm sure the letter 'Z' is delighted to be used more requently. Apart from Zebra Crossing the letter 'Z' is a very underused word here in the UK.
@fareezharis I'm an AutoCAD drafter. Drafted at a landscape architecture firm, Atelier Dreiseitl Asia, for 14 months; now I've been at SAA Architects for the past 1.5 months. Looking to further my studies this year :)
Really nice and inspiring...
Awesome!A masterpiece is how i would describe it. THANKS
This was a really awesome video - I would say even moving! Thank you so much :)
This Video sums up the reason i study landscape architecture at university :)

This video ROCKS HARD!!!! Inspiring job! :D

Will studying Environmental Science as an undergraduate be a smart move in wanting to Master in Landscape Architecture? If not, what should I study as an undergraduate?
Thank you very much! I love this video!:)

Hi I am about to start school for landscaping. Just wondering if I really need any skills before hand for this career. I know you have to have a big imagination, but I mean like certain math or computer knowledge.

Instead of architecture in 5 years am going to landscape architecture it's so interesting
Great video! I'm actually going to use it at a high school career fair on Tuesday. I will credit you of course. If you don't mind me asking, what program did you use to make this video?
what is the difference between urban planning and landscape architecture?
Urban planning is more focused on the city, like designing new neighbourhoods, city centres, etc.. Landscape architecture is broather and looks at the city and the surrounding landscape (or countryside). Also the combination between horticulture and design is way stronger.
Could anyone please suggest a good college in India or abroad to pursue a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture for an interested student from middle class?
Does anybody know the soundtrack song's title? ot it was made only for the video? :/

This should be a nursery rhyme
A GOOD ORIENTATION VEDIO
Will an Enigneering degree at the undergraduate level qualify a person to earn a Masters in Landscape Architecture? Or should one pursue something else?
I want to learn more about it and I am wondering if the universities have the program of landscape architect or if it's called something else? Also, is it a stable job?
To be honest I wouldnt have chosen to be one if I knew how the market is for this profession. I am now in school to become a teacher. I can really make a difference there and impact young minds.
Should i take this course as the next step in my life ? I need someone help .. Im 18 years old right now and im interested with this ;D
งามครับงาม
