  • Today I managed to get my hands on a 2022 Dodge Charger SXT V6. We are going to put this vehicle to the TRUE Test! Here is my Honest Review!
    #Dodge #Charger #Review
    So here is the question, if you are stuck in the middle between a true Muscle Car and the family Sedan, then the Dodge Charger SXT may be for you!
    The Dodge Changer packs 292 horse power in the provided V6 engine. The alternate V8 ups that horse power to 370-hp for the 5.7-liter or a 485-hp for the 6.4-liter. With the V6, it comes standard with ALL-wheel drive.
    This mean looking aggressive car will get heads turning but not for its loud engine exhaust.
    This 4 door vehicle comes with a standard 17" wheel system, capless gas system, rear back up camera, keyless entry, CarPlay / Android auto and a few other surprises along the way too.
    In conclusion, if you are stuck between the cool sports muscle car but require the room for 5, then the Dodge Charger SXT may be a BUY for you.
    I personally would choose the Ford Mustang over this vehicle but that is my opinion.

    Great assessment Matt. Yeah, the one-word description is compromise. As you stated, a Dad with a young family and with an appetite for sporty performance but the need to be more practical and conservative might turn to this car. Loved the simple “reality is” approach! I enjoyed this. (Nice to be able to climb back into your GT after this, I’m sure 😉)

      Glad you liked it Joe. I planned to add some b-roll interior shots but off course I realized I forgot them after I dropped off the rental. In the end the video turned out alright. AND YES, I couldn’t waiting to get back into my GT Joe! The worst part is that I had to wait almost a week after dropping off the rental as the Mustang was in the shop getting a full paint correction and Ceramic Coating detail. Needless to say I am very happy with my purchasing especially after driving the charger for 2 days straight. Perhaps my opinion would have been different if it was the V8 but at the same time, I am very disappointed with the interior finishes.

    What is the exchange rate in canada. I payed $28k for a '23 sxt. I dont see this as a muscle car but a sporty sedan with a descent amount of power. 20 years ago i would have gotten the v8. Im a "middle aged" guy so this is fine for me. Also if I took a long highway trip on cruise control I would probably get Upper twenties mpg. Going to work in stop and go traffic I get 20-22 mpg. Check you conversion from kpg maybe?

    • @LifeOfaMatt
      @LifeOfaMatt  Před 28 dny

      Yeah, I was not convinced about what the gauge was telling me; it didn't seem right at the time. Perhaps being a rental, there was a lot of pedal to the metal, which the MPG would be thrown off. Looking back, I should have reset it to get a clear reading for the trip and, of course, the video too.
      The exchange rate here sucks! 1.39, I believe. I love travelling to the US, but the exchange really hurts when you look at the credit card bill. Pro tip: Don't look at what you have spent till you get home; it could ruin your trip 🤣

    I love my 2017 SXT plus, its still quick and nimble for what it is, and decent amount of after market performance mods, one can say i could use the extra money instead to get a v8, but man, prices in Cali are no joke plus the insurance too. You can still get a Ripp supercharger for 6k made for the 3.6 pentastar, it'll make your SXT faster than a RT and almost as fast as a Scatpack

