As someone relatively new to crochet, I need to remember that more intricate or difficult patterns do not define beautiful projects. I keep chasing more and more difficult patterns and forget that simple stitches can create a gorgeous effect. Thank you for this reminder! Time to order a swift and dive into the yarn from Expression Fiber Arts!
That's so true! I'm so glad you found this helpful! Happy crocheting!
i agree. there’s a magical moment where gorgeous yarn and simple stitches are transformed into a timeless classic. this is one of those moments.
Chandi, there’s nobody on the planet who can inspire me the way you do. thanks for making this your life’s work.
Thank you for your sweet words! ❤️
Oh my, oh me, oh my!
What a beautiful and elegant wrap.
So simple, but yet so intricate.
Congratulations to the designer. 🥰
Such a talent!!
Thank you so much! She did a wonderful job with this design!
I listen to Audible books, or music, and sometimes I sit outside on my deck , in the sunshine, and listen to nature , while I knit or crochet. I remember when I was intimidated by crocheting...since I was first a knitter. But with your tutorials and spunky spirit, you’ve encouraged me to try so many crochet patterns! The projects are completed more rapidly, and the sense of satisfaction is greater ! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! I'm so happy that you enjoy our tutorials and that they are helpful. Have a wonderful day! 💕
Beautiful and meditative! Just what I need in both knit and crochet….thanks for your inspirational message too! 🥰🥰🙏
You are so welcome! Have a wonderful day!
Ever the music is inspiring. Thank you for sharing the beautiful pattern.
You are so welcome!
Just perfect…rain & crochet are a beautiful combination for calmness and relaxation. Lovely pattern 🧶🪡💝🌺🥰
It really is! ❤️
Lovely pattern and many options in size and yarn. Love it. When I crochet I like to pray my daily prayers. Other times I listen to music or watch TV.
❤️❤️❤️
That would also make a beautiful scarf too. Thank you for this
Yes it does! 😍
I have only been crocheting for 4 months but I downloaded this pattern today. I will be making this shawl when I get home from my South African vacation. This is a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
You're very welcome! Enjoy your vacation. ❤️
Love your videos, Chandi!! They, themselves, are meditative! I love feeling like I can relax into a pattern. I don't worry about my speed, I don't listen to books, but I might look into that! Instead, I'll put on a Hallmark movie, or rewatch a DVD. That way I'm not too easily distracted from my crochet. Music, I love so many different genres. Kip Moore, and country, Wynonna, Ashley McBride, Tim + Faith, Garth + Trisha, blues, Keb Mo, Tony, Dean, Frank, rock, and jazz are my go to's.
That sounds lovely! And thank you ❤️
Hello again Chandi - well, it took me a lot longer to try this pattern, but I finally did and I love it. You're right, it's so easy. However...I tried it wth some gorgeous soft bamboo yarn I have and it's beautiful. Thank you again for your lovely vidoes with clear instructions, pleasant music and beautiful surroundings.
Sweet words. Lovely pattern.
Many, many thanks! Enjoy!
I like this video. I like the way you made it. The rain, and the movement of the white curtains behind you definitely reflects the connotation of the name I have choosen😘. Everything is gorgeous😍😍. Thank you so much. I'm very honored to worked with you.
Greatings to the team too.
Thank you so much! The pattern and design are wonderful, and we love working with you, too! It's fabulous! Have a wonderful weekend!
Your tutorials make what seems like complicated projects simple and accessible!😊 Never heard of the single stack crochet stitch until watching your tutorial. Keep 'em coming!
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoy our tutorials. 💕
What a lovely pattern to do. Now I have something to use my fingering yarn with, that I bought from yourself a few months ago. Another one in my long to do list. Thank you for the helpful tutorial 😊
You're most welcome. Happy crocheting! :)

Glad you like them! You're so welcome!
@@ExpressionFiberArts im disabled and crochet and knitting give me joy so i thank you!
I actually listen to your videos when I am starting a project. It keeps me calm! I also enjoy a great audiobook. Libby is a service through the library I use for my audiobooks. I just listened “Recursion” by Blake Crouch. The Bridgeton series is fun to listen to as well🤩
Wonderful! Thanks for the suggestions, too!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for a soothing, meditative pattern! Perfect for TV watching or waiting time at the doctor's office. I look forward to seeing how my fav ombré yarn works up.
One thing about southern NM is that there's no being wimpy when it comes to rain during monsoon. Buckets. And I mean _buckets_ of the liquid started coming down yesterday just when I was trying to go through the drive thru. Nope. Opening the window was a bad idea. I backed up and parked while fire hoses from on high spewed for about 15 mins. Then it was done, and blue could be seen between the clouds. It hadn't rained a drop at my place 5 miles north while the roads where I'd been were now flooded and potentially dangerous. At least my car got a good wash, so that was nice. 😉
Using ombre yarn sounds like an amazing idea! Please share your project with us when you're done! ❤️
Thank you! I I am a knitter but I love watching your crochet instructions! I can imagine that shawl in a lace weight yarn, but that would turn to be an endless work in progress for me :))
You're very welcome! This shawl in lace would be gorgeous!
It’s a lovely shawl. I look forward to making this!🥰
Have fun! I'm so glad you like it!
Your channel has reignited my love of crochet. ❤️

Hi there. I'm glad you like our pattern. Have you tried this trick on youtube yet?
Turn on closed captions, and click on the Settings (the gear icon). Choose Subtitles/CC and to the right of that there is a language option. Use that to select Auto-Translate, and then choose Spanish. CZcams will automatically translate the closed captions for you.
It will auto translate the video and you can watch it with Spanish subtitles. I hope this helps. 💚
Lovely color you choose to use, stay strong. 😊🧡🍁🐘🇨🇦
Thank you! 😊
The large size in those colors is gorgeous! 💖🙌🙌🙌😺
I think so too! ❤️

Omg...our cell network and internet has been down since 5 am today, and all I could think about was when am I going to be able to see what glorious new pattern i am missing?! 💞💖
You're very sweet! 💜
I love your instructional videos! You make everything look so easy and every time I watch a new one I want to make that project also! I have ordered 3 different orders now of yarn for different patterns (Seren and Turbulence) and need to make those first! thank you for always making the patterns free for a time. I know I can always order the yarn after I finish the current projects!
You're most welcome! ❤️
Hi Chandi! Another amazingly beautiful pattern from Expression Fiber Arts. Friday is my favorite day and I always look forward to my email notification for your patterns. ❤️
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful weekend!
You too! 🙂
Beautiful pattern and fantastic tutorial as always. Thank you 😊
Glad you like it!
Beautiful, excited to make it!
Have fun!
Hi Chandi. What a lovely pattern! It definitely seems very calming to work on. If I listen to music that I like to sing along with I’d never get anything done, lol. I like the music you play. Very calming. I’m a huge jazz and blues fan. Thanks for sharing this beautiful pattern and tutorial and especially your perspective on the rain! I love it! Have a wonderful weekend!🌸💞
Thea, thank you so much and you're most welcome!
Elegant shawl thank you, learnt how to stack single crochet was interesting to learn a new stitch, thanks xxx
Great that the video was helpful to you! 😍
Lovely thank you ❤🙏
Very nice pattern. The pearlescent fingering yarn is what makes this pattern so elegant. I have never used the ssc stitch. Very interesting stitch! It appears to create a straighter edge which is always a good thing. You are right, Chandi, about the calming affect when crocheting. You mentioned in the video that you like to listen to audio books. One of my personal favorite audio books author is Rys Bowan. If you are into mysteries in the genre of Agatha Christie, you would enjoy listening to the Her Royal Spyness series. It's a fun, tastefully spicy, mystery series involving Lady Georgiana who is 34th in line to the throne of England.
💕💕💕
I just want you to know I really enjoy your videos. I mostly crochet but you make me want to get my needles and start knitting. Be Safe!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!
Beautiful!! Definitely I can do this, Thankyou!!! You model your work so lovely!!!
Thanks so much 😊
You are so gorgeous! I love your personality and energy! Beautiful inside and out!

Thank you so much! Lovely! I can do that one. 🧶👏🏻❤️
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for your tutorial this week. I will try it soon.
I love to listen to audiobook while I'm knitting. I just finished "The Candy Man" in French.
Enjoy your summer. :)

Glad you like it! ❤️
What a beautiful shawl! 😍 I'm currently listening to Mistborn The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson as well and so far I really like it. I hope you enjoy the book as well! ❤️
Thanks so much! It's quite good so far!