      @LifeOfaMatt  Před 8 měsíci

    Matt,
    Enjoyed your video. Especially since I own a 22 Charger SXT V6, 3.6 Pentastar. Actually on the highway at 70 mph I get 35 miles per gallon. Don't know why your numbers are so different. The rest of the car seems pretty tight and does what I need it to do. I previously had a 2010 Charger SXT with a V6, 3.5 engine. It got 25 miles per gallon on the highway going 70 mph.
    The deficiency that both cars had was the camber on the rear wheels was negative which caused the inside edges of the rear tires to wear out. The factory doesn't include any adjustment for that. On the 2010 I had to remove the upper brace for each of the rear wheels and cut it in the middle, put a thick spacer in the joint and weld it back together to make it longer. That was the only way I knew to straighten out the alignment problem. The 2022 had the same problem, but by then I found out that you could buy eccentric mounting bushings to help correct the length of the upper braces for the camber adjustment. That's a little easier to do than the cutting and welding. Unfortunately the full eccentric wasn't enough to get all of the negative camber out. So I guess I'll eventually be back cutting and welding.
    Don't know why Dodge sends a good percentage of new cars out the door like this. I guess they figure that the general public won't notice and if they do, Dodge can give them the "you're the only one routine",
    The average person wouldn't know this until the rear tires started wearing out prematurely. But if you stand behind the car when it's on level ground, you can actually see if the wheels are perpendicular to the ground. Try it some time. This is because there is no heavy duty axle housing with the differential inside like most cars. Actually this is common to the Challenger also. It is probably common the the 300's as well. Might be common to some other Dodges/Chryslers.
    The rest of the car I think works pretty well. I like 4 doors. Don't like swinging the front seat back forward in order to use the back seat.
    I suppose you know by now that there is no 2024 Dodge Charger/Challenger. My understanding is that there will be a future Electric Charger/Challenger.

      How many miles you have on your car? No issues?
      Iv heard 2022-2023 seem to have more issues than prior models I guess due to dodge knowing they are done making these, supposedly the quality of working putting together has been less

    • @skip6517
      @skip6517 Před 2 měsíci

      @@heythere6983 When I bought the 2022 model it had 13,000 miles on it. Seems like a good car except for the negative camber on the rear wheels and one other thing that I am finding out as the weather gets warmer this year. When on the highway cruising, the air conditioner for some reason cuts out and won't blow cold air. In the city at low speed it puts out very strong cold air, so it's not the AC itself. Today the outside temp was 95* and almost the same inside the car when going 70 mph. Once off the highway and in city traffic the AC started blowing cool air again. Pretty frustrating for S. Fla.

    • @skip6517
      @skip6517 Před 21 dnem

      Ok, here's the rest of the story.....I think. After sweating and thinking about the situation, I hypothesized that maybe the evaporator was freezing up. So what I did and continue to do (since it works) is turn the AC button to off but keep the fan blowing on high. The air starts to get cold even with the AC off. I conjecture that the ice on the evaporator is melting and after 3 or 4 minutes, the air gets warm again. That's when I turn the AC back on. It then blows cold for about 10 or 15 minutes. When the AC gets warm again, I repeat the process. I can't visually confirm that the evaporator is icing over because it is inside of a bunch of ducting that is probably difficult and uncomfortable to dismantle (picture lying on your back with your head under the dash panel and your hips on the passenger seat). At any rate, this works and I believe my theory is correct. Don't know whether to call this the car's fault or not. You be the judge.

    Let’s be fair Matt, you’re coming from a Coyote 5.0. This is more In competition with an Ecoboost. I certainly wouldn’t trade my GT even for the 6.4 Hemi but if you are looking for a family car with a muscle car vibe it does fit that niche. I couldn’t give up the V8 sound either. But $55k? Not sure how that exactly compares to USD but my GT premium 401a, 10r80 was less than that with premium paint and wheels! By The Way I get 27-28 mpg Highway doing 75-80 mph. Now if I play and put my foot in it, well… 19 mpg for a V6? Are you kidding me. Less than 300 hp! I didn’t buy my Mustang for gas milage but that seems to be the worst of both worlds.

      Hi Retired Air Force, Great to hear from you again. Just so that we are on the same page, this video was not a comparison between the Charger and my Mustang. I had this rental car for two days so I figured I would make a video of it. You are right about the power; comparing it to an Eco boost but regardless I would not drive either one ha ha. AND yes at this point I couldn't give up my V8 either. When I was car shopping last year, the Chargers pricing was pretty close to what I paid for my Mustang here in Canada. The gas mileage was a weird one too. When driving on the highway, the gauge noted 8.3 km/l which converts to 19.5 MPG. My in town average for the mustang is sitting around 17 MPG; 25+ MPG on the highway. In the end it was an alright ride but not for me.