Thank you
Welcome! ❤️
I’m going to crochet this while on a cruise
Wonderful! Enjoy working on it and your cruise. 💕
Y’all get me into so much yarn MISCHIEF! 💸💸💸🤪🤪🤪
😉
Nice pattern 🥰
Thank you! 😊
Could this be done without the internal border sections and just continue until I have it long enough? I have three skeins of a certain yarn (total 555) yards so I am limited. Thanks, Chandi. Love this pattern. If you have a shawl pattern that would be easier to crochet until I use up the yarn I appreciate suggestions. Thank you!
Yes, definitely! Enjoy making Pluie Calme. 💕
Crocheting helps me get balanced & relaxed I absolutely love ❤️ it ☀️
Wonderful! 🥰
I adore this shawl!!! Never seen a ssc before and I'd love to try it out. I'll crochet with you later, too busy right now...
Take care, love and hugs!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Love that pattern another one for the future. I am currently knitting your Gradient Sea shawl ( love it) . My current audio book is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, it’s a good read “listen”
Wonderful!
You are really an amazing teacher, as I have said before it is easier for me to see what you do than to read a pattern. Thank you❣️ my only question is, how many stiches is in the real piece since I know you are doing a small version? Thanks again!
Thank you for your question. For the sample you cast on 69 chains or alternatively 68 foundation single crochets. Hope that helps! ❤️
On my Audible I listen to World War Z Complete Edition or Jojo Moyes Still Me. Or if I'm not listening to audio books I have music playing.
❤️❤️❤️
Hi Chandi, I love your work. The pieces that you make are unique and elegant. I have bought this pattern, and I am a little confused about the direction on the following rows.
Rows 55-154: Repeat Rows 5-54 2 more times. Rows 155-202: Repeat Rows 5-52 once more.
What do you mean by repeat twice and once more?
I understood that I had to repeat row 5 and row 54 until I reached row 154, starting with row 55, same as the next one.
Can you clarify,y, please?
Tank you
Hi Francesca, thank you for your message. I'm happy to help. I'm glad you're liking Pluie Calme so much!
Regarding your question, this means that for Rows 55 to 104 you will repeat all the instruction for Rows 5 to 54 (not just repeating row 5 and 54 but all 50 rows) and then do it one more time for Rows 105 to 154, again repeating the instructions from Rows 5 to 54 (50 rows).
Following, you will only work Rows 5 to 52 (48 rows) until you reach Row 202.
I hope this makes sense and clarifies what you have to do.
Please, let me know if you have any further questions! You can also reach out through our contact form (www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/) for further assistance.
Have a lovely day! 💕
Thank you, Chandi, for taking the time to respond amd clarify. :) Happy Holidays!
Super👍👍
❤️
Thank you. My goal is to make this while able. On hospice and IF i can focus I am starting. What kind of yarn and size hook?
Responding to beginner shawl
Hi Jacqueline, thank you for your question.
This shawl uses our Pearlescent Fingering yarn (www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/fingering/pearlescent-fingering-1.html) and a size US D (3.00 mm) hook.
Most of this information is usually also given in the description box of the tutorial. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Have a lovely day! ❤️
Hi Chandi, this shawl is gorgeous. I would like to ask, for the FSC, it will work the width of the shawl?
Hi Claire, thank you! Yes the FSC will correspond to the width of the shawl. 🥰
I love your videos, and esecially this design which seems so simple yet so elegant. I have a question - is there a particular reason for using the stacked single crochet instead of a double? Ive never come across this stitch before so am just curious. Thanks :)
Hi Judith, thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad you like this pattern. No, I don't think there is a particular reason for using this stitch over a dc other than the designers imagination on how the design is supposed to look.
I hope this makes sense. Have a nice day! 💕
@@ExpressionFiberArts Hi Chandi, thank you for getting back to me so quickly, I really appreciate it. So here I am, in chilly, damp Ireland (Republic of) with my hook, my yarn and my enthusiasm, all set to give this my best shot.😊
Hi, I purchased the pearlescent yarn and I did find a US size C/3mm crochet hook. The hook I’m using appears definitely smaller than demonstrated in this video. Wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything. I started with the chain 13 and the chain + Hook is super super tiny.
As long as it's a 3mm hook, as called for in the pattern, and you can get gauge with it, you should be fine. I don't always use the yarn and hook that's called for in the pattern when I film these demos, so that may be causing a little confusion, too.
@@ExpressionFiberArts I see. 😁 thank you again. I need to just believe I got this lol 😂
My mom is listening to Swordheart by T. Kingfisher, or listens to 80 music.
😍
Thank you for adding me to the group. I just finished reading Jackie and Maria. It was wonderful. I had forgotten much about Onassis.
Can I just use double crochet instead of stacked single crochet?
I'm guessing you can but it might change the look of the stitch pattern a bit.
I hope it works out! 🤞
@@ExpressionFiberArts ah I see.. thank you for replying! I haven't tried out the pattern yet but I'll try to update when I do
Hola How many stitches for this shawl?
13 is just a sample.
Hi Irene, thank you for your comment.
For the smaller version you will cast on 68 FSC for the larger version 136 FSC.
I hope this answers your question. Have a lovely day! 💕
What are you knitting during beginning of this ? What yarn are you using?
I'm working with the Come to Light Hues Sparkle Fingering kit we had awhile ago and just making a little self-designed blanket.
@@ExpressionFiberArts I love those colors do you happen to have another kit?
My Birthday is Wed any type of promo to use for that?
Can i use 4 weight yarn with this pattern?
Hi Lani,
yes you can use Worsted weight (number 4 weight) yarn instead of Fingering (number 2 weight) yarn but you will most likely need more yarn. If you keep the same number of stitches you will get a shawl that is much wider. If you want the shawl to be the same width you will need to adjust the number of chains in the beginning. This design is based on a multiple of 4 + 4 if using Foundation Single Crochet (4+5 if you use a regular chain method).
So make a swatch, check your gauge, and decide based on that with how many stitches you'd like to work with.
I hope this makes sense and helps!
Have a nice day! 🥰
Muy lindos x fa también debería poner en español o cantidad o sea números múltiplos d si no sabe español como digo cantidad #gracias y disculpe Dios la bendiga cuidece 🙏
Hi there, unfortunately we don't offer our patterns or tutorials in different languages but you can try this trick for youtube:
Turn on closed captions, and click on the Settings (the gear icon). Choose Subtitles/CC and to the right of that there is a language option. Use that to select Auto-Translate, and then choose Spanish. CZcams will automatically translate the closed captions for you.
Regarding the multiple for this pattern:
If you use Foundation Single Crochet the multiple is 4 + 4. If you start with a chain you will need to chain 4 + 5.
I hope this helps!
Have a nice day! 🥰
Very pretty. Love it! I want the pattern and am willing to pay for it. Help me understand why you need my credit card information for the *free* pattern? If it costs zero there is no need to process my card.
Hi Line, thank you for your comment. Are you purchasing the pattern through our website? You should not need to include your payment information when using the website even as a guest. It should skip this step if all the items in your card are free.
Hope this helps!
What hook are you using?
Hi Elizabeth,
For this sample we used a 3.00 mm hook.
I hope that answered the question. Have a lovely day! ❤️
💜💚❤️💜💚❤️
Thanks! I'm happy you like it!
Can you please send me your pattern for this Shawl.
Hi Nora,
you can find the Pluie Calme pattern on our website here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/pluie-calme.html
This info is usually also posted in the description box below the tutorial.
Enjoy the pattern and have a nice day! 💕
Is this lengthwise ?
No, it's crocheted widthwise.
👍👏👏
💕💕💕
Hello Chandi! Thank you so much for this lovely pattern! I love listening to the sound of rain pattering down. I'm currently in love with this audio book called Howl's moving castle! it's a fantastic book. and a wonderful movie as well. I'm going to listen to it this evening as I knit your wandering scarf.
Wonderful! ❤️
Just need clarity on the hook size. Pattern says US Size D / 3mm but all the US size D hooks in my area are 3.5mm 😭 I just want to follow how the pattern says so if anyone can help I would appreciate it ❤️😁
Hi Felicia, thank you for your comment. You're right an US size D hook is usually 3.25 mm. The mismatch might have happened since the sizes are not really unified everywhere in the world. With Pluie Calme being a wrap I can't imagine that gauge is super crucial but if you want to to make sure, you could make a swatch with your 3.25 mm hook and see where you end up with our dimensions.
I hope this is helpful. Have a wonderful day! 💕
Thank you so much ☺️🙏🏾
actually I was thinking that the alternate triangle (shells) could be in a different color.
That's a great idea! Give it a try. 💕
Please send me the pattern
Hi Rehana, thank you for your question. You can download this pattern here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/pluie-calme.html
It's still available for free currently. Have a great day! ❤️
Very important discussion. Unfortunately Mr. Singh's voice was not that clear.
Thanks for the feedback.

I'm sorry about that. 😢
